it is SO interesting to see what other artists consider their “ugly art” ! when i look at your doodles i almost take it personally that you dislike them bc i see them as incredible! just a reminder for me that every artist is their own worst critic and it’s not embarrassing to show off things you make that are “bad”
@justinsmith58704 ай бұрын
A lot of the time it's not "ugly" it's just not the goal that was in mind. Which as the artist is hard to remember, especially when you know where all the mistakes are. (Edit-hopefully this reads as agreeing and not correcting.)
@yorutsumetaiАй бұрын
She’s not insulting herself or her art though. She’s just saying in a blunt way that it’s imperfect art and that referring to it that way actually helps her out, which I understand what she means. When you treat your sketchbook too preciously you can get into a horrible mindset that actually breaks down your consistency and confidence. So her calling it ugly is her way of un-preci-fying it to actually enjoy herself and practice in it.

Thank you so so much for making this video!!! I've been drawing for fun for the past decade. Recently tho, I started to try and take it a lil more seriously by doing art studies and, god forbid, drawing cubes. All of this was spurred on by finding a perfect song that I felt went with the story of the Dark Urge (aka Durge) in Baldur's Gate 3. I've been wanting to make an animatic for it soooo much, but didn't know where to start exactly. So the idea of having a sketchbook dedicated to mainly working on it is genius! So thank you for the incredible inspiration, and I can't wait to see more of this animation later! Good luck, June! 💖 Also side note! As someone who's also a huge perfectionist, I promise that the footage from your phone still looked great! And the time lapse on the "shaky table" looked fantastic. I honestly didn't think it was shaky, even after you said so, lol.
