Removing Through Hole Capacitors frrom Multi Layer Boards

In this video I give a few examples on how to remove capacitors, the through hole kind, from multi layer boards like computer motherboards. Four ways are examined, solder wick, powered solder sucker, hot air and old style heat and pull. All work except hot air and they rest have their good and bad points.

I've not replaced capacitors on a motherboard as yet but long, long ago... I did change out some 72-pin SIMM sockets with lots of solder wick and judicious use of the solder sucker. Thanks for the videos!

Some times aditional to desoldering station is good to use low melting solder. Best Regards.

Sir, very dedicated multilayer removed 64 pin control card remove main pcb. Best desoldering gun in which use sir. I use goot make but it's very bad performance. All time chokape bits.

I have one of those $150 solder suckers off ebay. Mine has the pump in the base not in the handle. I don't know which is better but for the money I can't complain. Unless you plan on doing a lot of these boards I wouldn't spend $300 or $400 on a good one. I think the good ones will last longer but is that what you really need? Also stock up on good solder wick, the good stuff only. Thanks for watching.
