How much you get paid tho? is the question

Unfortunately, Basecamp rarely has any openings. Anyone know a similar company I could apply to? Somewhere remote-first, but that doesn’t pay less just because it’s remote. Good benefits, normal hours, summer hours, etc.

well, it is not only Basecamp. Although there is a lot of advertising for their platform between the lines, so many companies are hiring remote employees.

Might not be advertising but a lot of agencies now nowadays are remote but probably not as lenient as base camp in terms of output.

What's the downside of remote-work? I'm not sure. From what I've read and known (2019) about Basecamp, evidently; company and employee have mutual benefits. By not being part of the whole office culture as the rest of the world, mostly, you will not be able to work else where. And so; the company benefits largely here. For me; at its core, work is a defined ("too much of work to make it happen") task with expected results, with little to no interaction the employee and company will progress. Bottomline; work at office mostly and let the work from home be sporadic and subjective. Company = Sales - Cost Employee = You - Employer PS: IMHO - I've no dispute here on the culture adopted in terms of remote work, but every perspective matters and I'm sharing another one.

well I work from home. The downside is missing social interaction with fellow employees. and driving to work. It is still super great though to work from home.

It doesn't really good to work at remote company who claim they are remote friendly but they are not remote first. Their internal process not able scale in other timezone, it required about 1 or 2 years in growing their organization in review their entire process if reasonable to be a real remote first company. Work remotely which give you less relationship with your partners in not remote ready company. If you are responsible person, you might feel there is something stupid in waste your time.

Judging by the chairs they're sitting on, all of them might need a spinal surgery in a couple of years. I hope, I'm wrong.

Fantastic. Sharing this to my team too. The remote work revolution is definitely here. It's only getting bigger and bigger. Since you guys are already on the remote train, www.theremoteworksummit.com/ are you coming to ? It's the biggest remote work online summit this year. Looking forward to seeing all of the huge remote teams in there.

Where's the interview of workers that goof off during the "common" business hours? with these different timezones, there's no way that productivity doesnt take a hit.

That is the greatest part. I can work and be with my family at the same time. I just close the office door when working, but am still around all day.
