So many wrestlers died in the 2000s it’s actually ridiculous. Yokozuna, Terry Gordy, Davey Boy Smith, Mr Perfect, Miss Elizabeth, Chris Candido, Road Warrior Hawk, Big Boss Man, Eddie Guerrero, Earthquake, Bam Bam Bigelow, Mike Awesome, Chris Benoit, Fabulous Moolah, Test, Umaga, “Dr Death” Steve Williams, etc.

But the real tragedy was Owen Hart…Miss Owen so much
@jamessorge31973 жыл бұрын
Randy Savage, Roddy Piper, Brodie Lee were some of the most depressing to me... And Owen which I remember watching live... ...it was a surreal night because there was a limo in front of my townhouse that turned out to be Wesley Snipes. My neighbor two doors down had a daughter that was dating him at the time. So I remember all the neighbors being outside talking about it and waiting for him come back out the house to ask for autographs and meet him... and I missed it to go back in and watch the ppv... I remember when they cut away and the announcers being shook and realizing it wasn’t part of the show... Owen along with Michael’s and Tatanka and Bret were my favorite wrestlers in the early nineties... and I went to a house show where I made a sign for Owen when he was feuding with Bret and supposed to be the heel... and I remember going downstairs and telling my father I think Owen had just died in the ring... and he was like “it’s not real”... he had had to explain to me Wrestling was just an entertainment show that wasn’t real back when Tatanka turned heel and joined the million dollar man I was brought to hysterical tears because at that time he was my favorite. So I knew at this time when Owen died it mostly wasn’t real and I was like “no he was coming down from the ceiling and fell... they cut away from the ring. I’m pretty sure this is real” and I could tell he agreed when he turned it on downstairs and saw how they were covering it. He was like is that the guy you made the sign for when we went to that show a few years back?” Loved them. Sad they aren’t around to interact and be part of AEW... and be truly honored for all the entertainment they brought us. And Brodie of course was such a shock because he had been so heavily featured that year and months prior and seemed so happy after WWE had wasted and imprisoned his career for so long. 😢🙏

I met René a couple years back when my friend managed to get him to come perform for one of his wrestling tours. Down to earth guy. No big ego, no thinking that he’s better than everyone. Just a really nice guy who’s down to talk whenever. But I never tried to bother him too much. He may be a veteran and usually vets don’t help much after the shows, but he took the time to help us set up and take down the ring. He also got Super Crazy for that same tour, but he had to leave early, and Super Crazy returned some of the money that was suppose to cover his expenses for the whole tour. I’m not a wrestler myself, because of some bad concussions I sustained when I use to play ice hockey. But my friend usually brings me along for tours to help out with the ring, play the entrance music, meet some of the special guest wrestlers he can get, sell merch and sometimes referee. Wrestling tours are fun.

He is 100% correct. I'm not a wrestler but I worked for my family and was the ONLY one who could do literally everything in the business. If I was hurt or down for any length of time, the business would've crashed and burned. So when I messed up my leg really bad, I started taking pain killers. That was the worst decision I ever made. I felt really good for a while and then realized that I would probably die if I kept going. That was the hardest pill to swallow ever. I'm glad that I got away from that stuff but it took a couple years for it to sink in. That stuff is bad news

@ozates83473 жыл бұрын
Owen's Accidental Death, changed things in the WWF but only short term. The Steroid Trials came during a time when WWF's business was at it's lowest point, 1994 I believe? To me to Double Murder Suicide by Benoit back in 2007 sped up the demise of the RA Era just a year later, chair shots to the head should be banned anyway, they are too dangerous for a Wrestler to take anyway because of CTE/Head Trauma just look at what happened to Mick Foley against The Rock from the Royal Rumble in 1999 as an example of how unsafe it was for him to take those unprotected chair shots to the head and that was in the Attitude Era. Chair Shots to the head should have been banned in WWE after the Wellness Policy was implemented back in 2006, it took 2 and a half more years before it was finally banned. Oh and they should get rid of HIACs on PPVs/TV because it is pointless to have them now if no bleeding is allowed in those type of matches anymore. Same thing goes for the Extreme Rules PPV and the Extreme Rules Match itself. I can't remember the last time there was blood in a No DQ Match in WWE, I think NXT was the last time I saw that happen. It involved Aleister Black and Adam Cole at a Takeover back in 2018, I think NXT Takeover Chicago II in 2018 was the last time there was blood in a match.

As a performer, loved having him in ECW, was going to make him the ECW World Heavyweight Champion, was going to put him in a feud with Eddie Guerrero that would have carried us. The very first PPV was going to be Sabu vs. Taz, Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven, Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero. If we had gone on PPV in ’96, that would have been our first PPV. So as a talent, remarkable. As a human being, I don’t care about CTE, I don’t care what the reasons are, Nancy and Daniel had no option, he did. Fook him.” - Paul Heyman courtesy of Wrestlefix.com

As much as I can agree with Paul On his comments... according to the medical community he can not care about CTE all he wants , the facts are there....he HAD CTE...it distorted his thinking....and in a sense....Chris never really had that choice... that's what makes it a real tragedy....when there is evidence to show why there should be a lessening of culpability and it's gets shat upon.
