I think the diy vices are worth a mention. 4 quick clamps and some medium bore plastic pipe (which you could cut a slot in and do edge work with securing with a cloth). Lightweight you can pack stuff in the tubes + save massively compared to ski specific vices :)

We couldn't agree more! Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best, especially for the casual ski tuner. For our production benches, we simply attach silicone pads to wood blocks and cut slots for edge tuning.

I know some of these videos are made just to teach and aren’t there just to make money. But I really wish when people make these type videos that they would put affiliate links to all the items used. They would make something for putting in the time to share their knowledge and we wouldn’t be left hunting for the items mentioned.

I heard that except from the first tune to set base bevel, you never touch the base edge again, but now im not sure.

After putting a tick layer of storage wax for the long off-season and when the next season comes round do you just scrape/brush this and use it as your base wax or scrape and then re-wax with base wax?
@shaggys_skis2 жыл бұрын
Typically you'd put on a softer wax for storage, then use that as the base and re-wax with something that is more temperature specific to your conditions. That said, all wax is good wax!

Anyone running a belt sander over the base ?

If you are rich, then yes. If poor - you just run the slopes and it cleans itself :)) But the basics are - you leave them waxed for offseason, and scrape right before season.
