More then half my childhood TV viewing experience was created by Norman Lear. His shows were a huge influence on me when I was young and really taught me a lot about the world. We won't see that kind of genius and genuine goodness like him again in this lifetime, I think. RIP Mr. Lear, rest easy good sir.

Sorry no they weren't. All in the Family and Sanford and son were based on British shows till death do us part and Steptoe and son. He most certainly did not create those shows he just did an American version of them.

@grandadneal8114 Wow butt hurt much! I don't know if he made those shows based on the British version or not, but for those of us who are North American, those shows he created were new and original to us, and for many like myself they in part shaped how I understand and relate to the world. So for that, he will always be remembered.

You for sure will never see another one like him. If you tried to produce All in the Family today you'd be cancelled after the first episode ran. The guy touched on topics that no one would touch with a ten foot pole and put them in the mainstream with no fear of losing sponsors or advertisers.

Noman Lear made us laugh. We laughed at each other, no matter race, creed, class, etc., and most importantly, he made us laugh at ourselves. In the humor, we realize that we're all just human, and struggling in our own ways, and in need of salvation, even if he didn't know his messages did that, but he probably did. May he receive God's infinite mercy.

@@Mr64Duke I think you missed my point. The media is not your friend, they did not do this for good hearted reasons, they did this to keep dividing us. That's what they do daily. They make sure we KNOW we are Black and white and we are different. They want to make sure the blacks know they are the victims and the whites are the evil ones towards blacks. Our country can't prosper if we are fighting ourselves, those in Washington can't control us if we are fighting and not watching them steal our tax money. Our roads, bridges, train systems, buildings, houses are all falling apart and we are broke. Why do we have billions to send to Ukraine but our citizens are homeless? Because they keep us divided and poor so they can stay rich
