"The longer my hair grew, the more unruly it became to maintain it." I felt that. I used to be obsessed with having long natural hair, but it's not even worth it. You go through so much trouble to grow it long, but can't even wear it in a cute style because it causes too many tangles.

@@strawberryfraisier6446 I used to think the same that the longer my hair the harder and longer it will take to maintain it but now with tall bone length it takes me mixum 40 minutes weekly and I'm ready to go until the next wash day. I’ve been natural for five years and the longer it gets, the more difficult it is to maintain, which is why I wear mini braids for an entire month. I love my natural hair, but it’s understandable why people go back to relaxers: it’s easier to maintain. You can put your hair in a pony and leave! Oh no! I heard it's bad to go more than 4 months without retouching because the relaxed hair will get tangled with the new growth and break off. I hope your hair is okay, try keeping your hair in protective styles while you wait for the retouch

Im happy that you didn't allow for anyone to make your decision. Ive been relaxed ( ORS) for years, and Im waist length. Natural aint for everyone. As we each should be lifting each other up versus pulling our own down. Honestly, it's a form of bullying. For relaxed hair you must take care of your ends, and keep your hair oiled. Take care of your scalp. Also, dont relax as often. Back in the 80's, and 90's people would relax once a month, and we lost majority of our hair. Sad, but true. Deep condition with heat, monthly. Lastly, Relax only about three to four times a year. Some people only relax twice per year, but my hair would be gone with that idea. God, bless!

@@catherinex7384 Either you big chop, which is essentially cutting all your relaxed hair off and starting over or you transition which is letting your natural hair grow while trimming the relaxed hair. Omg I love your results!!!! The truth is, natural or relaxed, it’s being done on the white mans time. Before slavery, we didn’t “need” relaxers because our hair thrived in its natural environment of butters, Chebe powders, natural fats, earths, muds, clays, and special concoctions based on the climates we lived in. We spent hours on end styling our natural hair in intricate, indigenous styles synonymous with our unique cultures. Because of slavery, the laws created against our hair, European influence, and the way whites scrutinized every single second of the day, I understand that the consequences of being removed from our natural, cultural, indigenous environment is the difficult decisions we make today whether to be natural, or relaxed. It’s not a coincidence that our coily hair isn’t manageable enough for quick presentable solutions, it was designed that way by the white mans intentional lack of accommodation for ethnic hair. That’s why I’m personally disgusted with my 4c hair. Even though it’s medium density, my fine strands are extremely delicate and snap easily. I wished I could go back to relaxers, but my hair was just too fragile and limp when I tried to wear it down, in braid outs, roller sets, etc. I’m currently growing into that awkward length of apl/bsl, with even-ish ends and I may consider silk pressed heat training, or Japanese thermal reconditioning by the end of this year.

I've been natural for the better part of five years and I'm really battling with whether or not to relax it. My hair is too thick/long to fit cute under weaves and wigs even WITH tracks, my natural curls are thick w a tight ass cuticle so it takes hours just to moisturize my hair, and when I press it I live my life around whether or not my hair will revert. I braid my own hair too, and it takes me so long but it's also the only time my hair is truly manageable/I don't have to worry about it, but it gave me traction alopecia.. I feel literally stuck. I think my curls are beautiful and when they're cute, they're really stinking cute.. but damn it is a lot of time consuming work just to maintain and running from humidity/heat/rain is just tew much rn

If I had your hair type I would too. I have 4C hair and I think the furthest your curl pattern is form relax hair the more likely you'll deal with breakage and 4C hair is the worst. I've texlaxed my hair twice before and each time wasn't a good experience so I'll still with my natural hair and use the Tymo straightener which has been amazing for my hair when I want a more blow out look. Though I notice it dries faster that's the downside.

LOOL at your intro girl and this whole video you're hilarious girl ! I have been natural for five years and I would not go back personnally but I feel you on being tired of the maintenance ! Protective styles help me a lot with that if I am too tired I put a wig on or braids and usually after 6 weeks I am okay spending time with my hair again haha.

Haha that's awesome! I liked being natural when my hair was shorter but now that it's getting longer, it gets tangled more 😭 I couldn't handle it no more 😩

Thanks hun❤️Honestly, the natural hair community has become so toxic! Being natural isn't for everyone, so if people want to give me hate, then oh well 🤷🏾♀️

So relaxing it is like permanently straightening your hair. 🤔
@janetonyoutube6383 жыл бұрын
Yep. But people who don’t want too straight hair can texturise their hair instead
