I’ve had my grandfathers 1100 sitting in my closet for years. I broke the charging handle somehow and never needed it so I just let it collect dust. I’ve recently became a novice gun enthusiast. Now I’ve got it fully disassembled. Can’t wait to polish and oil this old beauty and return her to her former glory. Thank you for the video!

my 1100 lasted me from 17 yo to 55 years old. done me through the trap, skeet sporting clays, dove hunting, quail, grouse, pheasant, duck, geese...never changed the o ring once, and now not a difference.-- it still keeps on doing the do. there isn't a better shotgun than the Remington 1100.

I'm hoping I finally managed to fix this blasted thing. My father's 1100, every single time it fired it kicked like a mule and released a massive concussive blast out the ejection port. I changed the O-ring and recoil spring, the latter of which required a proprietary socket to remove the stock, and the gun had to be put in a vise. That's one thing the cheap clones do a lot better: they move the recoil spring to the magazine tube, which is where it should have been in the first place.

I have watched numerous videos on the 1100. My operating handle does not just pull out i have even tried pliers? Any idea?

It may be seized. Try a penetrating lube agent. If that doesn't work, I would suggest trying a heat gun. Do not overheat any metal parts!!! You are only trying to warm the handle slightly. I'm talking like hardly even "truck tailgate hot". This works best on a cool day or in a basement with a 20 degree Fahrenheit difference. Wiggle the handle. Let it cool. Spray some lube. Wiggle the handle. Wipe away all the excess gunk. Repeat this process. It should come out. I've had one that was an ornament in a bar... It was filled with decades of tar. It took 4 hours... It finally came free after multiple filthy rags.

Wrap Paracord around the bottom of the bolt handle tightly and then pull out.

Had to spray mine with CLP break free and it came right out

I was confused about this also. Sprayed mine with some lube and wiggled it hard. It does in deed pull straight out. No trick to it.

I just disassembled and cleaned my 11-87 and noticed afterward that the action bar assembly has some play and can rattle when the bolt is locked open and I move the gun about. Everything seems fine otherwise. Is this normal?

Upon removing the magazine cap, the spring shot out. Was there a piece missing? Remington 1100.

That is most likely a Remington 870 pump action shotgun.

What if the carrier release won't move?

Hey there guy, I bought this (rem 11-87) today used, and had the same problem, I took my trigger out, the carrier, etc, and once you do that, above the carrier where the trigger strikes is a silver piece, you pull that up and back toward the rear of that assembly, and it will release it and allow it to become mobile again. If those instructions are confusing, let me know and ill post a video to help you so you can get your gun functioning
