Now then. Us old metalheads, I’m 57, have heard and seen what the musicians of the Punk and Metal of the late seventies, eighties, nineties and of later generations had on offer. Fantastic albums with shows to match. Unforgettable memories. As time goes on, even these punk and metal bands, will disappear over time as immortality does not exist. Who’s gonna replace the legends? Do the youth of this current generation have what it takes to pick up an instrument of their choice, master the instrument, form a band, get noticed, spread the word, do gigs, get management, demos, rehearsals, album releases. The older metalheads know there are young performers out there that can take on Chuck, Lemmy, Steve Harris, Jeff Hanneman, Piggy, Holt, and a thousand others. Talent is there. The metal world is waiting for you to rise up and put the pop world to shame. Hopefully, listening to this record might give you a push and put your talents towards forming a band. Go on, give it a try.

I'm 51 (at the time of this posting) and have seen metal evolve and expand over the years. Admittedly, Death's "Leprosy" is so epic that the bar is set extremely high. Definitely death metal. The guitars are tuned lower than traditional thrash metal. The vocals are definitely not thrash either. Only thing remotely thrash about this is some of the drumming. But that's how death metal started out. This and scream bloody gore was the transition from thrash to death metal. Which most genres that start out have that transition. Regular heavy metal was the same way. Hard rock was the transition to heavy metal. You could say Black Sabbath was hard rock but they arnt. So yes there's gonna be a thrash influence with earlier death metal. Not to mention they are considered the first death metal band.

Something for screamers :) 1. Leprosy [music and lyrics - Schuldiner] Bodies deformed way beyond belief Cast out from their concerned society Flesh contorting day after day Freak of the dark world is what the people say Their lives decay before their eyes There is no hope of cure Among their own kind they live A life that's so obscure First an arm and then a leg Deterioration grows Rotting while they breathe - Death comes slow Leprosy will take control and bring you to your death No chance of a normal life to live just like the rest Leprosy will spread with time, your body soon to change Appearance becomes hideous a sight too much to take Tuberculoid the most severe Decay of the nerves comes fast Sense of feeling soon to be gone Life will never last No hope of recovery after the nerves are eaten away Damage is done you feel no more pain Bones decay deterioration grows Origin of this horrid disease nobody knows Their lives decay before their eyes There is no hope of cure Among their own kind they live A life that's so obscure First an arm and then a leg Deterioration grows Rotting while they breathe - Death comes slow Leprosy will take control and bring you to your death No chance of a normal life to live just like the rest Leprosy will spread with time, your body soon to changel Appearance becomes hideous a sight too much to take 2. Born Dead [lyrics - Schuldiner, music - Schuldiner / Rozz] Brought to this world to wither away Naive about the ways of life is what they say Millions live millions die, more are yet to come Living skeletons - Where they come from Born dead into this world To starve and rot in agony Born dead into this world It's their choice, why can't you see Life of misery, soon a corpse you be As bones show through, nothing you can do Relief does not exist When you are born to die Disease spreads fast across their dying world Many cemeteries they will have to build As process goes on for many years to come A human waste land created when they are done Born dead into this world To starve and rot in agony Born dead into this world It's their choice, why can't you see 3. Forgotten Past [lyrics - Schuldiner, music - Schuldiner / Rozz] Deep in your mind there is another side A morbid truth one cannot hide Unimaginable gore was your past time high To hear people scream, to watch them die Return back to the burial site Face your dreams upon this night Severed limbs not far away Spirit past you now obey Images of the forgotten past Your first life revealed at last Now you'll find to your surprise All the corpses you left behind A place you feel you've been to before Where life would turn right into gore You dig deep down through the years of decay The truth is revealed, you found your way Return back to the burial site Face your dreams upon this night Severed limbs not far away Spirit past you now obey Images of the forgotten past Your first life revealed at last Now you'll find to your surprise All the corpses you left behind 4. Left To Die [lyrics - Schuldiner, music - Schuldiner / Rozz] Put your life into their hands Die for someone else Now you're in the real world Where pain and death are felt The first blood shed does not seem real Reality is what you feel Dropping to your knees you pray God won't make this go away You will not return alive - Left to die Suffering until the end - Left to die Time stands still as you pass away No more tomorrow this is your last day On this fucking earth Bodies fall onto the ground Blood flies through the air Shredded victims lie in pain Death is never fair Legs blown off, all hope is lost A human life is what it cost Others follow close behind A real adventure they will find You will not return alive - Left to die Suffering until the end - Left to die 5. Pull The Plug [Music and lyrics: Schuldiner] Memories is all that's left behind As I lay and wait to die Little do they know That I hear their choice of life End it now, it is the only way Too cruel, that is what they say Release me from this lonely world There is no hope, why don't you Pull the plug Let me pass away Pull the plug Don't want to live this way Once I had full control of my life I now behold a machine decides my fate End it now it's all too late What has now been days, it seems like years To stay like this is what I fear Life ends so fast, so take your chance And make it last End it now, it is the only way Too cruel, that is what they say Release me from this lonely world There is no hope, why don't you Pull the plug Let me pass away Pull the plug Don't want to live this way 6. Open Casket [lyrics - Schuldiner, music - Schuldiner / Rozz] Approach the image filled with fear As the image grows so clear Future now takes full control The one whose past you now behold Touch - The flesh it is so cold Turn away - You now have been told Never to return, memories will last In the future, you'll think about the past Never to forget, what you have seen People come to pay respect Taking pictures of the dead That is what life comes to be Once they lived, now they're deceased Death is oh so strange The past no one can change What you can't predict Is how long you'll exist Open casket - Open casket Life will never be the same Death can never be explained It's their time to go beyond Empty feeling when they're gone Never to return, memories will last In the future, you'll think about the past Never to forget, what you have seen What can not be real you now believe 7. Primitive Ways [lyrics - Schuldiner, music - Rozz] Go against the ways and experience pain Leading a life which one might call insane Bathe in the blood of the one you killed Slaughter to survive, your needs are fulfilled Using horrid waste Some of them will taste Removing deadly disease With such primitive ease Cannibals practising the art of butchery Emotions don't exist, pain you can't resist Primitive ways Conducting ceremonies to meet the ancient ones While having an outer body experience Celebrate the kill of the day Then walk among the guts of the fallen prey Using horrid waste Some of them will taste Removing deadly disease With such primitive ease Cannibals practising the art of butchery Emotions don't exist, pain you can't resist 8. Choke On It [lyrics - Schuldiner, music - Schuldiner / Rozz] Freedom is just a breath away Will you live to see the day As the heat intensifies You start to choke, your insides fry Seizure now sets in Torture will begin Twisted bodies lie Waiting now to die Choke on it - As your tongue goes down Choke on it - Death is all around Screaming fills your frenzied mind No way out no more time Example made from those to see Your freedom turned to misery World is all around Of what they have found Lesson to be learn You will not return Choke on it - As your tongue goes down Choke on it - Death is all around Chuck Schuldiner: guitar, vocals Rick Rozz: guitar Bill Andrews: drums Terry Butler: bass

Leprosy - radiation sickness of people living on the surface Born dead - Radiation cause bigger risk for new borns Forgotten past - Modern world is no more. Everything lies in the ashes under ruins. Knowledge was lost. Left To Die - There are many sick people because of fallout. There is no madical help anyway. If you're really sick, there is no help for you. Pull The Plug - Death is everywhere. Sometimes it's even only solution. Open Casket - "Life will never be the same Death can never be explained It's their time to go beyond Empty feeling when they're gone" Primitive ways - Primal instincts are taking place. Choke on it - Only strongest will survive. If there is a chance.

+PanteraFanboy81 album names don't make it death metal. I think your confused between the genre and album names. I've got nothing against Metallica but they're not death metal. in fact if I remember correctly kill em all was named best Thrash Metal album of all time. By your logic then anyone with the words kill or death in album title should be considered death metal or at least that's what I'm getting from your comment.

Love 'Death', love Chuck and I've got to say Bill Andrews drumming on this album is off the charts. My heart skips a few beats every time I hear that snare and double bass.

Pull the Plug played on the Tommy Vance Friday rock show when it was a new song is what got me into this band. The stand out song for weeks on it. Chuck Schuldiner really was the best - a musical visionary.

it's great, but....best death metal song?! "Perpetual Dawn" - Fleshcrawl, "Towards the Shrouded Infinity" - Demigod, "Enthralled in Essence" - Atheist, "A Prison Called Earth" - Atrocity, etc. are all way better.

When I was about 15 I luckily found a relapse records comp on cassette at Goodwill and I ended up playing it all the time. Primitive ways was my favorite on it. I was more of a hardcore punk fan but anything evil and fast and heavy I loved. So years later I thought death would be an awesome band name and I looked it up on Myspace and discovered scream bloody Gore. When I got to leprosy, I rediscovered primitive ways.. I was reunited and it felt so good hehe. Now Death is one of my favorite bands of all time. :)

@CalamitousJonathan2 жыл бұрын
I disagree, Chuck Schuldiner is Death, I am Death, but I took the name Jonathan David Taylor, after David Jonathan Taylor, shot my sled out of the sky with a missle from a jet, so i stole his planes, jets and heliocopters and stashed them around the world. Do you know any pilots that might want free planes, jets or heliocopters, so I can start collecting them from around the world? I took the name, so when I free Victoria from the glass prison she is in, she will know who to take her revenge on for blowing my sled out of the sky with a missle. I think Death's best work was stealing something like 600 Plane Heliocopters and Jets from the man that blew up my sled and had the little girl Victoria sealed in a glass prison, until I can free her to a new body. I took the man's name, so she could have her revenge when she is free. Joey from Slipknot, who is dead since last year, from suicide, killed himself over witnessing Victoria get sealed in her glass prison, by me. Now I am on a quest to collect the planes, jets and heliocopters and break Victoria out of her glass prison for her revenge against David.
