I have binge-watched all the videos about John and felt sorry for what happened to him and his relationship with Diana. I am 101% Filipino and I can tell you, guys, that most but NOT all Filipinas who are looking to marry an older foreigner online, whether it's American, Canadian, or European, are expecting that the guy they will marry will be able to help them get out of poverty. So if you are a retiree from America or another western country and you want to get into a relationship with a younger Filipina, who you know from a poor family, you should be aware that your girl is expecting you to provide not only for her but also for her immediate family. If you fail to become a good provider for your girl, expect that in the coming days, lots of quarrels between you will happen to the point that you will feel like you are not wanted anymore by your girlfriend. Again, I am not saying that all Filipinas are like this, but this happens. A young Filipina girl would never marry a guy that is 40 or 50 years older than her if she knows the guy would never be able to give him a better life (IMO). And to John, I wish you all the best sir.
@sluxi Жыл бұрын
Nothing should be surprising about this really, except for the expectation that the whole family is taken care of and not just her and her children. In most western countries people aren't expected to take care and finance the life of their parents (at least not while they are still in good health) so it seems to come as a surprise to some who have not done their research when that is typically expected if not explicitly addressed in countries like the Philippines or Thailand.

John broke the first law which is not to live under the same roof with the in-laws. This rule is more relevant in the Philippines. I'm a Filipino, grew up in the PI, and one thing I'm not proud of about our culture is parents using their children as retirement plans. If you are the foreigner who married their child and share the same dwelling, YOU will be the retirement plan. Yes, I've seen foreigners who live with their in-laws happily but that's a very minute exception and most of the time the parents are already financially secured, educated, or have good-paying jobs like policemen, teachers, doctors, or run their own business.

I agree, but it needs to be edited down to about three minutes. This gets very repetitive, yes we’ve heard about the neighbor‘s begging yes we’ve heard about the mother yes we hear how he got himself into the situation in the beginning, all of that needs to be condensed, this just drags out an hour plus the audio really needs adjusting on this. Paul is doing a great job with this and has what seems like a very educated approach to counseling, but a simple thing like sound could be greatly improved if he invested in a couple of $40 clip on microphones. Since Paul is a KZbin video maker, it would make sense to have the right microphones, also hanging a sheet or blanket on a couple of chairs behind the camera will reduce a lot of the echo. The stuff is seriously not rocket science

I've watched the whole saga from John's first interview. I get it that the boys over there are trying to be decent by rescuing the bloke.... but eventually patience will wear thin. I speak from experience of bailing people out..... John appears from the very start to be extremely gullible and lacking emotional intelligence. It's almost like he's lived with his own parents until recently and just breaking into adult life. His desire for a "girl" led to him getting rinsed out (move in, pay for a house, share resources), but not all going to plan (from Diana and her families perspective) when she gets pregnant. He said it himself that no-one was happy throughout the pregnancy except him... and they are even less happy to discover that he doesn't have a Federal Reserve account after all. It's blindly obvious, even in the interview, she's not bothered about him.... at all. More red flags than a chinese communist parade. He's not a victim, nor is she .... only those children are victims. Whether the babies are "beautiful" (as per the comments) or not is besides the point. They didn't consent to being brought into the world and they've inherited all this crap. Even if John could erase the past, he'd do it again.... and again. He'll be in love with the next barely adult "girl" he claps eyes on.
@ananumatanu76212 жыл бұрын
Well, you can't exactly change history, cause what is done is done... I mean, i kind of agree with you, as i think John has been blanketed most of he's life and since he moved to the Philippines, he has learnt the hard way and probably for the first time in he's life, but who knows; i could be wrong... But all in all, John and Diana are both responsible for all of this, regardless who might be older or more wiser; it doesn't take Einstein to figure out whats going to happen... They just need to take accountability for their actions and deal with it.
@downshift45032 жыл бұрын
@@ananumatanu7621 Yeah sure, he has done it before (barely adult girl, married her, got rinsed out). but managed to effectively erase the past (divorced). Learned nothing. What I'd call success at this point, as you say accountability / deal with it would be open honesty from Diana about the status quo on the relationship, acceptance from John that he has two children to support for many years. Lucky for him it seems US social security provides a surplus for children which he could funnel straight to her and hey presto he is bailed out by the US Government. Being an involved Father would be even better..... but the relationship? it's a load of rubbish.

Diana's face betrays everything she feels - wearied, depressed, sad and miserable towards this whole relationship. She smiles slightly when the babies are near, but her mind seems overwhelmed by despair. Perhaps there is some sincere love struggling far below the surface, but it's not enough to buoy her strength. My heart goes out to her more than anyone else. It was not her responsibility to orchestrate how this teaming up should play out and be managed - it was entirely John's responsibility when he asked her to marry him. However, it becomes more and more evident that he didn't give much foresight to his plans, and now he is reaping the rewards. He needs to do some serious introspection when in the US, and work like he's never worked before, if he intends to rectify this nearly doomed episode of his life. Paul has been an utterly life-saving friend for John in his unequivocal acceptance, tolerance, charity and encouragement. If anyone has had friends or family like that, it can be really difficult to manage those situations and often can beat you down to the point you make emotional decisions rather than logical ones. Maybe you can get Baby Mae to translate what you said about Social Security & DNA Test back into Diana's native language, so she will understand better. Since John has already had a stroke, there is a strong possibility of having a 2nd stroke, which will price John out of Life Insurance coverage. Tell her some Americans might try to scam the system by saying they fathered 3 children, to get more money from Social Security, when they fathered none. I've lived here in the Philippines since 2009 and have seen many people who been forced to the streets to beg for food by their family... I know this for a fact because my wife gets up 4am every Sunday to prepare chicken and rice and water tubes to distribute to four groups who lineup as follows... line 1 are widows... line 2 are street kids... line 3 are mom's with kids... line 4 are men (most of whom are drug addicts or alcoholics) and if any food is left over we give the remaining food and water to the mentally ill and drug addicts who are huddled up along the sidewalks and park pagodas. Because of this weekly experience with my wife for over a decade... I'm mystified why vloggers here on KZbin are seemingly unaware of the reality of life here in the Philippines. So this young lady's claim of how her family is treating her is not unusual... and she is lucky she has found someone to give her money for food... because hundreds if not thousands of Filipinos are routinely mistreated or abandoned by their families nationwide for being a financial burden to their family... so hopefully this man will continue to send money to his wife while he is in the USA... because if not... she could easily end up on the streets begging for food and end in food lines along with many others.

Golden Rule in the Philippines: if you are older by 20 years or more to your Filipina(many cases of filipina=19 , foreigner= 65 to 79 years old), your money is a fair trade, at least $300 for her family per month is a good deal. You got a wife for sex, you got a maid to clean, to cook , to wash your clothes, iron your clothes ,free tour guide, you can stay permanently without hassle and most importantly you have protection in the community. Don't go to the Philippines and live like a King without enough resources, do these foreigners wash and iron their clothes? No they use the Filipina as Sex and Maid, Here is a perspective , in USA if you use a young blonde american as Sex, Cook, Cleaner , Wash your clothes, Iron your clothes, Tour guide, it will cost you $10,000 a month. Remember this every family member in the Philippines must help her/his family if she/he can.

I don’t usually comment but I have to say Thanks Paul , without your help and the help of the others this family would be a lot worse off and I doubt John would be alive, he’s in between a rock and a hard place #1 he needs to go back home and have his health issues dealt with. I know how this looks to many others, all I can say is John is a warrior he stuck around until he was physically, mentally and financially drained ( good on him it shows he really tried giving 100% i honestly believe he will return. We all need to pray and hope John will get his health back mentally and physically, hope that lump on his neck is minor and it gets treated asap. Unfortunately I’ve seen this situation more than I care to share , times are tough for many families, I have seen the desperation it’s sad to see people sometimes walking an extra 2-3 kilometres in extreme heat to purchase food that might be ten cents cheaper than the sari sari store two minutes away. It’s true many locals when they see the white skin foreigner they assume he’s a multimillionaire , they don’t understand Lots of North Americans also struggle, maybe not on the same levels as Phillipinos but with inflation etc. it’s not the easy life by any means for some,I personally have met many people from my country (Canada) who meet Philippino ladies on dating sites who have to budget for a year just to afford the round trip to Philippines to meet,one thing is for sure most Ladies and there families are hard working appreciative folks and will show you what happiness is all about, even if they don’t have an easy life. I would suggest to anyone who plans on visiting Philippines to meet with someone they met online to be careful, make sure you spend lots of time online getting to know the person and don’t regardless of income divulge personal wealth until after you have met and have had lots of time getting to know each other and the family members. With that being said i met my Wife in 2011 on a dating site I read her profile,looked at her photos and decided to send a message, two weeks later she replied, why the long wait for a reply? She didn’t know her sister had signed her up while working as an ofw ( long story short she eventually found out and checked to see if any messages were in her emails.. she seen I had sent a message and sent me a response full of apologies for the delay in getting back to me , she explained she didn’t have internet,except when she’s at work.so for the following year we communicated daily and after one year she basically said what’s the deal? am I coming to visit or are we just going to be chat buddies lol …I could see the writing on the wall it was time to move forward two months later my then girlfriend and her entire family members met me in Manila after they all took a two day ferry from Mindanao to Manila where she worked. I knew shortly after i arrived she was a keeper, never once told me how hard life was and never once asked me for anything. All I know is after a few days it was easy for me to see these were all good people and life wasn’t easy, what meant the most to them was meeting me and getting to know me better because they wanted to make sure she was in good hands and would be safe. Married 2012 , moved to Canada to be with me in 2014 we now are happy, healthy and blessed to have a six year old Daughter. I feel like the luckiest, most blessed guy , every day is filled with total happiness. Cheers

Social security minimum benefit in 2022 is $950.80. you can receive up to 50% extra for each dependant under the age of 18 in the household. This is just from checking the SS website, but it looks like he would be getting around $1900 a month if he were getting it today. There should be a big Cola adjustment this year with inflation, but this number should be close

Here's an interview question: what was your life before you met John? And question to John: why did you choose this girl? Even if (big if) there's nothing inherently wrong with her, she comes from a crap situation. You say it's not your fault the way they treat you, but it is your fault you choose to get involved with her, and by association, them. So, again we ask, whose fault?
@RG-hf4et2 жыл бұрын
John is more at fault here, imho...... John is older & wiser. Diane is too young, barely experienced with any kind of normal life - basically a young girl, who is destitute and can barely feed herself and 1 child. Now she has 3 mouths to feed, a family that doesn't want to help her, no money, no man, no nothing, no help...... Smh......

Thanks for that. The take-home message if there is one is that if a foreigner starts a family in the Philippines that person needs financial resources to be independent as well as remunerate (give livestock as dowery back in the day) the parents for social integration with the community. Asian values have a different slant on classic economic capitalism which can be a problem for ex-pats, and I can understand that.

Too many guys get sucked into "helping the family" in their quest to find romance. They want to hold on to a female then she cries the blues for her family and helping them. I don't blame her/them in a way. These people are desperate. And this "rich" foreigner comes along with more money than they will ever see in their lifetimes....And how many times have I heard on this channel the female wants to buy A business or buy some land to build A house for the 2 of them and later adds on "her family" is part of the package. You guys are suckers for this stuff!!!!! Why? For getting involved with a poor young lady who is so desperate to help her life that she resorts to being with a man she probably really doesn't love but is a meal ticket!
