as someone who grew up with extremely religious parents, hello, religion is not for everyone! religion actually made me feel miserable and traumatized me, thanks. like, if religion makes you happy then that's awesome af, but these assholes who go out and preach like this are so manipulative it's disgusting. they take your silence as proof that you're "struggling" like you're listening and starting to believe, and if it DOES work on you, they go HARD on fueling that flame and making sure you feel guilty for *not* believing in god. they get weak people by acting extremely confident in their beliefs, acting like it's the One Truth(tm) and saying they know that you're considering converting or whatever and know how you feel. so basically like cult leaders. a lot of christians really need a wake up call, they need someone to tell them that everyone is different and what works for them isn't what's going to work for everyone else. christianity traumatized me and growing up with the mindset that I have to listen to people who speak confidently like that ended up getting me in a lot of other bad scenarios, but those types of christians don't wanna talk about that. they don't wanna talk about how authority figures gaslight younger people when they start "straying from the path". they claim they "love everyone" but nah, they don't love you for you, they will love you if you become like them, though. my parents said they'd love me no matter what but they tried to tell me I was "letting the devil into my heart" when I started dressing goth. literally over clothes lol. and it wasn't like extreme goth or anything. they'd throw away my older siblings' CDs because they thought the pop punk they listened to was "evil". I haven't even told them about me being pan and nonbinary yet because I can't imagine their reaction. oh, and "pro life" people are not pro life lol, they're pro babies. they don't care if you'd rather kill yourself than carry a child and don't care what happens to the child after it's born. I'm not against christianity but I am absolutely viscerally against people who force their opinions down other people's throats and can't acknowledge their own faults. they preach that you're sinning but can't acknowledge that their words can hurt people, that their own damn religion can hurt people. oh, and the idea that christians are better than everyone else because they "don't care about material things" is so funny. of course a bunch of rich cishet people are going to tell you that money doesn't buy happiness. and they act like christianity would solve the problem of billionaires being heartless (and pretend that all super wealthy christians who act heartless are "not real christians") and completely ignore the fact that there are nonreligious people and other religions that focus on true happiness > materials things or whatever. hell, I'm kinda spiritual (in a way my parents would not approve of lol) because that makes me happy, and sure I have my problems, but being greedy isn't one of them. and if someone finds genuine happiness in buying a cool car, who cares? I find genuine happiness in buying craft supplies and things that are nice to look at, because I didn't have those a lot growing up. I wouldn't choose those things over nonmaterial things that make me happy like making friends or spending time with my bf. but again, if someone is happier with items than people, who fucking cares lol. your idea of happiness isn't universal. if someone wants to sleep with a lot of people, who cares as long as they're being responsible? if someone wants to spend the rest of their life working, who cares? if someone wants to love a sex doll instead of a real person, who cares? it's not your place to judge a bunch of strangers on a train and decide all of them are shallow and only care about money, or that that's a problem needing to be fixed, or that it can only be fixed by religion. also tbh I've met a lot of atheists, online at least, who really act like that lol. I think it was more of a trend years ago but I've met a lot of people who thought they were superior for not believing in anything spiritual/etc at all. like the type of person to remind you that "love is just a chemical in the brain". annoying af. I had a hard atheist phase but I'm glad I wasn't THAT bad lol. my friends and I like to call them "religious atheists" because they really do act like atheism is an organized religion, just not a spiritual one. like bro your beliefs are still beliefs lol, you can't prove that a god or ghosts or w/e don't exist any more than someone could prove they do exist, we're all just out here believing whatever feels right and makes the most sense to us, and that's not a bad thing! why do hardcore atheists act like belief is a bad thing? lol

It literally says in the bible that if the word of god isn't welcome in a place you need to move on and stop bothering people. Because it drives people from god. I think its somewhere in Matthew.

These guys are taking out their grievances/frustrations on other people while behind the shield of "religion". I feel like someone who s truly secure in their religion wont feel the need to shove it in other peoples faces....It s rlly cringey to watch.

I'm a volunteer technician at the local Christian radio (i'm an atheist myself), and those people there are so wholesome, accepting, and generous folks - the nicest people I have ever met. We are aware about each other's beliefs, but able to openly talk about it, and we respect each other's views and opinions. I believe this is how true Christians should behave.

As someone born and raised in very religious country with Roman Catholicism being a main one allegedly, I know there is something called the doctrine of other people's sin or whatever you call it in English. Basically it states that being indifferent to someone else's sin is a sin on it's own. So a lot of peopel like this don't really go out and preach because they care about strangers going to hell, they are afraid of going to hell themselves for "not trying to prevent others from sinning".

I never once felt like going to church wasn't boring. All you do is walk inside, sit, then listen to the dude read, then repeat words, then sit, listen some more, then repeat words, then stand up, then sit, then listen again, then stand up and walk to the dude and eat a piece of cardboard and...you get the point.

This video was so triggering! Gave me flashbacks to all the times I was condemned as a bad person and "prayed for" in order to have my soul saved just because I didn't (don't) have the same religious views as the majority of the people in my home country, as well as for my having piercings and tattoos, and for not being a hetero-cis. Religious DOES NOT equal good person. Being a good person = being a good person.

As a Christian myself, I’m glad the old man said something. I wouldn’t want someone preaching at me in a cramped space where I can’t choose to leave. The guy preaching should have kept it to himself and done it on a street corner like that lady said. I’m all for helping people but preaching at people and trying to get people to convert is a part of the faith that I choose not to participate in. I like what Elvis said, if they want to seek it out they’ll do it themselves. And he’s right. All that we have to do is just treat people like they’re people. No religion or preaching needed.
