This was the best thing I have seen in a long time!! At 60 years of age I can testify that everything in life revolves around our relationship with ourselves, knowing yourself and most importantly loving yourself is key to loving someone else or letting them love you. Unresolved issues I think age us physically and spiritually. Love yourself because there is only one of you, and you are perfect! I tell myself that every day, I told my kids this and I now tell my grandkids. WE are not perfect but we are perfectly imperfect, that is the beauty of life. Thank you for sharing and sparking these conversations, we don't talk about any of this enough!

Here's a daddy issue... Mine just got diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer! I moved from California to New Hampshire about 6 years ago in an effort to find myself and find more freedom, but now, I have to go all the way back. And I HAVE to. My Dad has limited time and I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't get back there as soon as possible and spend as much quality time as I can. My mother, who is miraculously still together with him after all these years, needs all my help through this process and beyond. I will be moving back in the next month or so, and I know that's the right thing to do. Nevertheless, it's tough to make a huge life change like that. Wish me luck!

Parents, for better or worse, have a way of pulling you back in, don't they? It's not their fault, and I do think you're making the right decision. I gave up a lot of my own dreams when my dad had a stroke. He's still with us, but he's never worked, or even driven a car, since. It's a decision that you hope you never have to make, but you know what decision you have to make when it happens. They took care of you growing up and you just return the favor because you love 'em. If you're going back to your old home town, look up some of your old friends and catch up on things when you need some time to yourself. There may be another reason that life is drawing you back there. Best wishes and God bless you and your family.

That is what being human is: evolving and growing into the next, hopefully better version of ourselves. Thanks for opening up this kind of conversation and I like the segment idea! You may be a beautiful and very intelligent young lady and I am an old dog (83) but I am extremely happy that I found your channel a year or so ago. I think you must be an inspiration to a lot of young people that are not sure where they should go in this crazy world. You are an excellent example of how one can be open to others but also know what should be private. Your journey has been long and I believe there have been many happy times and some that were not so happy but that is part of life and you are approaching it in an open way. You are a fantastic person for Rio, what a journey she is on with you. We all love you and wish you nothing but the best. For almost 50 years I was in one of those relationships where what I did was never good enough but I stayed with her until her death because that was what the vows we said at our wedding said I should do. As a result I have not received much love for many years and have been trying to change that over the past 6 years but it is difficult to find new love, true love, at my age. Some of the places you have travelled to are beautiful. Some of those gatherings with other nomads appear to have been magical and great for both your heart and your soul. If you ever decide to travel north to Western Canada I would love to show you our part of the Rocky Mountains. Once again I say thank you for taking us along on your journey and I hope you have lots of wonderful experiences ahead of you. I also hope that somewhere along your path you find a wonderful 'gentleman' that is open to showing you lots of love and care in whatever way you would like and not just how he wants things. They are hard to find but there are some great ones out there. I look forward to your next video whenever you post. You are beautiful in many more ways than just your good looks.

Very well spoken, coming from a soon to be 65 yr old. 2 marriages, 1st one shared to much, 2nd I was just the $$ maker and that wasn't ever enough, it lasted 21 yrs. At my 40th class reunion I did meet (again), the love of my life ! We made the perfect team. We lived our dream for a short 2 1/2 years (together 4 yrs). But our dream was together and only a few little spats it was wonderful. We took care of each other. She suddenly passed away. And I have been aimless since. Regretlyss is traveling many places we traveled and enjoyed. I am grateful for your openness. I love that you have settled in the mountainous area. I love winter, my fiancee after living in Tucson for 40 years loved the winter too. Regretlyss you are more beautiful inside then out and very beautiful outside. Hugs Hon. As for you in north Canada, best of luck. Look up some old classmates, you might be surprised.

Hi Alyssa, I LOVED this style of video, I think you have found your calling! I also think ‘ask Alyssa’ is the perfect name for this segment! I watch a lot of Van life videos and I think you’re right to have a mix of your whole life, from Van life to cottage renovations to wisdom, it keeps it interesting! So many Van lifers run out of steam after a while, and you can tell they are either desperately trying to force something to be interesting or they end up posting erratically. The way you are doing it it much more fluid and more ‘real’. Like we are coming along in life with you, as you said. And you are sharing your wisdom learnt along the way. Which is much appreciated! I think you have more depth and wisdom than many folk twice your age, and a very clear, gentle, non judgemental and concise way of putting things, that’s a real gift, please continue to use it. ‘Be a force for good’ springs to mind, because that’s what you’re doing here! Looking forward to what you create next! Shell 💖

I've had " Daddy " issues in my life. My dad was emotionally unavailable. He was a great person, provided for all of us kids and did everything for us. There were instances where I was badly hurt by his not meeting my emotional needs. It caused me great problems with men in my life. I recognize the correlation between my dad and what I didn't get from him and how I had such a bad time staying in relationships. I also realize and wondered what kind of upbringing did he have. I think it comes full circle in the dysfunction with our families. I forgive my dad who isn't with me anymore. He did the best he could and I truly loved him. I loved your comment to the person who is in love with his sons girlfriend. This situation has boundaries and I agree what you said about trying to figure out why he has these feelings. I think you are a very bright and lovely young lady. You will definitely go far in life. I wish you the very best. Stay safe through your wonderful journey of life!! ❤

wow...that is exactly my story!! And my dad did have a rough upbringing. His own father never told him he loved him even once in his whole life. All of his family are weird, I mean like they don't share their feelings, never say I love you, etc. If you walk up to them and try to hug them because you haven't seen them in a long time- they back away and act like you're trying to give them the plague or something. Which was hard growing up because my moms family are the exact opposite. And yes.. this was the cause of all of my relationship failures, bad partner choices, etc.

And then my now my Mom who is slowly dying from COPD. And now, I have no help beside my Mother in law and wife to help take care of her. And it's a struggle. My entire life has changed and I haven't been happy in a long time. Oh and my fur baby of 15 years died. I just feel trapped, alone, scared and not sure how to help her. On top of that, as an online entrepreneur, due to everything that happened my business took a hit. And now I'm unsure what to do. For the first time ever, I have no clue what to do as an entrepreneur now. So I've been trying to find myself, find healing and happiness. And it hasn't been easy. It's a journey and I appreciate your channel because I can tell you're also on a journey of healing, discovery and learning who you are. So here's too traveling this road with you and everyone else here. Thank you! Also, any books you read you feel or your heart feels could help me on this journey? @@REGRETLYSS I really enjoyed how you have taken the approach that if you want others to open up and be vulnerable, starting with yourself creates a space for others to follow suit. I was in a relationship with a girl for 11 years who had issues with her dad. When she decided to end our relationship, it was so she could be with a guy that was her dads age and who was emotionally bankrupt... just like her dad. And the funny part... he had the same name as me. Trading Ricks... could be an updated movie like Trading Places. I'm really glad KZbin decided to recommend your channel. Hi Alyssa. I appreciate your willingness to have the difficult conversations. Here are a couple things I have learned about the topics you have pointed too. In order to have/experience Love, Trust, Integrity, Appreciation, Acknowledgement, Self esteem etc. You have to have them already in place for you. Give them to yourself. One must be the other side of the magnet to allow it to stick. Its like meeting someone who doesn't honer personnel boundaries. They haven't created any for themselves so they don't recognize what they are. Moving out of the mind/EGO and into your HEART it allows the ability to feel emotions. 😘

Dr. Phil, years ago, pointed out that if you don’t receive love and respect from your father, you will not look for it or expect it from the men in your life. You will only look for sex. That was a revelation for me as that had been my pattern for many years. I also did not look for emotionally receptive men because I was not emotionally receptive either. Actually, all of the men in my life were versions of my mother- unloving . I made that connection too late in life to make any changes that would have brought me happiness. It was only with the appearance of shows like Oprah and Dr. Phil did I become more self aware and gain an understanding of my motivations and choices. I just wish those shows had been around in my formative years so that I could have achieved more happiness in my life. People like to denigrate those shows now but before they were broadcast, there was very little discussion nationally of sensitive issues. It is great that you are spending time getting to know yourself better. At the same, don’t spend too much time on that mountain. At 75, I can tell you that youth is fleeting and time accelerates as you get older.

Also, life ain't that long, don't make it complicated by studying every little part of it. Just live it as full as possible and enjoy and learn from it. Studying and analizing it is what makes life messed up. If you want to try something, try it, if it fits, do it again. If it doesn't fit don't do it. It's that simple. I traveled around this country for many years by being a nomad the hard way, I did it on 2 wheels, not 4 and it was a lot of fun until winter came. You have inspired me to be a nomad on 4 wheels now and I thank you for that.

Thank you for the book love prescription. I also feel trapped with someone that has bi polar making me walk on egg shells.. otherwise, yes I feel a deep desire to transform all my areas of life. I am almost done with my parents estate. Ready to restart my lives purpose. It's been overwhelming but blessed. Your videos and experiences have pushed me through emotional trauma. Lastly, the act of being patient is a big lesson of trust. I have dealing with losing my job in 2018 then started to become a caretaker to both parents by taking them to appointments, cleaning house, doing repairs and money management. Plus, dealing with there estate since Sept 2021. Wow! Learning how strong and resourceful I am. Lastly, yes, I have been on a personal growth, spiritual healing and wellness path for a long time. Unsure what path I will take after the estate is done. First, #1.. heal from long term anxiety and trauma. Then find a way to sort through over 30 years of research on mind, body, spiritual, relationships, business, wellness, and success strategies to find my path. Thanks ☮️☺️

Our childhood is such a big part of our life and development . Our parents can cause trauma that we deal with for many years . We need to realize their faults are not caused by you .Forgiveness can lift a lot weight off us. I had a complicated relationship with both my parents. I learned forgiving them benefited me the most . I forgave my father a few years before he pasted away . My forgiveness didn’t mean we had a relationship. My forgiveness with mother allowed us to have a relationship but our relationship has not returned to complete mother son relationship I’ve learned to except what have . The forgiveness has soothed the pain of my childhood. I just wanted to give you a big hug to let you know everything will be alright .

I like when you mix things up and have chats/sharing/advice response vids even if I came here for the nomad content initially. And I also have issues with emotionally (and often geographically) unavailable men, so haaaaay. One reminder is just to add the resources you mentioned for the person/people looking to leave their relationship with a big caveat that it’ll look very different if that relationship is abusive.

From a grand scale of things point of view, looking at everything including stds, partners abuse, unwanted pregnancies, drama, psychological abuse and people's perceptions of a person which matters because it affects some people; Its wise to be monogamous or have less intimate partners. This comes from someone who loves women. I thank this queen for being authentic especially on the daddy issues.

Alyssa, I love your at heart content and journey you are on. Your words are truly from the heart and words beyond your years. Two months ago, I lost my wife of over 41 years to a rare neurological disease that required me to be her caregiver for the past 5 years. My choice to care for her and put my life on hold to honor my wedding vow to her, our life was not always smooth sailing, we definitely had our fair share turbulent weather and rough seas. Communicate, communicate, communicate!! Thank you for this journey! ❤❤ If you continue this type periodically; “Confession’s at Heart”.

I grew up in the 70's. It was a Freer time in life. It's amazing to watch how the younger crowd are finally rejecting all this woke mentality stuff. Whatever your truth is, just go with it. Don't try and push your truth on others, and reject those that do. You'll be a lot happier when you quit trying to impress others. On a side note Lyss, it was funny to "read between the lines, self first" while you were talking about sexuality, LOL. Fun channel, keep it up. Thanks.

I am glad you are doing what YOU want to do, and how you want to do it! Glad you keep the background music low, while talking!! Your words made so much sense. Thumps up.
