It's a great looking design. I say don't weather him as he is part of the crew on a luxury liner. He should be pristine. They should offer the head in different colors in the Droid Depot. This way it is still a special exclusive from the Starcruiser but Disney can also get their money's worth from the additional design and also I think the park goers would love a new option.

If your blue R2 head is going that slow, that’s an electronics issue if you’ve already changed the batteries. I worked at droid depot so I’d suggest calling customer service if you still can!

I'd imagine they didn't add the touchpoint symbol to the droid because it would be misleading since they probably wouldn't want to go through the effort in adding a special feature just for this droid specifically to interact with the wristband and making the personality chip port inaccessible as a result. Still would've been nice if they added the chandrila logo as a substitution, It would've worked since the droid works for the star line. Hey, if custom stickers are your thing, you can add anything you want there. It still sucks you have to go on the cruise to snag one though, I'd buy one to get shipped home in a heartbeat. Its head is just so unique looking.

I love that they’re putting more droids out. Hope they don’t stop creating new droids and mercy for them. I’ll be buying/making my first at Galaxy’s Edge this May. I hate that all my Sphero droid are now without support!!!! Bought my first one of those on a Disney Cruise. Is it wrong to expect my droids to last for generations like in the movies?!?! ;)

I'm a tad disappointed that the panel covering where the personality chip goes doesn't include that M Band symbol on it. Other than that, it seems perfect.

It's a shame Disney doesn't put a light for the switch on position. I've modified all my controllers with a simple led addition. Love the new SK-620!

I spotted another differance from the action figure, not sure if that was on the orginal one in on the cruiser, but the neck line is white with a little blocks instead of fully black

I actually don’t think it will. I think keeping as exclusive is a smart move on their part. We haven’t seen chopper parts on the conveyor belt yet. I’d bet we see those first.

Even only seeing folks' vids from the Halcyon, I love SK! I've always loved droids, but R units in particular. I only have 2 droids, R2-D2 (thank you shopDisney) and Chopper (thank you, Galaxy's Edge buyers!), but SK seems like a really cool addition to the Star Wars story, much like I considered Captain Rex (RX-24) when the original Star Tours debuted! Yes, Dan-O, I'm that old. 🤣

I have found him for $99 on eBay and I have put him on my "watch list". I even have a back story of how he ended up going from junk traders to jawas after the Halcyon Galactic Starcruiser was decommissioned and how I found him in the back room of a shop in Mos Espa.

there is one big difference on the real one those gold rectangles on the bottom of the dome are actually physical objects that stick out with details on them they are not just paint I think they got cheap on leaving this detail out as it is really one of the distinctive features and yeah not have its own unique sounds is also really cheap on their part

I love the droid! They should have included a special Chandrilla personality chip to enhance its exclusivity though. No worries. I’m sure there’s a clever programmer out there that will produce one presently! 😁😜 Also the missing Chandrilla logo! What gives?? Should have been included. How'd you have your background droind not only talk, but spin on their own, at the start of the vid?

Each droid can receive and emit bluetooth signals. If you have multiple droids turned on nearby each other, they'll detect the signals of the other droids, and that activates an "interaction" timer of about 5 minutes. Every 5 minutes while the droid is detecting other droid signals, it will beep, boop, and spin its head automatically.

How do you get the droids to speak while idle? I have chopper and he just turns off after being idle but I would love to hear him speak from time to time.

If you have more than one droid they speak every 90-120 seconds until you turn one off. But I also use a Bluetooth beacon that mimics the signals found around Galaxy’s edge

No they are exclusive to the land. There was a time in 2020 when shop disney had a couple of the pre built r2d2 and BB 8 droids for sale but they stopped and it was only because the parks were closed.

Disappointed that this droid doesn’t have a unique default personality. Surely it should mirror the full size one in the Starcruiser (which I believe does have somewhat unique sounds). Glad I won’t ever be going there so won’t be tempted to buy.

I reviewed what little footage I got and some footage from friends and I think he just uses the default r2 unit sounds on the full scale version. I don’t think they gave him unique sounds, which is a big missed opportunity

Hey Dan, would anyone at Galaxy's Edge be able to walk into the Chandrila's Gift shop to purchase this droid or would we have to pay that $6000 to experience the Galactic Star Cruiser in order to gain access to the store? Trying to find a way buy that droid without having to pay the obscene ebay scalpers prices.

The giftshop is only available to starcruiser guests. It’s not exactly $6000 like everyone falsely claims. Prices vary by date and amount of people in your room. On the lower end it was $4800/2 people in 1 room. I shared a room with 4 and my share was $1750. But I guess it doesn’t matter that people spread bad info about the price as it’s closing forever and all the dates are sold out. 🙃
