I got a used 700 police heavy 20in barrel put the magpul stock on it and the bolt would hit the mag and stop. Put a small brass washer in and it was fixxed. Taken 3 deer to date still one of my favorite tools. Love this channel and thank you for all you put out.

I just got a CZ 600 Trail in 7.62x39 that came with a single 10 round Bren 2 magazine. As soon as I was able to source replacement magazines I discovered that they didn't all fit the gun. About half of them needed the feed lips dressed down slightly (polymer mags) to fit the gun. I suspect that is why the gun only shipped with a single magazine in the first place. Nice gun otherwise but CZ needs to make an off-side cheekpiece for leftys and hot swaps.

I had a similar issue with my 700 (6.5 Creedmoor) and the Magpul mags. Every so often they would hang up and not want to feed. Switched to MDT hybrid magazines and the problem seems to have gone away.

How to build one on the cheap. First pick up the absolute lowest budget 700 preferably when it's on sale, I think I got mine from Walmart for $380 Stick it in a vice and immediately rip the barrel off and replace the stock with a Magpul Hunter with bottom mag. Pick up a criterion rimage barrel with barrel nut, basically it allows you to rebarrel a Remington the same as a Savage. Pick out whatever new caliber let you want to make it, order a headspace go gauge from Brownells and screw the New barrel inn with the headspace gauge in place until it just touches, and then tighten the barrel nut. Throw on a one piece 20 MOA base from Warren. And a krg boat lift knob for 30 bucks When you're all done you basically spent right around a thousand bucks for a mostly custom gun. The only other thing you would want to do is change out the horrible factory trigger.

I'm assuming you used a bridgeport for this? Did you use the DRO or did you just eyeball it? If you used the DRO I'm curious which surface you called zero, the edge of the magwell maybe? What kind of vice do you use for guns when you're using the mill? Honestly, I'd love a video going into milling guns/gun parts using a bridgeport(style) mill. I'm interested in setups, datum surfaces, what kind of tooling you use, the vice(s) you use for milling, etc. I'm also curious what are the most common issues that require a mill to resolve? I'm an apprentice machinist but I have the intention of working in the gun industry eventually. Most of the work I do is CNC but I do know how to use manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, etc.

You know, it occurs to me you might be the perfect person to ask this question; I think bolt-actions are neat, but every time i consider getting one, I end up asking myself, what's the point of getting a short-action non-magnum bolt gun when the AR10 platform exists? And every once in a while the subject comes up with my friends, and we always end up concluding that if you have the scratch and no real reason to shoot anything bigger than 308win, than you may as well just get an AR10. What's your take on it?
