Or you can get the Ikea Skorva bed struts. $15 each. I used 4. They slot right into the little oval holes which are the access holes for the sliding door track. Kinda great they built these with those holes on both sides even though they only put sliders on one side. Then about $60 of wood for slats perpendicular to the Skorva struts. Sure it's not as fun as playing with 8020 and all that. But it pops right out once you take the mattress off.

I didn't know this when I drilled into it but I was able to get through it with cobalt bits and stepping up through literally every single bit in the set. But it took all day. What did you do?

Best thing is buy some hardened drill bits and use every size you have to go up to the size you need. it was a bear to drill but got it done... if your prepared with the right tools it shouldn't be a problem but it definitely is hardened and tough to drill and regular drill bits won't work.

@reenatenorio yes held up perfectly with 2 adults sleeping on it all the time. The undrilled L-track is out there... I beleive I got it from Ecargo equipment online...
@ericaswansondufour43572 жыл бұрын
I like this, but why not just bolt the 80/20 straight to the van seems unnecessary to use the l track…
@Projectnortheast2 жыл бұрын
To align the 8020 so it's square with the floor and the back upright. Without it the 8020 would be twisted as no 2 surfaces in these vans line up in any direction. It also gives it a little better structural integrity having the rivet nuts further apart.
@jamesmicah992 жыл бұрын
I was wondering too. However I was thinking maybe 80/20 will be easier to build off of for wall panels?

Which bunkie board did you use? I need the same one. Thanks.

gosh I don't remember... should be pretty easy to find on amazon though. Just search fabric covered bunky board. I did have to cut it...

Also, where you get the mattress?

It's a "best choice" mattress on Amazon

A local guy. It's a template that's available online though I think... not impressed with the warranty service so I can't recommend the installer

I was ready to build this and then realized that the design won't work for extended vans because the C-Pillar is miles from the rear 🤦♂
@Projectnortheast2 жыл бұрын
Why wouldn't it work? Just order longer 80/20... I have a friend that used the design on an extended sprinter
@Mauronic1002 жыл бұрын
If I ran it to the c-pillar it would cross my middle windows which doesn’t do much for me. Also, I want to be able to adjust the height so I will likely run a vertical piece from my garage cabinets.
@Projectnortheast2 жыл бұрын
@@Mauronic100 I at first gave myself room to move my bed up and down but honestly once you find the right height I haven't even thought about moving it after the fact. Ya I don't have windows in the back so...
@jillleahy84502 жыл бұрын
That is correct. In the extended transit, you need to fabricate a mid pillar to attach the suspended rails.

To the misfortune of humanity, planned obsolescence, that is, the waste of valuable resources and many of them unrecoverable and many impossible to recycle, is an unbreakable rule for the benefit of the great corporate capital that owns the world's resources to the detriment of mother earth and the entire humanity that between moans decays hopelessly in sight, American cars are programmed to fall apart as quickly as possible with the least possible effort so that they are as expensive as possible

Thanks for the feedback. But there's a fine line between too little and too much information. Some like yourself have feedback of less better but others have asked for even more detail down to part numbers of everything. So I think I did a pretty good job of splitting the middle. 🤷♂️

@@Projectnortheast I think you need to speak more and show more, 😁. You should link the parts you purchased from Amazon. It'll help people duplicate your build and you get a little something from Amazon.
