After watching your length retention video last week I applied the method of braiding my hair in four sections whilst washing and honestly it was the best wash day I’ve had in God knows how long. Was easy to wash, apply the conditioner to my hair but the best part was that my hair wasn’t tangled and was even easier to detangle. Thank you so much for the suggestion and God bless xx

I just saw one of your videos and instead of shampooing this weekend, I think I will try the oil saturation and keep in bonnet. Since I'm retired, I'm very fortunate to be able to do this. Hey Ianna, I'm about to get my hair professionally relaxed for the first time and it's a bit damaged; in terms of breakage and recently a bit of thinning from a protein treatment I did, and I’m wondering how should I style my hair after it's relaxed and what oils should I put in as well. After watching you videos, I’m planning on drenching my hair with oil and wearing buns but I wanted to get your opinion on what I should do with my hair in this situation. A bit long winded but your videos have been so helpful and I wanted to get advice from you :)💕
@IannaYvonne3 жыл бұрын
Hello!! I’m glad you are getting your first relaxer professionally done. The hairstylist will most likely use moisturizing products and remove any damaged hair/ends at that time. I usually get my hair roller set and wrap it when at home to keep it protected. Sometimes I keep it wrapped for days (weekends when I’m home and not going out). I do this because the least amount of manipulation you do to your hair on a daily basis the better for length retention. Really any style is good if you can MINIMIZE heat application and daily hair manipulation. As far as hair oils I recommend all natural products. Coconut oils, avocado oil and olive oil are three oils small enough to penetrate the hair shaft and have moisturizing properties. I use a hair oil called Unlay which has aloe Vera coconut oil and Argan oil. Amazing for scalp health and hair moisturizing. Another all natural vegan hair oil is Ethereal hair growth oil. A bit thicker than unlay but still amazing for scalp and hair health. I typically only use oils with moisturizing properties. That works for my hair but you may want to try a cream moisturizer ( water base) first and then seal with an oil especially with protein overload. I like Shea moisture coconut milk & acacia Senegal leave in. Hope this helps a bit. Reach out with any more questions you may have. Thanks for watching 💕

I don’t have Unlay hair oil just coconut, olive, jojoba, almond and Castro coconut oil, peppermint oil and lavender oil and I finally got the olaplex 3 in the mail! Do you wash like this all the time? I get confused on how to wash my relaxed hair and when to add oil and which oil to use since I have so many oils!! Do you do oil treatments too and how often please? I did this method but did you add shampoo to dirty water or separate. Unfortunately my braids came out when I put my conditioner in 😂 and I use olive oil in my conditioner. Thanks ❤️
@IannaYvonne3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Thank you for watching ❤️ Yes I always wash like this when I wash at home. Did you secure the braids with the band at the ends? I have to use them and sometime the braid will still unravel lol. As long as I make it to the conditioner I don’t worry too much about it. 😆 if I wash in the shower I apply the shampoo directly to my scalp. If I am washing in the sink I use the nozzled bottle and mix the soap and water... then apply the soapy water to my scalp.

Hello!! I don’t shampoo the braids. I only wash my scalp and rinse my hair. You don’t want to strip your hair too much so washing the roots only and not the hair strands is best. After I condition my hair and take the braids out I do a more thorough rinse. 💕

Hi do you experience more shedding and tangles the longer you go without a relaxer?
@IannaYvonne3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Thank you for watching 💕. Usually when I’m 12 weeks or more post relaxer I use low manipulation styles to avoid the tangling and breakage. So I’ll put my hair in a bun and tie it down at night. I’ll do that for a week or two. Then wash, style (low manipulation) and repeat until I relax. I don’t really notice excess shedding. Stretching relaxers usually decreases excessive hair shedding. I relax every 4-5 months.

What was your wash routine when your hair was neck length?
@IannaYvonne2 жыл бұрын
Similar… but without the braids. place your fingers at the roots and wash root/scalp only. No scrunching up the hair on top of your head. Keep the hair DOWN in the direction you comb while washing. It keeps the hair from becoming too tangled. Also be sure to pre- detangle before you wash. This also make after wash detangling MUCH easier. Thank you for watching 💕

What if the hair is short...I mean shoulder length
@IannaYvonne3 жыл бұрын
Hello. The shorter your hair the more challenging it will be but if your hair is shoulder length you should be able to use this technique. If not then try to wash your hair keeping the same principles: 1.Only wash the roots to prevent excessive striping and drying 2. Do not tangle when washing by flipping and scrunching hair. Try to wash in the shower and keep your hair in one direction ( hanging down) 3. Use a soft detangling brush that won’t rip through your hair. Keep these in mind while washing and you should be fine.
