Lots of boulders on your river bank. Do not take out your tree stumps. Idk why someone would suggest that. The roots help keep the soil from washing away even more. Also you'll need a lot more piles put into the ground, not just in the water but on the side of the bank. Erosion is a property killer and I hope you get. it straightened out. Hey, I love your content. You have a beautiful piece of heaven. I live in Florida, and Florida sure isn't Alaska. With that said, we do have shoreline road/beach erosion constantly, especially during hurricane season. The state uses large equipment to haul and place huge limestone rocks to mitigate the erosion. I know that's not possible where your camp is located. A suggestion would be to add some river rock from a sand bar to sure up those logs. My understanding of Alaska's spring runoff can be really bad, depending on the winter snow pack. I know that's a lot of extra work and painful for the back and legs. Just a suggestion from a Southerner. ✌️🙏
@diyalaskanlifestyle3 ай бұрын
I think that would work great but without equipment would be almost impossible for us to haul that much gravel. During high water there is a lot of silt in the water I think that the silt is going to pack in between the logs and tie them together that’s one of the reasons for all of the branches and willows. We will see!!

I forgot to mention the destructive power of the trees in the river when they hit the "beach" part. How can you protect the tree water beach gathering so that the monster trees or logs dont cath in the trees and destroy the wall? The steal pipes could be also gat a metall line to secure them on the cutted trees. This would be a plus on securing the wall.Drill holes into the pipes then metall robes through them and bind them on the treets.Pressure from above would be reducing the pressure on the pipes that they dont bow into the wrong direction. Old fischer net? Could a big monster fischer net a second secure system for the walls? It depends on how big the net quaders are. Better before you start with the next part- first instale a monster net one the beach with steal sticks all 1 meter- secure them then throu the trees into the space between pipes and then net back like when you fish. Give the tree package a wonderfull net that is bound in the beach! Can be a solution if you can get a used monster net.. Keepng trees and peppels together! Frank

Safe the beach! Good job.1: Firs are better then nonfirs- they will rott not so fast like the others because the needels and the resins of the firs. Resin make the wood "waterproof" they dont rott very fast! 2: Dont put part of the beach on the trees- its sand mix and earth that will be washed away by rain! If you have the time and menpower- use the peppels from the river. That is the perfect weight pressure and filling material for such a improvisations beach protection. 3: metall cable- dont you have them with rubber over it for protection? Last but not least: Your wooden work plattform off course real old school hill bully style :-) BUT if you wont to safe the live of the boys and yourself- cut to wood slats with ca. 150 centimeters and screw them on the ends Buy this you create a "T-carrier" with will be a perfect stabilisation of the work platform.Better safe then sorry and old vers in the german building world. We had 5 albaniens killed on the harbour "Überseequartier" Westfield Hafencity Hamburg. The reason was: They did not work after the protection laws...they fall from high together. The "workplattform broke". scaffolding is part of my knowlage from my job. Its not complicated. Special question: How deep is the beach eara? Do you know how fast he water is in the spring? There is a "hill billy trick" from Germany: Filling old tires with peppel concret mix- keep a hole in the mids and put them over the pipes in the water. You could use metal fence for filling the tire with the mix. As I wrote Hamburg my city is the city with the most bridges in the world- 2500 more then venice. Northsee and eastsee 100 miles away tide in the harbour 8 meters every day- pressure on the "controlled rivers" and the lake in the mittle of Hamburg. They created monster concrete elements like stars- and put them on part of the beach or 100 meter away from the beach in the see to breake the storm power the water power. This they make only there where the water damagde land. Rivers like yours need expertise wissdom. If the new river wall is ready think about to cover it with a waterproofe foil a strong one to reduce the washing power of the rain...Also this could reduce the rotten process... The Generator noises: I know some guys that build mini log cabins 150x 150 x 120 with big logs for the generator with a handy door and the exhaust - the noise would be away and the generator is protected from cold heat rain bears snakes aims ratts and communists Frank

Why not put large rock boulders along the eroding bank? The logs are okay but large overlapped boulders would have been better because they won't rot. I would have loaded big boulders up on a shallow ramp barge and poured them along the bank or used a crane and stacked them up along the eroding bank. Someone whose lived along the Mississippi River, id used large boulders. Wood rots quick when exposed and sitting in water. Also, you're going to have one heck of a beaver problem too once they know the logs are there. Its going to be a mess. Just curious. Nice place there!

So I am no one to provide feedback for shore erosion but I do have experience in saving tree's in Midwest Missouri and its due to high winds, rain storms and tornadoes... What I am proposing is cabling the tree's that line the bank... I have with my Dad's experience a total of 2 large silver maples, 3 Sweet Gums, 4 Bradford pears, and 3 white birch tree's on 3 of our properties that we had a professional tree service cable 60% of those tree's.. The rest me, family and friends helped with after seeing what the crews did... None of those tree's are going anywhere... Look into this. I think this will help out hugely for securing the bank line especially those tree's that carry huge root balls close to the shore line..
@diyalaskanlifestyle3 ай бұрын
Are you saying cable the trees near the river to other trees to keep them from falling? I’ve decided to just cut trees down near the river to keep them from falling and ripping roots out.
@eriklarson21833 ай бұрын
Yes my thought is if you can cable the trees that are along the shoreline to those that are more inland then that should help secure the root bases for those outlying trees.
