We love our military men and women. I love stopping at military checkpoints just to chat with them and show gratitude for their sacrifice. The APC government destroyed out military. This they did by using Nigeria military to compensate insurgents in the name of repentant Boko Haram. Also our galant soldiers became tools to fight political opponents. They sent to Orlu to kill civilians and vigilant ESN. I could not believe that this a group we were so proud of, that anytime we see that uniform, I personally want to beg them to take something I will pay for. Unbelievable!!!!

This is the article I dropped on the 16th straight from my heart. Our Heroes!! Yesterday the nation's armed forces celebrated the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, in commemoration of those who have paid the ultimate price. They sacrificed their today for our tomorrow! Most of them who had that chance to gasp for their last breath before transition are grasped by fear. Why? At that moment flashes of the reality of the country is all they see, and correlating this to what will become of their wives and children when they die invokes extreme fear in them. Every January 15th, our government remembers these HEROES, organizes a remembrance parade for them. The great question is, WHAT ABOUT THEIR FAMILIES? If you know how the families of these our so called heroes live and survive, even if you have a heart of stone, tears will drop off your eyes. What is stopping the government from providing their wards at least two from each family with scholarships to university level? What is stopping the government from paying stipends to these families? They will gather every January 15th with prayers from the Nigerian military chaplain services being offered, laying of wreath and climaxed with a 21 gun salute. Na wetin their families go eat be that? No wonder, even when the President released the white pigeons yesterday at eagles square, they refused to fly off. They also knew about the ill-treatment these families are suffering. Our government should make military service enticing enough. An average US Army soldier knows that if he/she dies during the course of his/her service to the nation, his/her families won't be abandoned. So he/she is even ready to sacrifice his/her being for the nation. Please government do some restructures in the living standard of a soldier. It is very appalling to see that a soldier whom had served for five years can not even boast a car for himself or herself. How did we get here? A Nigerian Soldier's salary in the 60s, 70s and even around 1980s too, can feed his family and extended family until another salary is paid. What a soldier obtains as salary today is a mere stipend. We are supposed to be progressing and not retrogressing. We need advocates to speak for us. The inequalities experienced in the military needs to STOP. If I get recruited as a soldier I know I have signed to sacrifice my life in service of my country, but the little time I have to live should be worth the while. WE NEED A RADICAL CHANGE! May the souls of our fallen Heroes rest in Peace.
