you can also rename it to ''alt+255'' on num pad. for those saying you can only do that once because it wil see a copy and say (2) just type ''alt+255- space-space-alt+255" and just give it more ''spaces" the more you need and it wil still be invisible

​@@Cohen- What do you mean reversed. Are you wanting there to be text again under the icon or showing the arrow on the icon?

@@Cohen- So for the text, just right click and renamen and it'll have text again. For the the icon you'll need to delete the registry that you added and log off and log back in and the icon will be back as well. Hopefully that asnwers your question.

Hey great video but after i removed the shortcut arrows, some of my shortcuts lost their icons and just turned white. I tried deleting the shell icon folder in the registry and restarted but it didnt work. Any solutions?

If you completely delete the registry folder edition then it should go back to normal. You can also have the 29 value be blank without all that text stuff and it should also remove the icons

thx but I found a fix all I had to do was run app data, go to local and reveal hidden items, then delete iconcache and restart windows explorer in task manager. that seemed to fix it for me

Hey Awesome video!! Just want to ask if is there way how to hide icon names and show them only if I move my mouse sursor on the icon then the name will pop up and when I move my mouse cursor anywhere else the name will hide. Is there this solution?

Good idea but there isn't any built-in features. You'll probably have to install something to do that

i've done it in the past with software, I'm going to try your way. thks Do you think by now, they get that a natural progression is to customize the desktop and the first thing would be to eliminate those arrows and the names, but no.They have to insist on making it difficult

Yeah, the less software I need to install the better. It would be nice if windows allowed for this customization a little easier but at least there's a way to do it.

Maybe this helps. After doing the first Alt 255 and the name dissapears, then go RENAME AND COPY THAT. The next Icon, paste it twice, and go enter. The next one paste it 3 times and so forth. Just keep count. I did it like that and it was fast

@HussienRashad Go to your desktop and click anywhere. Hold down (leftcntrl) and use your mouse's scroll wheel to adjust icon sizes. This should clear out that missing thumbnail.

Hey. There are a couple of options. 1. Delete the text inside the 29 (%windir%\System32\shell32.dll,-50) and leave it blank. Then restart your computer and see if that resolves the issue 2. Click on your desktop -> left control and scroll wheel to change the size of your icons See if one of those options work for you.

I don't think so. If you're in your desktop and hold the left control and scroll you mouse wheel. See if that does anything

@BigBlockMoto Nope. All you can do is the alt 255 and Space. Do you have more than 500 icons? With (SPACE) , alte255 as your two inputs with a max name of 10 "characters" you have 900 possible name options.

@@lelandjarrett yeah the thing is, as soon as your name gets longer than one colum there will be a small "..." next to the icon

@john wickenhauser Correct and that's what I mention in the video. Even if you kept it no longer than five you still can have at least 32 folders with unique names. So unless your desktop is completely covered with stuff, you should still be able to name everything uniquely. On the other hand, it's highly unorganized; you might as well keep names on things to know what you're clicking on.

You made them too long. You'll need to shorten the name but don't duplicate any names otherwise you'll have a number.

Sorry to hear that. It can be a little wack sometimes. Might try holding left crtl and scroll, which will change the icon size, and see if it'll display with larger icons
