been contemplating an 880 for big wood, they're being discontinued in Aus next year due to emissions, so I'm pulling the trigger on one. lower RPM but higher torque, good for slabbing too apparently, I hate running side to side felling a tree, always feels sketchy, so, being able to do a single back cut on a big wood is why I'm picking up an 880

No valid comparison unless all saws have same length of bar and same gauge of chain.

I've run a 661 for 3 years now, absolute best, very well balanced with 32 inch bar, no vibration, and power to weigh ratio is spot on, I can't image why someone would need 880, unless you're milling or logging in Canada...?

i use both in west Aus. 880 is the milling saw and 661 is the do everything jack of all trades saw. i had all three but got rid of the 461... should never have done that

You didn't file the RSLF before using it? I have heard they are not very good out of the box... seemed to cut ok, but I bet once you file it, it'll scream! What's the wood you're cutting? Doesn't look real soft. I think you're correct on the 461, it doesn't seem to be pulling itself into the wood, drop the depth gauges some... ;) Nice saw collection! Get the gullet! Yeah baby! Looks like you're having nice weather, must be nice! Nice video! Take care!

no i didnt file it before, just filed out the gullet! the 404 RSLF cut better out of the box than the 3/8's RSLF. The tree is pine. not quite sure what king of pine though. it is a softwood. tree has been dead for about a year now. yeah we have pretty good weather here on the central coast of california. Thanks for the comment!

Kyler Monares Ah... I've never ran a 404... interesting. I bet once you file it, it'll improve. Interesting that it is pine, seems like all the saws would rip through it. Hmmm... Enjoy your wonderful weather! Take care!

Good Day Farm maybe it has hardened up since it's been dead for a while now. Plus the Fire that went through dried it out some as well. I haven't cut any living pines so this is the softest stuff I have cut so far

Do you hand file or grind your chains? Those cut really good.

I belive that with proper handling both saws would perform flawlessly I also think that the 880 is New might need to be tunedthanks4 reply

Awesome videos, What size bars would you recommend for the 461 if that was going to be your primary big saw? Also if you were to have just 2 saws for ground work no climbing which would they be? I was thinking 261c/m and 461? School me! Thx Man
@relyk90
@relyk90 7 жыл бұрын
Don MacLellan thanks! If the 461 was my primary I would keep a 32 and a 25. I prefer the 28" on the 461 however. If I could only keep two ground saws that's a really tough choice Either keep a 50cc class and a 70cc class Or a 60cc and a 90cc. For me I would probably 50/70 261 and 461(77cc's) I have a 362 now and it's an awsome saw as well in my opinion.... makes a 362/661 combo real attractive....

Thx I was thinking the same about the 261/461... I saw that you have the es light bars on pretty much everything... I am trying to find the 20 inch es light bar but I think it doesn't come in .50 gauge? Where did you get yours? Thank you
@relyk90
@relyk90 7 жыл бұрын
Yes they come in 50 gauge. 3003 000 2221 is the part number. Any Stihl dealer can order them Some dealers don't stock 50 gauge bars and chains. Other only stock 50 gauge. It all depends.

use two hands because you have more control if kickback happens plus your hand will activate the chainbrake

The 880 need a 441 coil and a muff mod, to Beat the 661
@relyk90
@relyk90 7 жыл бұрын
Peter Funk I'm planning on muffler modding soon. The 441 coil is unlimited correct?
@peterfunk42
@peterfunk42 7 жыл бұрын
Kyler Monares not unlimited but limitied at 13500, this is more than enough About 11500-12000 is a good rpm for the 880
@relyk90
@relyk90 7 жыл бұрын
Peter Funk thanks, I'll order a 441 coil and I'll probably buy another muffler and mod it rather then modifying the one that's on it. Do you think just enlarging the one port will be enough or should I dual port it? I'm in the process of dual porting the 661
@peterfunk42
@peterfunk42 7 жыл бұрын
Kyler Monares Singel Port or dual Port...in my opinion it does not matter, Size of the opening is crucial. 80% of the cylinder outlet is a good number for the exhaust outlet
@relyk90
