Reloading 308 Win. with W748 and IMR4064 powders

The more I watch your vids the more I like it. 7mmRem Mag and 308. My 2 main rifle calibers over the years. Good job. Oh and my son is a 30/06 guy. So you hit all our bases.

@@30-06john Look forward to it.He put in for his first elk tag this year and didn't get drawn. So we are going hunt whitetail hard in the Northwoods this year. I am going to go after black bear with 7Mag also. We are handloading alot for practice for all of our hunting rifles. Even have a 243 for younger/smaller folk in family. Keep up the good vids.

Your under loading the IMR 4064 168 MK @ 44.5

It is a mild load, but I did not want to start too warm. Varying case capacity between brands is an important item to be aware of.

WW Brass Fed 210 M primer 165 GK same 44.5 IMR 4064 180 Flat Base Hornady SP 44.0 308 Win Win brass has best capacity of them all Excellent choice

Very great and outstanding video friend. Some load fr the Win 748 did require 250 Magnum Primers and some required 200 Large Rifle Primers depending on load dsta.

Yeah, some load data uses a standard and some use a magnum primer. Speer load data uses a magnum primers for Ball/ spherical powders. Hey, thanks for watching!

What kind of results were you seeing with #200 primers?

@@sboy1955 for me brother i got good results i would have to go back and look at my load data. It was published and my own. It was tweaked a little using Hornady and Lyman data. I will get back with you brother. I know i git less than 1 1/2 yo less than 1MOa at 50-75 yards. I ran out of srea to shoot lol

@@sboy1955 the only difference with the large rifle and other brands was really in my opinion burn rate and cases were noticeably dirty but on most loads i couldn't tell a difference.

If I can ever find lg rifle magnum primers, I’m good to go with my Win 748 for 308. I have plenty of CCI 200 primers but no magnum. Thanx.

Even though I used magnum primers for W748, I see plenty of load data that does not as in Hornady and Hodgdon manuals. If that was all I had, I would try non-magnum primers and see how it works. Hey, thanks for watching!

@@30-06john - I will look through those manuals, my good buddy has them. My Speer manual provides loads with magnum primers.

Winchester load data from Winchester suggest the WLR primer in the 308 Win with 748/760

@@trumpie5399- I’ve since worked up a nice load with 748 and regular large rifle primers. Running about 2800 fps. I found the biggest MOA improvement came from tweaking the COAL.

What happened to the case trimming step and the chamfering of the case mouth, inside and out? It's a very important step and needs to be done, or you WILL get unsafe pressure spikes! BE CAREFUL!

Yes, I did forget to mention to check case length. I do not trim after every resizing, usually every 3-4 firing and resizing. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I think my chronograph was acting up that day! My load with W748 was very low compared to when a chronographed the same load several months before. Thatnks for watching!
