That stuff is murder to get off. I have it on a 2018 Highlander. I was adamant that I didn't want it on the new car I bought but EVERY Toyota on the lot had it applied as a "dealer add on". I asked the dealer to remove it, of course they said they couldn't but would take the price off the car, which they did. But 6 years later that junk is discolored, stained and filthy along all the edges. Not very attractive on a white car. I've been working about a square foot at a time with a heat gun and plastic scraper with the same results as you, tiny pieces that just break off. Maybe in a month or so I'll have it removed. On a positive note after it's off and the paint is cleaned and buffed it still looks good. But if you have an option to apply this stuff...don't !

I will probably walk away from any future car buy if it has this crap on it. Sadly my 2015 Highlander has a clear paint problem now, it started bubbling on the roof. Water got between the clear coat and paint.
