I am now 97 years old and still consider "Maytime" the most beautiful and breathtaking film of all time. I have watched it more times than any other movie ever made. When I get to the great beyond, may they (Nelson and Jeanette) be there to greet me.

I think that's the sweetest thing I've ever read about Mac and Eddy, Esther. And my mom may be standing right next to them!

Thank you for posting. What a pity that the age of romance has gone. The writer must have had knowledge of the after life, because the spirit of Nelson Eddy came to greet Jeannette MacDonald when she passed over.

Bravo Baz, excellent work, gorgeous production and Di, what can I say, your coloring is beyond beautiful, it is exquisite. You are a true artist. What a wonderful tribute to a classic film.

Thanks Angela! This is the second version as Warner Audio blocked the first one due to a copyright issue. Part of the vocal soundtrack has been replaced by the orchestral segment. Shame, because the original was much better. I will be making available the original video to anyone interested. BAZ

I first saw Maytime and their other movies in the nid 1950's on WGN TV in Chicago. Love them and this app and hope someone can tell me the translation of their final duet in Maytime. Many thanks from a 70+ lifelong fan.

So wonderful. I'm interested to know: when you colour do you have an example of what colours were used originally or do you use your imagination. Either way, it is quite lovely. I love Jeanette and Nelson. They were the epitome of grace and elegance and their music lives on forever.

Where the original film was made in black & white, artistic licence is introduced unless there is other reference material to refer to, such as colour images in advertising material, books or lobby cards.

I watched this movie first time after the Second World war when I lived in the Soviet Union and was a small boy. It was marked as a tropfy taken by the Red Army in Germany. I watched it in a small second category cinema and without mentioning of the film creators, only the name of the film in Russian Майские дни. Then I was upset that the villain was a Russian Mr. Nazaroff. Only many days later I realized that I watched J. MacDocDonald and N. Eddy, who were completely unknown in the Soviet Union.
