Great video! Just for clarification: room tone and room echo are two different things. Room tone is the natural sound of the room picked up by the microphone when no one is speaking. Room echo is the amount of reflection that occurs due to the surfaces in the room which affects the sound a subject emits (speaking, singing, etc. in a church vs a sound recording booth).

+TestPage - I am going to assume that you may not understand that using pirated (cracked) software is illegal. I am closely connected with the wonderful people at Adobe so asking me how to use pirated software is like asking a bank teller for a bag to put stolen money in! Seriously, do not use pirated software! Thousands of brilliantly talented people worked very hard to produce the tools we use today so I ask that you respect that by paying for any and all software that you use. Wouldn't you expect to be paid for your hard work?
@MiikaWasHere9 жыл бұрын
VideoRevealed Pirating sucks. I've spent a lot of money buying plug-ins & applications to help my video production but 400$ for app like UNVEIL is a huge price. Cant imagine people seeing that as a good investment. For an example the industry standard (title given by JJ Abrams himself) 3D tracker SynthEyes costs only bit more than UNVEIL.

I've tried them already and they're pretty good. But actually as a plugin for audio processing i only use Izotope Ozone as Excitor and everything else is Analog. But i might swap some of the analog equipment for software due to the need of realtime export which is time consuming.

Wow... Your technique using the parametric equalizer worked great for me. I wasn't dealing with the kind of extreme reverb you used in your demonstration, so it ended up working even better than I expected for what I needed. Appreciate your series, Colin. Your focus on explaining/demonstrating a single topic in each video helps me concentrate on that discrete issue I’m trying to master or improve upon. It’s great in this segment that you show two ways to attack room noise; one using built-in Adobe features, and then the paid plugin “Unveil”. Viewers might like to know that the 3rd party plug-in asks for a price of US$360 plus tax, which is pretty pricey. Would those hard-working developers be able to sell a hundred copies at, say, 36 bucks more easily than ten at 360? Clearly that’s their business (literally). Again, thanks for all the useful videos you share with us. Great stuff!

Great video but I need some additional help. When you were locating the frequencies to lower I was having a hard time telling what you were looking for as you searched your frequency. Were you looking for the echo to get worse or better? It also seems like it might take a pretty keen ear to pick out the frequency that needs to be lowered. My guess is that you were looking for the echo to get worse so you can lower the db of that frequency. Is that correct?
@VideoRevealed4 жыл бұрын
I was not listening for echo, I was listening for that particular frequency to sound worse as I turned it up. It does take some time to tune your ear to hear it but just keep trying.

At that point in the video, I am not shutting off tracks, I was turning off each band of the Parametric EQ. If you want, you can press the M button to mute each track. Maybe that's what you're looking for?
@Rubiksguy8 жыл бұрын
+VideoRevealed thanks. I've been trying to find how to make myself sound less "tin canny". I've played with all of the 1-5 numbers, but I don't know how they function really. Is there any functional difference between these? I know 1-5 are each used for a general range of frequencies, but the thing that confuses me is they can be dragged into another number's frequency range. So, are they just 5 adjustment points to use as needed, all serving the same purpose? Any tips on reducing the echo/reverb?
@Rubiksguy8 жыл бұрын
+Rubiksguy Ive definitely tried to do my research (about 7 hours of it), but no tutorials really give a complete beginner to audio insight as to the functional differences between each of those sliders. Yours has been the best tho, so far.
@VideoRevealed8 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking all 5 points serve the same purpose to you can freely move on point into a neighbouring frequency. There is also the option of High Pass and Low Pass filters that will not have a bell curve and they are at the extreme left or right of the settings. They're aren't going to help in this example but you'd use them for something like reducing the amount of competing frequencies in a musical composition where the kick drum and bass guitar need some separation.

+Anovelby Saki - You can't, and reason is, all clips are different and Audition needs you to tell is what is noise before you can get it out. At least that's the way you should work but you can save all the settings as presets but this will only work if every single clip is the same amount of noise, the same dynamic level and characteristics.

It depends of the recording; sometimes there may not be very many problematic frequencies. You just have to have the monitor volume loud enough and move it slowly enough and the problems will jump out like someone blaring their car horn.

Zynaptiq Unveil is definitely an awesome tool, but a bit pricey for the hobby-user. I see Sweetwater has it "on sale" for $350. That being said, Audition is quite capable of getting good results "the long way." Very helpful overview of the tools to use in Audition!

Unveil is a professional level product so that's why it's priced that way.

Nice video, congratulations. Is there a better plugin now in 2021?
@VideoRevealed3 жыл бұрын
No, it's the same. If you want the best (what I use) then Accusonus is where to look: kzbin.info/www/bejne/np6rdnd-pZ6Jr7c

What exactly are you looking for when you do the sweep. How do you know the point at which the frequency is bad?
@VideoRevealed8 жыл бұрын
You're listening for when the audio sounds worse when you're over a certain frequency. It may take some time to tune your ears but try to listen for something that hurts your ears a bit. You also need to use better quality speakers than the kind on a typical laptop. You don't need to spend a lot of money for good speakers, just something that plays a wide enough range of frequencies.
