These are archbishops, even among hardcore combatants, very few can take them on solo. Regulus, for example: - just stood there in front of the approaching carriages, and low and behold, Carriages got crushed one after another and there is not a speck of dust on Regulus's garment. Reminds me a particular volume of Overlord L. N where a demon, surrounded by a fiery aura just walks through a battlefield filled with soldiers and at a certain proximity every soldier near the vicinity catches on fire. All from just walking with an aura.

The reason is because the character of regulus was changed a lot and became nothing like his first web novel appearance , where he appeared to be more ... sane and un-contradictory. The canon version is this one, however Lye Batentaikos would have won regardless , the 3 gluttonies are overall weaker than the other sin arcbishops but still much stronger than Rem.

If you want to know how Lye erased memory from Rem : Lye can eat the name and memories of their opponent. To eat a name, he touches them with his left hand, then licks the palm of the same hand. Things such as experience, talent, and the likes and dislikes of human relationships serve as food for him, allowing him to take advantage of any abilities or memories his opponents had.(he cannot eat Authorities and Sword Saint abilities) However, if he eats a fake name, he becomes plagued with severe nausea.

Her character flaw of constant self-sacrifice and defining her own worth through other people (Ram & then Subaru, though she got better) will probably be addressed after she wakes up. As a LN reader I was pretty disappointed with this scence and the scene when subaru found her...here they removed Rem'm monologue that was honestly really beautiful . And the scene where subaru found her was alot more touching...there he didn't care about Emilia or beetleguice or anything he saw her laying on the floor and he immediately staaped himself through the heart...the scene was so strong I honestly think he forgot about return by death and was that depressed she died again

Interesting fact. The whole Rem attempt to fight them is non-canon. In LN in exact moment she fired crystals and jumped - she got instantly hit, implied as her being instantly touched by Gluttony. Its made mostly for dramaturgy. The problem is that Regulus's attack in this fragment is controversing with canonical principle of his ability. If his attack here worked canonically - Rem would miss part of her body.

Yes. It's using scenes from the "if" story in the novels where that exact thing happened. But in this case, it's got a double purpose because it reflects a non-spoken paragraph in the novel where, in her last moments, Rem has a vision of a future with Subaru.

SPOILER: Rem has finally woken up in the chapter 90 of arc 6 in the web novel. This is the last of the arc 6. Sadly, Rem has no memories and the effects of Gluttony are disappearing, but we don't know how is going to work. Tappei said that we have to wait after the releasing of volume 25 in the light novel to see the beginning of arc 7.

The conditions that made her disconnect from the world were that both her memories AND the memories of everyone about her were eaten. That's why Crusch was still awake, only her memories were eaten. The *REAL* saddest thing about this fight is that the studio really had the audacity to the scene from one of Re:Zero IF’s storylines. For only a few frames when Gluttony “eats” Rem, we see images of Subaru and Rem’s life if they ran away together and the happy family they would have.

Fun fact: This fight scene didn't actually exist in the novel. We ate Rem indeed, but to call it a "fight" would be overly generous. She was defeated by us before she had time to react to our initial attack at all. Her efforts were admirable, but she simply wasnt good enough to even respond to our initial attack. We are superhumanly quick, as we demonstrated shortly before this by partaking in a magnificent feast of fully armed knights and filling our stomach with their delicious names and memories silently, quickly, and easily. The strength gap between us and her is almost comically large: We despite our youth, are the most martially adept of all of the sin archbishops and have hundreds of years worth of tons of delicious memory meals, while Rem has about 7 years of teaching herself during the time she could find when she wasn't doing 80% of the work at Roswall's mansion alone. Even at full strength that girl couldn't have taken us on, though I do admire her passion. Minor spoiler also: It's also against what little morals we have to devour an opponent finished off by an ally. Why would we eat if we can't earn our meal? We deserve to starve if we can't hunt for ourself. To put short; Rem is weak. We are strong. Rem is slow. We are fast. Rem is a novice. We are a master. Gluttonous Drinking! Gluttony! ~Tsu!
