"You can have a flirtatious relationship and still be married." I think part of the dysfunctional way superhero comics approach relationships is the idea that the fun, adventure, and romance dies the second you're married. That's only the case if you don't know how to write a romantic relationship, which seems to cover a lot of comics writers (TV writers too). The frustrating thing is when you have characters that make sense as a couple, and the only thing that screws it up is the attitude of editorial or fans. I know it's not the majority opinion, but I put Peter and MJ in that category. BTW, Wally West and Linda Park are other characters who really work as a couple.
