Worked like a charm for my 2017 Silverado 1500! There was a slight twist in that my horn never beeped when letting out pressure, instead of the horn beeping twice while deflating, the "ad air" (or low tire pres) icon came on for that particular tire. When airing up, the left turn signal started blinking while filling the left tire, rt signal while doing the right tire, etc. Also the horn beep twice when it got to 35 psi. This is where I stopped as I didn't rotate my tires, I blew out the passenger front. Thanks brother!

Interesting. I'm a general service tech and I frequently work on GM vehicles, especially the full-sized SUVs. I think I'll give this method a try when our Bartec breaks again.

It has work on many GM's for me. You just need to know what you need to do to initiate the process, such as with colorado's turn headlight switch 4 times or something like that.

Thanks Mike . . . I have a 2012 Volt with only 20K. Right front went flat. No spare, long story short, AAA towed the Volt home. My floor jack wouldn't fit under the car to the lift point. The inflator/sealant got it up enough to set the jack. Got the tire off and Firestone said. nope, once you put sealant in the tire, we can't repair. OK, bought new tire. I'd like the new tire to be on the rear. So, your brilliant relearn should work. "If you can get somebody else to do it, you're probably better off" Mike, you didn't really mean that, did you ? ? I always try to do it myself . . and I love tools, can't have too many. Thanks again, and take care. Bob

Great video, but I have been told that bleeding the air for only 5 sec should do it. You do not need to bleed the air until the beep is heard. The beep will still takes some time, but it will still work. This way should avoid having to refill afterwards due to the time it takes for the TPMS to reset.

The Disgruntled Mechanic I recently had to put a new wheel on my Opel Karl or as us Brits know it as the Vauxhall Viva due to a buckled driver's side front wheel which has now been replaced but had to buy a new tpms sensor and valve stem. Is this relatively easy to do as its my first car with tpms built in?
@TheDisgruntledMechanic
@TheDisgruntledMechanic 6 жыл бұрын
I am not familiar with either of these cars so I really can't tell you if it will work. Many new cars it will not work on it seems. Sorry I can't help more. You can follow the instructions and see if it works! no guarantee it will work. P.S I meet Mick Foley in person a few years back and got to chat with him. A great guy!

I check your time,what you spend on second,third and fourth tires. I waited less,than you (around 25 seconds max) and stopped my reset. Now I will do longer,like you. On first tire you spend 14 sec.,on next three-45 sec for each. Wait...I have to wait. Thanks,my friend. I believe I can do reset with your recommendation. We will see tomorrow. :)

I was not expecting an intro! Very nice intro to boot. What I noticed that I think is cool is, after the first horn blow to go in to relearn, the driver mirror signal lit and stayed lit until horn blew again saying to move to next tire. Then passenger mirror signal stayed lit until that tire was relearned. The vehicle tells you what tire it wants! I wonder if a rear turn signal or tail light stays lit for the rear tire relearns too?
@TheDisgruntledMechanic
@TheDisgruntledMechanic 8 жыл бұрын

@Jon.Rushing
@Jon.Rushing 8 жыл бұрын
Yup I noticed the lights following you. Too bad you didn't move the camera to the back. I would have enjoyed knowing the vehicle has the programming and could blink a single reverse light or tail light for the tire it wants. Maybe redo the relearn just to see lol...

For anyone with a Volt 2013 or older, this trick doesn't work, sadly. In their infinite wisdom, GM took away this functionality for some ungodly reason. The stupid tool is the only way, aside from using a very strong magnet if you happen to have one, but that doesn't work as reliably.
@TheDisgruntledMechanic

Good to know on the newer Volts because I just bought a 2017. And GM also did not offer the homelink on the 2017 volt. Very stupid IMHO!
