Thanks for the video. I am not a mechanic and I have my 235 apart. Was thinking of just buying a new oil pump for it since I’m not sure who had the engine before me. I don’t know much about these oil pumps. The one that was in there was working. I was leaning on buying a new one just to be feeling better

Do you know if that housing need to be removed in order to pull the crankshaft and cam shaft? Great video by the way!

i have a 1950 chevrolet 3100 truck with a 235 engine. have problem with no oil getting to top of rockers. checked all lines they are clear. removed oil pan test oil pump working but noticed oil going to oil pan looked at the oil distributor valve looks ok. only get oil to top when i plug off the oil distributor valve and the pressure gauge port. then i get oil to main bearings and to the rockers what could be wrong , any information would be helpful, thanks.

What year is the 235? Is it not getting oil to the rockers when the engine is running? Also, do you have a pressure gauge hooked up and if so, what pressure is it reading?

@@poortouringhotwiregarage5617 1950 with the pressure gauge i get 30 PSI.. i took the oil pump out and tested it with a better gauge i get 100 PSI and the check valve goes off at 70 PSI when i close the valve to test the check valve. if i put a plate over the distributor valve to block it off then i get oil going to the rockers i have checked all lines they are clear.

Usually yes as long as you can remove the oil pan which shouldn't be a problem on most Chevy 3100 trucks and even C10s. Not really sure on Chevy cars or anything that has modified front suspension
