Another excellent video Santee, well done!! Religion was huge in the union soldiers/federal army during Civil war/ old west when before every time they rode out got a "blessing". When I started researching my ancestor, I found out his mother was a Muslim and was abandoned my her family for falling in love with a Christian and falling pregnant with his child, they married by a preacher, but she keep her faith, and he had his. Religion was used by both good and evil men to further thier own agenda, which in its own had good and bad outcomes, but for religion we all would be worse off.

Excellent video with equally sharp research. Thanks for clip from Buck and the Preacher. Not many such clips available. It was my fortune to spend time with Ed Keylocko who built his own remote town with a church where he preached. Kinda old timey vibes in the last black Freetown. One of the few movies with sort of a religious theme was Heaven With A Gun filmed at the original Old Tucson movie set. Sundt construction got the contract to build the barn as complete building. My father was the foreman of the project. I used to work with some of the guys who built this bsrn. The set owners and investors stopped by to see the progress and spoke with the foreman. My dad had convinced me esrlier to buy the minimum block of shares in Old Tucson stock. During discussion with the Suits the foreman casually mentioned that his son was also a stock holder. The Suits perked up at the foreman's new importance and quickly invited him to their special lunch! Being obliging he quickly accepted.

Most of my family were Catholics who moved to Iowa, Indiana and Wisconsin. My Great Great Grandfather, was a catholic from Norway and had a love for his home country. Even had a calendar of the King of Norway. Most of my family is Irish, Scottish and German Catholic. However, we do sometimes believe in some paranormal stuff, that isn't supported by the church. Ghosts, aliens, etc. I remember Saint Patrick's Day, along with St. Nicholas Day. St. Nicholas Day is before Christmas, where you get candy in your shoes. It's a German and Nordic Holiday amongst Catholics.
@austinwhite4626 Жыл бұрын
The tradition of St. Nicholas day is to celebrate the giving aspect of Christmas, but in a pious manner. In a story St. Nicholas gave golden coins to a father who was trying to marry his daughters. Who needed a dowery. Traditionally kids can get money from their parents or chocolate coins. My Grandma gave Black Licorice Coins from the Netherlands.

I believe my great great great great grandfather was a Methodist Circuit rider in Mississippi in the 1830s-1850s. His daughter married my great great great grandfather who was a Constable and later a Confederate lieutenant or captain. I think they were in or near Winston County. Years ago I worked in piney woods Trinity County, Texas in Groveton doing petroleum landwork. People at either the county clerk’s office or the title plant told me that 150 years ago the disputes between land owners on either side of the county was so great that the Methodist preacher had to keep a .45 Colt on the pulpit next to The Holy Bible to make sure things stayed peaceful among the congregation

It often gets overlooked that Judeo Christian values were the glue that held the US together as a unified cohesive community of values. Without it we have seen the unraveling of the Union unlike anytime before in its history. We have always been diverse, so what’s changed? The fact that we no longer share like values, and serve a sense of a higher power than ourselves. Division now rules the day and no one is charitable towards each other. Regardless of one’s opinions of God or religious inclination, religion did offer some huge benefits in the earlier history of the USA.
@ArizonaGhostriders2 жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone can argue that the spiritual belief system in the 20th century offered huge benefits. We see it in writings, statues, plaques, etc. Yeah, today things are definitely strained!

Here’s a paragraph from my old West inspired novella story series: During the dark era of the world of Terragartha in tge occult esoteric/old West future , the insidious Darkling Brethren invaded the world and began their rule over Terragartga alongside the dark Eldritch. All the remaining true history and origins of Terragartga, which lays underground were further suppressed and/or destroyed. Only three of the mystic technological computer techBooks remained. Those books were the Lheviticus Dèvalla and two unnamed others. The ancient Mysteriarch order of Exuvia began actively against the Darkling Brethren and the dark Eldritch. The Aurorealis investigation agency and The frontier rangers of Dheneb fought alongside the Mysteriarch order. As soon as the great Darkling invasion began, the sacred prayer energy within the lands of Terragartha began fading as the shadowy power of the Darkling EverDark sapped it away. The dangerous and toxic Noxium-Ecto particles rained down upon Terragartha as well. Everything the particles touched, withered and turned into hideously nightmarish lifeforms on contact. Most of the worlds inhabitants had their spirit force sapped from them and turned into malevolent beings called Phantorium-Deadings. Only very few inhabitants of Terragartha survived. They were mostly the agents/rangers of the three ancient organization groups of the world of Terragartha and their families. I hope you all really like this paragraph from my old West inspired novella story series
