The 5.56 can I have is direct thread. I could see how it could be misconstrued, but stayed within the guidelines. Even the foregrip is angled, not a straight 90. That’s a gray area, but still legal.

It is a felony if that lower is registered as a rifle lower and not as a pistol lower. As others said a pistol lower can have a rifle upper on it but a rifle lower can not have a pistol upper on it. Maybe I did not hear it but seems like that is a rifle lower (i.e. the pin and weld to make 16” legal rifle), putting a brace on does not change what the lower is registered as (pistol or rifle). So unless he pin and welded that suppressor on that barrel it would be a unregistered SBR. Dumb laws but still laws. People should be made aware so they don’t blindly break a law with serious consequences.

Was the lower purchased as part of a complete rifle or part of a complete pistol? If it was purchased as a complete rifle, it cannot be converted to a pistol lower, per the ATF, but if purchased as a complete pistol, it can be converted to a rifle, then back to a pistol, once disassembled. If the lower was purchased separately as an "other", you can use it as a rifle or pistol lower, but once the lower has been used as a rifle, it cannot be used as a pistol lower, legally. Atf can't prove this with an "other" lower unless you admit it by some means. Even inadvertantly. Stupid, confusing laws. You may want to rethink keeping this video up. ATF has been on a bender lately.

Off the ATF website: "Assuming that the firearm was originally a pistol, the resulting firearm, with an attached shoulder stock, is not an NFA firearm if it has a barrel of 16 inches or more in length. Pursuant to ATF Ruling 2011-4, such rifle may later be unassembled and again configured as a pistol. Such configuration would not be considered a “weapon made from a rifle” as defined by 26 U.S.C. § 5845(a)(4).
