Rod, just discovered these vids. They’re the perfect way to de stress and relax after a day of commuting on the London Underground and a long day in front of a computer in the studio. Thanks for a very immersive glimpse into a beautiful part of the world. I especially love the cooking, it’s mesmerising and brilliant slow tv! I’m inspired to do the same somewhere closer to home although now I want to visit Fraser Island and Australia! Best wishes from London. Tony

Boat seems to be running great in the windy conditions. Even with a bit of chop cuts nicely. I used to use a large piece of rubber matting on my RIB which I draped over my right pontoon. I used to land fish over that mat to avoid hooks and teeth going in.... works well. Drape it down to water level when landing a fish and then flip it onto the boat when driving. I also had a piece on the floor that helped me land fish that I wanted to take home. It was quite thick... about 1/2 cm thick.... think I got it from Clark rubber. Glue some D rings on pontoon as attachment points eyelets in rubber mat and stainless snap hooks to attach mat to D rings. Quick on and off and doubles as camp mat as well.

There's no place like Fraser. You should definitely get yourself out on the surf side of the island. That little inflatable would handle getting out through the waves a treat. I've always had a yearning for sauntering up through all the gutters on Breaksea Spit too. That would be a rad adventure.

Hemp is the most saltwater resistant natural fibre, buy a metre of 16oz hemp canvas, glue round the edges to stop it fraying. Mix 20 parts white spirit with 1 part silicone RTV and paint the canvas with the mix, the canvas will become ultra hydrophobic.
