I was 18 in 2006 and just started dating my first girlfriend. I had never had sex before I dated her, and wasn't very good at it when we started. We always played music while we "fooled around", so her parents wouldn't hear us. One night, we started getting frisky, and Cutsman by Horse the Band came on. She rode me like a wildebeest during the breakdown, and at the end of the song she thought I was a stud. I will always remember that awesome song, and that awesome moment.

I was actually glad to hear someone bring up Nintendocore; that instantly brought HORSE the band! to mind. There were a lot of great deathcore bands that actually utilized 8-bit synths in the early-to-mid 2000's that I thought would've been mentioned here. A lot of them took what HTB did and expanded further, unlike acts that literally covered Nintendo themes. With that said, knowing that you're a heavy music fan, are you going to tread into any episodes on other forms of metal sub-genres, older and current?
@thisexists10 жыл бұрын

Two words: OC Remix. That website is dedicated to video game music. Most of the remixes tend to fall in the techno or electronica blend, but a fair amount of metal and surprisingly jazz renditions can be found there. I've found sooo much music that even if I wasn't familiar with the game, the new ideas people have for these songs are incredible (I was listening to a blue grass version of Xenogears earlier).

I think it would be really cool if you talked about nerdcore, since you do a lot of videos about music. I don't know how familiar you are with this genre of music; it's very similar to nintendocore, but with rap instead of metal. Some suggestions of artists I have would be Dr. Awkward, Megaran, MC Frontalot, MC Chris, Adam Warrock, Tribe One, Beefy, MC Lars, and tons more. Their music involves not only video games, but comics and classical literature as well. I just think it would be amazing to introduce more people to this underrated genre.

One of my old bands opened for Horse the Band long, long ago when they were touring for their first album. I was the only one in town who was familiar with the band because i was the type to hang out on albino black sheep and watch flash cartoons so i jumped at the chance to play with this band no one knew about! They played an amazing show and were nice and funny guys, i hung out with the bass player from that era and he had me laughing my ass off saying his ideal death was fighting off a sea of 4th graders. Back then, they were just getting their barrings, but they went on to get extremely good and their last few albums were excellent and proved they were more than some kind of "nintendocore" gimmick. Highly recommend "A Natural Death" or "Desperate Living" albums.
@TerminallyNerdy7 жыл бұрын
As far as Nintendocore or VG Metal, yea I still listen to a few, and have met a few. I know the NESkimos (personally weirdly enough), Random Encounter, and have hung out with Metroid Metal, Armcannon, Danimal Cannon, the Returners, the Gekkos, Under Polaris and a few others at the old Nerdapalooza festival before it went down. I also worked with Careless Juja as a video guy for one of their few lives shows. I still listen to the stuff as well. I love the blend of my two favorite musical styles: Video Game Music, and Metal. And every time I turn around more and more of these sort of bands pop up.

I wouldnt say that neskimos or advantage nor minibosses are nintendocore because Its just straight up covers. Horse were a punk hardcore metal band with nintendo keyboards that wrote original songs. I found out about horse the band on the neskimos forum in like 2003 maybe 2004 and to this day i still listen to them and to the bands from myspace that were similar (flee the century and totally radd being the best two examples) the cover bands were a dime a dozen, usually having a gimmick to increase the friendcount but with youtube taking off the way it did for one man band covers its become rather exhausting keeping up with great video game covers. Not like the old days where dwelling of duels was your monthly jam tape. Anyway i have spiraled off track. The advantage rock but are not what was truly considered nintendo core which is a stupid term jokingly thrown from tongue by htb

Horse The Band is one of my favorites and I still listen to their record (the one pictured) at least once every two months, they rock and are "The most dangerous band in the world" Set up a gig for them, provide expenses and they will show up! For me nintendocore is not nostalgia, it's alive and kicking and I want more!!!

I love the One-Ups! And you shouldn't forget to remember the website "Overclock remix." You'll love that, especially Zelda music by Blind. Cool stuff!

Powerglove just makes metal covers. However Dragonforce use 8-bit sounds in some of their songs like extraction zone.

I remember some epic rock songs from minibosses. I knew once you brought up Castlevania, minibosses was going to be referenced.

For the record, I would totally invite you to my birthday party, you seem like a really cool dude. On the topic of mildly interesting bit pop anamanaguchi is responsible for the soundtrack to the Scott Pilgrim game, excellent beat em up btw. I feel another noteworthy band in the bit pop genre would also probably be I fight dragons, while they don't do covers as much I still feel they're noteworthy and they came to mind when mentioning the chip tune style. For the book segment maybe something that sorta connects to the channel like "this exists in print" or something like that?
