I just purchased a used KTM 2008 690. Man Bro this video is one of the best tutorials on the web for mapping. Links and all. Hats off to you for sharing!!!

If it's flaming out you may want to check the apad and Thad TPS sensor values first. If you're not adding more air then you shouldn't need to add more fuel.
@RideyBikes4 жыл бұрын
Hey, yeah i did check the Thad TPS. Was all fine. The issue was minute and only really flamed out occasionally when I aggressively blipped the throttle from idle or sometimes when i was doing technical stufff. After much trial and error and serious amounts of reading it was the throttle position map that I edited and that made the real difference. Again, i'm hugely appreciative of the amazing community of riders that shared their findings across all the years and many forums. Thanks for watching.

Good morning, and thank you for making this video, it is the best out there on the topic. I have a 2010 DUke 690 and I have read the pages in your links and downloaded the maps from BOX (at least the 08 ones). I do not understand how to know which map is meant for which mods. I think the map set with 32 at the end is the EVO 1 map referred to in the pages but I do not know what the rest of them do. Can you help me out?

Hey, the tune ecu site went through a period where there was no break down of all the maps but that is back up and running. The following link should answer your questions. Cheers tuneecu.net/AustrianBikeMapList.html

@RideyBikes4 жыл бұрын
My maps are based on the maps by Vilku on the SMJ thread i've linked in the description. Oddly, when I first bought the bike it had the map for an 09 duke. The only discernible difference I could find was a little extra fuel in the mid to top end. Was proper jokes but OMG the deceleration popping was fierce with big fireballs!

Really cool. Do you use XP for the drivers, compatibility etc or will it run in Win 10? 👍
@RideyBikes3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure. I use XP because that is what is on our old pc laptop. I had windows 10 running on boot camp on my Mac and it did recognise the bike when I plugged it in. I guess that means it does work on windows 10?? I stuck with the pc running XP just to be on the safe side.

@@RideyBikes Cheers. Yes it's good to keep an old OS going just in case. I used OBD2 on my 790Adv but only as an experiment. Now I have the 690 I think I'll investigate in a bit more detail. I used Bluetooth dongle with that, but the cable looks the way to go for remapping etc. Great info, really appreciated 👍

@@RideyBikes Not in the detail you show. It would have done error codes and things I think. But, to be honest, I was a bit wary of messing with it without any information. I was using my phone and an iPad, I'd much prefer the laptop link. I'll invest in the cable I think. It's always much easier when you've seen someone else do it - ha ha!

I’m keen to connect to my mates 790 and see if it’s possible to unlock some of the expensive features. Let me know how you get on with the cable. You’ll be a hero if you can unlock the features on the 790.

Sorry I missed this... The program/map was working great! I've rebuilt the engine since and done a big bore which required completely custom maps. I calculated them using data from PCV then converted that data into tables for TuneECU. Works great!👍🏽

Hi, my bike 690 duke 2012, do i use the maps in the folder «690 smc & enduro» or do i use the ones in the «690 duke» folder? Those maps supports dukes up to 2011 apparently and mine is a 2012
@RideyBikes4 жыл бұрын
I think... the 2011 duke has different engine (1 spark plug)??... 2012 Has two spark plugs... My 2009 690 enduro had the 2009 duke Fi map. Was super fun but it ran REALLY hot, spat massive deceleration fire balls. The spark plug died soon after purchasing the bike leaving me stranded. (Excessively hot spark plug + huge deluge of rain = thermal shock in plug)... What do you want to achieve? I did compare the duke map to the enduro map. The duke map has more fuel up top. So hypothetically speaking using the ‘12 enduro or smc map would work but would give a little less power full tilt. Are you switching exhaust??

C.A.O , I had a 2012 duke 4models , which has CAN BUS communication. Tuneecu does not work with it. Now I have a2011 duke 3 model which has serial communication , that is working with tune ecu

hello can you tell me if i flash the ecu in my bike in position 4 (for example) the map i dowload to the bike will be in button position 4? or it will overwrite all the existing stock maps on the bike....in wich position on the map selector should i use it
@RideyBikes2 жыл бұрын
Position of map switch has no effect on the map you put on the bike. Position 4 is Standard mapping. If you want to edit the throttle response for Standard then edit 'standard' in the EP map. If you want to edit the fuelling for standard then edit 'standard' in the FI map. I highly highly recommend reading the the TuneECU thread on Advrider.com up to at least page 60. Takes a few hours but it's incredibly enlightening and will help you avoid making some possibly very serious mistakes. www.advrider.com/f/threads/ktm-690-e-tuneecu.685657/ 👍🏽

Hi, so I can edit the soft mode with limited map and the advanced mode with full power?
@RideyBikes2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can... My maps at the point of filming this video (stock-ish engine) were.. soft (soft up 75% power), standard (soft up to 100%) and Advanced (1:1 from 10% throttle upwards). It all depends on what you use the bike for and what kind of behaviour you like. You can make the soft as aggressive as the Advanced map or also you can use the map slots for different setups like Standard for warm weather and performance for really cold climates. If you haven't already I highly recommend reading the AdvRider TuneEcu Thread at least as far as page 65. Your understanding of what is possible will be quite comprehensive after getting through that. Cheers 👍🏽

will the 2014 duke R 690 map work with the 2011 map?
@RideyBikes3 жыл бұрын
Do you mean will the 14’ map work in the 11’ bike or the other way around? If I’m not mistaken the 2011 bikes are the 654cc single spark engine and the 2014 are 690cc twin spark. There’s lots of talk in the forums about how to get maps or remap the later models... I’m about to do a series of videos about rebuilding the bike with serious engine upgrades that’ll require both a tuneECU fuel injection and throttle remap AND a PowerCommader5 with Autotune remap AND (eventually) some fine tuning on a Dyno. When planning this next project I did investigate using a 2014 twin spark setup but the difficulties of remapping that engine without getting a dealer involved and using a dyno were the prohibitive factors. Basically the twin spark onwards are (depending on what you’re trying to achieve) harder to tune at home.

@@RideyBikes is a 2014 duke with a 2011 map. Because recently I wanna do some upgrade but getting a pcv seem pretty expensive. But I couldn’t find a tuned map for 2014
@RideyBikes3 жыл бұрын
@@simonngsze To be honest, as far as I know, unless you are making major changes to the engine like a rebore or rally camshaft and need to change ignition timing... PCV I think would be the least headache for you. PCV can deal with exhaust and airbox changes especially with the addition of Dynojet Wideband 2 sensor or Dynojet Autotune.

Probably better to avoid using a USB extension cord.
@RideyBikes Жыл бұрын
After an unreal amount of remapping, I’ve found the best trick for immediate and reliable connection is nothing to do with using the extension cord. Turning on the ignition key (or deactivating the kill switch) just as TuneEcu main screen loads after opening the program, it pretty much guarantees a good solid reliable connection. 👍🏽
