yeah I drink but if my first experiences were people trying to push cheap drinks on me till I was wasted I probably wouldn't have started, "drinking culture" definitely kills it for a lot of people.

11:28 Fallingwater is a trip! My opportunity to visit was in the middle of summer, and That Shot™ that everyone gets was nothing but green trees. Suggest going for Fall colors. It's still a really cool tour even though they don't allow any photography inside the house.

The reason I was told no photography is that with multiple tours happening at the same time (a lot of people) they wanted people paying more attention to where they're walking to minimize risk of damage. If you could get access with far fewer other people around I would also assume photography would be allowed.

Lake Placid or Old Forge are two of our favorite places to visit in the Adirondaks pretty much any time of year. Lots of great places to hike, mountain bike, shop, eat and, drink!! Both have airfields in or close by

We are not big drinkers either... but there is a definite difference between having a glass of wine with dinner and going out with the intention of getting blasted. I thoroughly enjoy a glass of GOOD wine with dinner. Living here in Italy has been a bit of an eye opener on "drinking" culture. In the USA people drink to get drunk... here is a very social activity, very similar to the coffee culture here.

Upstate NY Adirondacks is awesome !! You will love it You have Lake George, Saratoga, and beautiful small towns up to Canadian border Catskills are nice just not the Adirondacks. Really read your map if you plan on any hiking depending where you are, there is rattlesnakes and cotton mouth water moccasin snakes.
