It's supposedly a prequel, but then it's also basically a remake of the first one? I don't understand what they were going for. And yeah, the town being creepy just feels like they needed some other horror tropes to add to the movie. The town being creepy almost detracts from what the Strangers is supposed to be about, which is a random act of violence
@hsmorg36403 ай бұрын
@@Tentoir Exactly, it completely distracts from the main point.. being secluded in a home that has basically been turned into a cage for you to be tortured in.. they even have the boyfriend go into town for food, so it doesn't feel far at all.. I loved the difference of making the couple actually be into each other.. The town should've just been a normal town, could've even been a super friendly town.. It could've been a remake or sequel, they stop at a diner on their way across the state, and meet an old lady who offers her AirBnB, after talking about the sites nearby, and the couple wanna stay a little longer to check them out.. the AirBnB could be an old lakeside cabin even just 15mi into the forest, out of town.. part of a neighborhood of lakeside expensive summer properties that are just unoccupied, because it's winter, (or really close to winter, we don't even need snow to be a hindrance in this story)(.. although, creepy footsteps leading to the house, but not away, would be a cool detail for the couple to notice).. Then the events of the attack happen, and the old lady drives over to give them breakfast in the morning, and discovers them.. and if we want to make a trilogy with the girlfriend, an easy quick couple flashes of the lady rushing her to the hospital is all we need

Instead we are getting a series that doesn’t even focus on Jason, which is not what people seem to want. Certain movies and series work really well being film franchise, but they are remaking and giving sequels to stuff that shouldn’t be touched. I feel like remakes were bigger in the 2000s and sequels have been a staple in horror since the 80s. Remakes definitely come in waves, and we had a break for a few years.

I beleive right now there are only 2 original ideas in cinemas one of which is affra/id and that one suuuuucks (imagine m3gan but not funny). Hell twisters was just the exact same movie but gender swapped, even the scenery felt 90s with a single 2 minute scene making a reboot worthwhile

They’re trying to remake The Crow. The ONE movie that as far as I’m concerned should’ve been off limits in terms of remaking.

In my opinion I think they turning these horror and popular movies into series because the success of Chucky that's going on right now. I also think The Craft: Legacy is more of a sequel/remake(Requel).... Director Renny Harlin had stated in an interview saying The Strangers: Chapter 1 is a standalone remake that will follow a similar premise to the the first film while the following two films has a different narrative that continue the story with the same actress. I learned to separate the Mean Girls remake from the original since the new one is based on a Broadway production.😂 lol.

But no, the difference when we talk about Saw and Final Destination franchises is that with these there has always been a sh1tton of movies. And it WORKS in these cases. But when a certain movie exists alone FOR YEARS and then all of a sudden there is a new one like why? Just leave it alone.

I was so mad when I saw the grudge. There was another movie we could’ve watched but I was stupid and convinced 5 other people to watch the grudge. Everyone but me fell asleep and I just had my face in my hands. I felt so bad.

I disagree with the Harry Potter series. As much as I love the original movies, literally grew up with them, there is A LOT they had to leave out and leaving that out made them have to alter characters and plot points or even make stuff up to cover what they had to skip to fit the films. I am very excited to see an extended and ,hopefully, more true version of the HP books put on screen.

I've always thought it'd be a great idea to remake old films that weren't very good but had a really cool concept.

Wait wait wait COHERENCE IS GETTING A SEQUEL?!? that became my favorite movie ans I've shown it to like 7 new people. I'm hating the remake trend but I'm kinda stoked for that 😅

I was honestly shocked by how much I didn't like the 2020 Grudge. It had nothing??? Like it was an Anthology almost, but terrible lol

I think a lot of studios are struggling with their money makers (Marvel/DC) so they are banking on remakes (nostalgia) to bring in money. It's lazy

you HAVE to play Silent Hill 2 before the movie comes out. It's a great game and a remake of the game itself is coming out if you don't wanna play the original (which, imo you definitely should because it's still a masterpiece and a pioneer in the psychological horror genre) Plus, I would love it if you made a video of yourself playing the game. I think a lot of people would watch it!

I'm so frustrated about the harry potter series, it's totally unnecessary. let people miss and be nostalgic with the original material , the actors and the fans are in our 30`s it's just so recent really. And I hate to give any kind of money or attention to that woman

This is why I loved the "Five Nights at Freddie's" movie, it may be cheesy, but the build up was great and the story was amazing and I actually felt like I was "hugged" for the first time watching a scary movie if that makes any sense. All these remakes, reboots, rehashes whatever you wanna call them, feels like I'm being slapped in the face over and over again.
