At 5:57 that was a brave little camera. Dave, you would have the perfect job if you didn`t have to drill all of those holes. I expect if you put all of the holes you have drilled in your lifetime, end to end, it would probably reach the center of the Earth or close to it. I am surprised and happy that you are not crippled up with arthritis from all of the vibration and shock to your joints through the years. May it remain so. Another great video with daring camera angles to excite the senses. Thanks for all you do Dave. Cheers.

Hi Dave, another great video. Any chance you could include in some videos items such as: What licencing is required for you to operate, to buy and store the explosives, how you have to store and transport them and are there limits etc. explain who or if you need permissions on each site to work, do you notify neighbours etc. Then there is a whole load of content around how you choose how to do the job, the differences between the explosives and how you decide firing sequences and the equipment you use to fire etc. Just really interested to see the behind the scenes hassles you have to endure. Cheers.

*_I always get a real big BLAST out of Dave's Channel - Aussies Rock._* Never a dull moment down under.... God put lots of Granite in Australia for a reason, so Demo Dave had something to do with all his free time. No boulder is safe around Dave, he is on a Magician's mission to make Granite 'disappear' in Australia. I have seen some bad examples of other blasters not so careful. They do a poor job stemming and don't put backfill over holes. Rock frag flying everywhere is not so cool in an urban setting. Yeah it looks cool, but it is just the opposite. If you are out in the woods or way out of civilization, stemming is enough and flying frag not an issue. *_When its time for 'Fire in the Hole' - Demo Dave never disappoints._* (Pass the Fosters)

What happens to the rock? - The answer is lots of different outcomes, sometimes it goes to a crusher, other times it might go to a guy that sells rock to landscapers etc. often it gets used on site for retaining walls or other uses. Most commonly used explosive is - Orica's Senatel Magnum and ANFO. Thanks for watching.

I'm curious as to why some shots on similar rock break cover. In this video two of the smaller ones seemed to pop more energetically than the bigger shots. Denser rock? More bang on less mass?
@demolitiondavedrillandblast
@demolitiondavedrillandblast Жыл бұрын
The smaller ones had shorter holes and as such, shorter stemming depth and a higher loading rate because the hole spacing to depth ratio is less than ideal so you really have to belt them to get it to break out. Makes them more inclined to launch.

Do you wear special gloves to prevent your hands getting nerve damage running a drill all day? we just bought a joy portable air compressor with a 4 cylinder john deere diesel engine. I got the engine running, but haven't been able to figure out why the air compressor isn't building pressure. Looked down into the intake and the screws look in very good shape. There's a blow off valve that is bleeding quite a bit of pressure out of a little port but unsure.

There are lots of different type of granite rocks with different properties. It all depends on their chemical composition and how fast or slow the rock cooled. Granite is a leftover material from the inside of a volcano. I suppose that he knows from experience and years of drilling granite rock how hard the stuff is, and what to do with it. Although I can imagine that it is always an educated guess. After all it is a natural material that can have natural formed cracks or different properties in different areas. If you watch Nick Zentner, a geology professor in Washington, you can learn more about the different type of rocks and how they are formed. I am not a professional whatsoever, I just watch and learn.

Look up @AndrewCamarata . Within the last year he's removed/moved absolutely massive amounts of stone with bulldozers and other heavy equipment. Though he did get some guys to break up a massive hillside with explosives just to make the job easier.
@insAneTunA
@insAneTunA Жыл бұрын
@@BigglesworthTheGrey Where Andrew lives there is a lot of shale rock. It is a sedimentary rock and that means that it formed in a marine environment. Year after year, for millions of years, fine materials were deposited and after many more thousands or even millions of years that formed different layers of rock. In most cases it is a relative soft rock, and it cracks easily between the different layers. Sometimes those sedimentary rocks get cooked deep in the earths crust and pushed back up again by tectonic forces, and because of the cooking deep below the earths crust they will become hard rocks that will crack in any direction if you would hit them with a hammer. Although you can still still see the different layers of sediments from when the rock was originally formed. But in Andrew's case they are not cooked. What Andrew does with his wheel and track loader and his small bulldozer would not be possible with granite rock, because granite rock is simply way too hard.

Dave .. How come you don’t use Blasting Mats?…
@demolitiondavedrillandblast
@demolitiondavedrillandblast Жыл бұрын
I own a truck load of blast mats that I rarely use, reason #1 - I have to take another truck load to and from the job when in nearly every case the soil is already there. #2 The soil provides a higher level of protection (provided you put enough on). #3 Blast mats might stop flyrock but they do little to manage the blast noise and it is the noise and over preasure that brings complaints (and unwanted spectators). #4 I no longer have to spend my weekends repairing blast mats.
