Ordered mine a couple of days ago. Your videos about your canopy and overall setup have helped so much with my decision making.

Thanks for the vid mate. I’m getting a tray/canopy setup built at the moment and am so torn between lift off or having it fixed.

Get your self an impact driver and you'll do those in no time

Toying with the idea of 125mm swivel castors fixed to the bottom of the legs so it can be moved out of the way when not in use, fairly cheap on fleabay

Hey Mate keep up the vids ! Like the simple, straight to the point info also focusing on real world reviews of products everyday guy can actually afford haha ! I have the same canopy which im currently kitting out. Wondering how you carry the legs ? how often do you take the legs with you ? And how do you factor in the extra 100kg weight with legs on board ? Thanks m8 :)

Also try that size socket bit on an impact driver or drill if you want to speed things up a bit :)

Hey mate, firstly thanks for the positive feedback, really appreciate it! Basically, if we're going to be staying in one place for more than a few nights then I'll bring the legs along giving us the flexibility to take the camper off if we want, which is probably every 1/4 trips and honestly can't notice the extra weight. At the moment we just stack them on the canopy drawers, but I'm in the process of putting together a storage 'rack' next to the drawer unit, here's a pic of the plan: instagram.com/p/B8YAqWtAGcm/

@@clay9077 NEVER use a impact driver on a jack! A drill with good torque should be fine.

How hard is it to get it on- Do you have to reverse the Ute and line it up exactly on the canopy?
@explorebound
@explorebound 2 жыл бұрын
Not as hard as you might think, I find it's quite forgiving and you can shuffle it around as you lower it so long as you're roughly in the right spot (+5-10mm each side).

@@explorebound Great video mate but looking at it, shouldn’t there be locators or something on each corner of your tray? It looks as though it’s just sitting there under it’s own weight and I couldn’t trust just 4x latches like ya have there to keep it all sturdy!😳 Does or not shift a little too much for comfort when cornering etc.?

Hey Mate, thanks for the video! I love your channel! Don't you have any bolts or fixings in your tray? cheers!

Thanks mate - glad you like the vids! The canopy is held on using 4 lockable clamps, one in each corner. Cheers!

the problem is reversing into it by yourself after not immediately driving out like you just did in a straight line

It's actually surprisingly easy, perhaps because I've done it a few times but usually get it first go 👍

I didn't see you undo any bolts? Surely it's not just sitting on the tray with nothing holding it down?

I noticed you just have external over center latches holding the canopy to the tray, are you able to also bolt the canopy down from the inside? Thinking about theft risk.

I’ve bolted my canopy down and made sure to have the bolts not under any drawers. Just used a holesaw through my false floor with conputer desk cable caps to cover the holes when the canopy’s bolted down

okay but now you have a huge canopy on stilts taking up all of you garage space with no way to move it around

I was wondering, are you not worried of hitting the car at the canopy?
@explorebound
@explorebound 4 жыл бұрын
I actually have bumped into the canopy before but so long as you're going slow it's not a huge deal - that being said it is easier than it looks to gauge how close you are while reversing.

G’day mate, good job on the straight forward and visual on lifting canopy on/off. What’re the dimensions of your tray? And canopy pls
@explorebound
@explorebound 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! The tray and canopy are both 1800 wide by 2100 long (canopy is 860 tall). Cheers.

Gday mate im looking in to a jack off canopy to deck out as a camper similar to what you have done one question tho what secures the canopy to the tray ? And can you bolt things to the canopy floor ? Things I'd be bolting down would be a fridge slide, battery, aircompressor things like that
@explorebound
@explorebound 4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, the canopy has a clamp in each corner that holds it on to the tray. The lift-off system also makes it easy to mount through the floor as it’s raised to allow room for the bracing, so you’ve got about 50mm of clearance between the floor of the canopy and the tray for your bolts - check out my review of the canopy on my channel if you’re interested, it contains a few shots of the underside. 🙂

Hey mate just wondering does the canopy wobble around much when lifted off
@explorebound
@explorebound 3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I’ve only lifted it off while camping during calm conditions (not windy) and on flat ground, so can only speak to that but in those conditions it feels very sturdy, almost more stable than on the car due to the legs not flexing the way the car suspension does!
