Austin you saint! Couldn't have come at a better time. I was really stressed from my work and was just headed here to listen to some of your Journey music to calm myself down when I saw this in my notifications.

Beautiful rendition of the Final Confluence! I Hope you could release all this music or just Traveler - A Journey Symphony as an LP. As a collector I treasure my copy of the Vinyl version of Journey

This is quite pulchritudinous, and I exceedingly adore thy commentary sire. Thee would be delighted to see a full length video of thou breaking down one of your compositions and elucidating why you chose thy musical notes which you did. In any case my beloved monsieur, I treasure your work immensely and I listen to it quite customarily, so allow me to confer to you my sempiternal gratitude.

Hats of @Slywolf, it's rare I have to look up a word! You might find what you're looking for in the form of an "As Noted" episode or the "Anatomy of a Scene" ERICA video. Both of those have lots of process analysis. And stay tuned because I'm working on one right now that might shed some light!

@@awintory I'm ever so exultant by your retort sire! I'm currently composing for a game and crafting a meaningful arrangement is the one matter that thee scuffle with the most out of all of the impediments that come within this field. It's quite a facile task to fabricate a few aimless chords and bestow a desultory, yet beguiling melody on top. Or alternatively, to extemporize an unsystematic assemblage of notes on the piano until a tolerably congenial idea comes out. But I've been a lot more drawn to thine philosophy of musical expression in a more profound way than is feasible by the pure intuition. Calamitously sire, recasting my emotions with notes presumptively goes as far as employing a minor key to portray dolefulness or harnessing a major key to depict gaiety. Ne'er in my continued existence have I been able to relate a specific emotion to say, some distinct combination of notes, if that stands to reason. And quite lamentably, I seem to find very few interviews where composers are asked to go in depth over their compositional process which seems quite ironic, purely by definition of their craft. But to counterbalance that sire, I've found your interviews vastly insightful and thence, I will fossick through thine ratified videos, indefatigably hunting for more plummets of your sapience.

Lot's of stuff I didn't know yet, this is great! So much live performed instruments, I like it a lot. Do you even use samples or MIDI?

I try to be very selective and strategic about how I use samples / VSTs etc. Generally, if I'm able to replace it with a musician, I will do my damndest!

i don't know how to say 盲听 in english. this word means: you listen to a piece of music without knowing the writer or composer, and then you tell by your instinct if you like this music or not. i like it, just like i enjoyed aliens fireteam elite ost.
