A simpler answer would be when you see a human, assume it is a rogue individual. They can be as friendly as from your family unit, without even knowing you, or incredibly hostile. That’s why humans are scared of humans

@@kriseller558 A polycule is a group that all has relations to one another (mainly romantic and sexual). So a group of three people where each member is romantically involved with the other two would be a polycule. But they can have any number of members greater than 2. It’s also like an established thing, where the whole relationship is agreed upon, I think open relationships are counted a totally different way.

I don't particularly like the one to one reading of actions as written, it feels too much like a roleplay and doesn't translate to read-aloud well imo. for example at 1:08 slightly editing it to something like "Well yes and no" Captain Vir says after a slight pause, rubbing the back of his neck" I can't quite explain it, but read both aloud to yourself and you'll just hear the difference in flow. It just feels more. . . idk, natural?

I do agree. I'm not a fan of how this one was written by the author. I ended up inserting multiple words to try and make it sound more natural. I'm hoping there are no future stories formatted like this one

And this is the problem some actual humans have with understanding queer people or people otherwise abnormal from their own experiences: Seeing people as biological *things* rather than social creatures with a complex network of behaviors. People are separate from most other animal species on earth because of this; we are the most socially advanced species on earth, beyond just our intelligence and self-awareness. People are different because we have set up our society to have things that set us apart from each other and allow us a *sense* of hierarchy that is different for different groups of people. Why are some people gay? Because they prefer that type of companionship. Why are some people poly and some aren’t? Because humans crave that amount of companions. The human mind is an absurdly massive branching tree of endlessly novel (different/new) patterns. You cannot make broad statements about humans socially without being wrong *for certain groups of people.* And even within those separate groups you can find other traits that separate those groups even further. You cannot generalize humanity very easily without making absurdly broad claims. Sometimes people just *are* and that’s perfectly normal.

Starr's HASO stories are definitely my most popular of the bunch so I don't intend to stop those any time soon. I myself haven't read every single one of them but if it ever gets to a point where I don't agree with something, I'll probably skip it. The only real plan I have is to just keep moving forward and hope the road ahead continues to support me lol
