I love how gentle you are with the dogs. I've seen groomer videos on here where they are not and the dogs cry in pain. Especially with pulling hair out of the ears.

I started watching your video and stopped at 4 minutes because I remembered that I had forgotten to check/pluck the ear hair on my yorkie poo yesterday when I bathed her and this morning when I trimmed her face. So I stopped the video to do that and do clean paws on her. She doesn't like either one but she knows the treats are coming as soon as it's done 💖

I know that it is better to pull the hair little by little when they got something stuck in the furr, so it's not that painful. But I think it is more irritating, if he has this noise in his ear little by little, instead of grabbing it and pull the plug out all in once... But it might depend on the dog and the plug. If it is not possible to pull it out in tiny pieces, than you have to pull one big plug and if it is not stuck together, it is okay, to make it in small pieces. It is awesome to see how much work you do to help these furry fellas

Our prior dog a wire haired had problem ears with yeast infections. He had some hair in there and vet showed me how to remove it with an instrument called a clamp. It’s sort of like a scissor with a tweezer end. Any way you het all the ear hair in the tweezer end an just keep twisting. It pulls out all the hair at once. The dog didn’t mind at all he actually seemed to like it
@bethanioaks2474 жыл бұрын
Your vet told you to do it that way?! That can be really unsafe to twist and pull all at once. There is danger of pinching or tearing the skin

@sharynwinick97094 жыл бұрын
Probably a distraction
@ArtfulTwist2 жыл бұрын
It is important to distract the dog when he is focused on being upset. Redirect him is helpful ...human doctors, dentists, & nurses all do this with people during injections, dental work & anytime unpleasant is taking place. Piercers do it with people nervous in their chair.

Thank you so much for watching. Wow! This was intense, over a year of ear hair in both ears! I hope it never gets that bad again! You can pick up ear powder, cleaner, and hemostats at www.myfavoritegroomer.com and be sure you are looking in your dogs ears to keep them clean. This guy let me get it all out. I have always been the type to NOT pull all of the ear hair out in a full blast like I've seen other groomers do, but do what you do. Be safe during Covid and the Holidays. If you want to be apart of the gift exchange for Christmas, sign up at www.myfavoritegroomer.com. Be Safe during the holidays.

I am terrified that when hemastat - metal tools (or even swabs) are used for the ears- that the dog will accidentally get poked in the eye!
@Gigi-kl8yp4 жыл бұрын
Actually in most recent years ear plucking is no longer recommended as due to this ripping of hair out can cause microscopic tears in the ear canal. If bacteria are present it’s possible for it to cause an ear infection in the injured ear. Just like the hair in our ears, the hair in a dog’s ear serves a purpose, among these us that it blocks debris from getting into the ear canal. Cleaning and trimming is enough to keep your dog's ears healthy and if there you think there is a need to resort to a more aggressive treatment then it is recommended this be done ONLY by a veterinarian.
@gsdmomb5304 жыл бұрын
I have actually never heard/seen this so called plucking in over 40 years of owning dogs, majority being GSDs. Not even sure why it's even done.

I feel we would equate such pain as our nose hairs being pulled out
@T-RM4 жыл бұрын
Are you plucking the hairs out? If so, doesn't that hurt them?
@sommerjordan25034 жыл бұрын
It does hurt a little bit but it keeps them from getting ear infections especially on the small breeds who are very prone to it and can lose their hearing because of these infections
@Annalovesautumn4 жыл бұрын
It's not very comfortable but if you look at the pulled out hairs they don't really have much of a root like human hair. That, and the fact that they don't yelp or struggle too hard tells me that it's bearable. Especially since leaving it alone greatly increases the likelihood of ear infections, which DO hurt like crazy.
