Great refresher! I had the pleasure of meeting Ed when I picked up my 22. It’s funny how the deference in screen setup and flight style are so uncomfortable to watch! Good job!

Talk about a small world. I'm just 20 miles up the road from Pinehurst in Sanford, NC. Seeing you with the Payne Stewart statue reminded me of the day in 1999 when I took my oldest son, then 12, to Pinehurst for the final round of the US Open. We were the first ones there before daylight and scored outstanding front row seats in the gallery at 18. Payne was maybe 15-20 yards straight in front of us when he sank the putt and struck that winning pose that is now his statue. Thank you for another great video Ren. It's a pleasure to follow along on your aviation adventures.

Well thank you Justin! I'm still learning just like you my friend. And if I could be so bold as to offer a bit of advice as you dive into adulthood. If you want to be really good at something, whether it's flying, or playing golf, or being a doctor or a plumber, hang out with smarter, more experienced people than yourself. You learn faster and you miss some of the rookie mistakes that come from inexperience. Experience matters. The catch is that it takes time to get it. Cheers-Ren

Same thing happened to me at the end of long cross country in my Cirrus (San Diego, CA to Jacksonville Craig, FL). Perfect IFR all the way until - cleared for the visual approach to an unfamiliar airport. Turns out - I did not have the airport in sight when I told ATC that I did, and ended up lined up for short final on the wrong runway. ATC re-cleared me for the runway I was attempting to land on, but clearly, I had no idea where I was on the visual approach. Next time, I will ask for the full approach!

Well to each his own Robert. I think in some ways that is a very traditional 'old school' view of today's technology. Kudos to the folks who learned how to fly with a compass in their hand and charts and ruler in their lap. I don't know how they did it. But its a new world and I'm all about using the best of what today's world can offer. Cheers-Ren

Acknowledge your great work together and the training environment. For our friends watching the video and as a matter of policy, don’t forget to match or in this case rematch the altitude selector with your ATC clearance. Cleared to maintain 8000, rematch the altitude selector to 8000 after the Vnav demo. Don’t flame me...:-) Great video’s

@@TheRenBaron Ren: I have a 2020 SR22T GTS Carbon, red with dark grey interior, and the 4 blade prop. I love the plane! The briefings you do consistently in every video I've watched is something that everyone needs to do. I've flown with many pilots, and although some have a 'brief' briefing, it's not as informative and detailed as yours. I would like to know the details of your briefings, when you prepare them, and generally your thought process in doing so. Thanks for all you do in the community of Cirrus pilots and pilots in general! Paul

Ren, great stuff...of all the perspective equipment on my 2016 SR20 the rnav caught me off guard the most until I started using it all the time. Let me know if you'd like to play a round of golf at Mission Viejo County Club, a Robert Trent Jones Sr course. We have four boys and would love to have you join our foursome...Also the tip on shooting the rnav into KSMO using the power reduction and dialing in the lower altitude really worked. ATC seems to always bring me in high on that approach. Have a great day.

Yeah the VNAV feature is one of my absolute favorite go-to features in the Perspective system. Thanks for the invite to Mission Viejo. I've played there a few times over the years in SCGA events. Tough track! I might be in OC at the end of the month to see a concert with my son (he's a golfer as well) in Dana Point. Maybe a little golf before the big rock show?

@@TheRenBaron Getting ready to buy a sim, looking at realsimgear, I believe you have a sim, any suggestions?
@TheRenBaron3 жыл бұрын
@@paulgaarenstroom2490 You've picked a good time to take the plunge. The 2 main players in the Cirrus Flight sim niche are RealSimGear and Noble Flight SIm. Both great companies run by real Cirrus pilots. Check out this video that describes my sim setup in detail. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXmop6mKhL17jaM You'll see that I've kind of mixed and matched a bit between RealSimGear and Noble Flight Sim. I've added a Noble Flight Sim throttle quadrant since this video was posted. I use X-Plane 11 as my sim platform and the TorqueSim SR 22T TN G3 flight model which is terrific. I use my sim ALOT and it really is the next best thing to flying every day without having to pay $6/gallon for 100LL. Cheers-Ren

@@TheRenBaron I'm going with the full set up with realsimgear for the desktop with perspective and buying their Cirrus yoke and throttle package, a bit pricy but will be identical to my cockpit. Now I need to wait 6 weeks. For sure will save on gas and maintenance...lol Time to shoot some low approaches and departures in hard IFR conditions.

When flying with an instructor, even a CSIP of the year, if he touches buttons, he gets a polite request to let me learn. After the second press a stern reminder. After the third press, I don’t fly with him again. I hire him to help me learn. When he thinks I am going to violate a FAR or crash, then it’s ok.
@TheRenBaron3 жыл бұрын
I don’t disagree with your comments in a general sense. But I didn’t hire Ed to be my instructor on this flight to Vegas. My friend Ed and I flew to Vegas meet up with another Cirrus pilot to shoot some videos for my KZbin channel. And nobody was getting paid. All for the love of flying! And so if he wants to push a couple of buttons I don’t have any problem with that. If we were in a strict instructor/student pilot trust me he’s all business. I know from experience as he was my Cirrus transition instructor when my wife and I bought the plane. Thanks for posting. Much appreciated. Cheers-Ren

@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Karl. I used to work in the music biz for years so I'm certainly aware of the copyright issues. On all my uploads with music the royalties that are generated from each view go to the songwriters and publishers, not me.
@KarlMarshall5 жыл бұрын
Cool just they have algorithms to detected music that plays in videos, so you might get copyright strikes against the channel automatically depending on who’s music it is. Just a FYI but yea nice video.

Sorry, but I found the music way too distracting.
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
No worries. The audio feed for the video comes from the audio panel so there's no way to lose it without losing all the audio. But, I like to have a little music playing on x-country trips. I find it relaxing. If we ever fly together I can mute the music to your headset. Cheers-Ren
