Yes, animals do that sometimes. We had an incident in Sputh Africa where a completely old and wild elephant kept going to a safari lodge where the staff resided inside the game reserve, and would come hang around there. It was peculiar behaviour and upon a deeper look saw that it had an absess. It waited for the vet and it was obviously trangiilised etc. Vet treated and fixed it, eleohant gone never to be seen aga7n. He was asking for help by going to the lodge all the time. 8t must have been so painful that he knew he had to make contact with the people and vet as he either remembered that a vet once helped him, or that whenever an animal got sick the vet intervened and the animal always always came out better. They are extremely intelligent animal.s

Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book kzbin.infoUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.

We benefit each other when we work together . We sometimes make mistakes but with the help of the ones who love us we can survive. Poor Hatch, after this he needs lots and lots of HUGS! And when his mouth heals, he deserves a treat twice a day, every single day for a year!!! I can't even imagine the pain that resulted from this, poor Hatch, it's okay sweet baby!!!
@SausageSideways2 жыл бұрын
Yeah he deserves hugs for getting a sore mouth trying to kill another creature 🙄 you people are nutters. He wants to hunt then he suffers the consequences. No hugs for any of the animals they catch that are just as important as dogs.

Wow! What a really well-behaved dog!! We had a Canadian Sheperd. She was a great dog and smart too, but there were just 3 things she could never get in her head: 1.) Don't attack collies (she really hated them for some reason) 2.) Don't attack skunks 3.) Don't attack porcupines I remember doing what you guys were doing several times, except all we had were needle-nosed pliers and we did not use the bit. Using that bit is a good idea. We just held her mouth open. It was an activity that involved the whole family. I never knew that cutting the back end of the quills made them easier to extract. That is a really good tip. Good job posting this. You will save a lot of people's dogs.

I had this happen to my dog this morning grouse hunting. I watched this video a long time ago and it helped me take care of my dog quickly. I had the right first aid kit in my vest and in 20 minutes the quills where out and we where on are way to the vet. I was hoping I never needed to do this but this video made the world of a difference. Thanks

You two did that so well, talking gently to him to keep him calm and pulling those darn quills out! Gosh just imagine ifWE were to get quills like that in our mouths! The pain!! I’m guessing that by cutting the quill ends in it allows air in, and releases the pressure each quill was holding it in?….good show to let folk in the wild what they can do if no vet handy. Well done you guys, abd Hatch deserves a medal for being so darn brave!, xxxxxxx

If you have a piece of gauze, it helps hold onto the tongue so you can pull the tongue forward to examine it. Tongues are hard to get a hold of with your bare hands. This pup may have struggled some during this quill removal but for the ten minutes of pain, he will be much better off. Good job.

The pain must have been incredible. The situation is especially bad when the quills are inside the mouth. Our collie once sniffed a porcupine and was quilled in the nose and jowls. Luckily no quills were inside the mouth because she never bit. She was more of a show dog than a hunting dog so was not aggressive but curious. She let us pull them out without needing to be held down and without a sound and kept trying to give us her paw. Such a good girl.

I think like one tip for pulling out quills is that you actually twist them to dislodge the tiny hairs to minimize damage when you pull them out, I hope your dog is feeling better
@they.call.me.ranchcause.i.33813 жыл бұрын
Actually recently found its the oposite, twisting them will cause more tissue damage from the barbs. (Also risk of breaking of the tip and causing infection) Your supposed to grab them close to the tip and quickly pull them out straight the way they went in.
