Remembering Chris O'Brien AO, 3 Jan 1952 - 4 Jun 2009

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the passing of Professor Chris O'Brien AO, our founder and an enduring inspiration. Professor O'Brien's vision of a comprehensive and integrated cancer hospital, characterised by clinical excellence, research, innovation, teaching, training, and leadership, became our guiding principle. His lived experience as a cancer patient inspires our resolve to provide care with compassion and hope. It galvanizes our commitment to a model of patient-centred care designed to meet the patient’s complete needs. His legacy continues to guide and motivate us every day. We honour his memory and commitment to making a difference in the lives of countless patients and their families.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Chris's family, and in particular, Gail, who has been a driving force behind our mission. Gail's ongoing work as a board member and patient advocate is invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for her dedication and support.
