Fred Again is a UK EDM DJ/Producer. The mash up is of 5 EDM tracks : Jungle ; Delilah (Pull Me Out of This) ; leavemealone ; Clara (The Night is Dark) ; Angie (I've Been Lost). Ren saw Fred Again live in LA and broke down when he heard the "I've been lost" refrain being repeated over and over again. He said that it perfectly described his own life for the last 10 years

This song moves me. "Is it not for me?" you ask us? Are you an artist, singer-songwriter (whom I've never heard of outside of looking for reactions)? I'm not hatin', just asking. It's a reaction video, what do YOU think? Me? I'm an old assed veteran, never was into hip-hop. Yet, here is this guy (Ren) that spends most of his week with an IV in his arm getting treatment, working hard, and is inspired by Fred Again. (Apparently an EDM artist that I also never heard of.) Ren puts together this, and take nothing from it. Do you have an opinion on that as one artist looking upon another? The quest of watching reaction vids is to hear YOUR opinion? You looked pretty stone faced. Take away Ren's "journey/illness", take away simple lighting and one shot cinematography. I'm left with a singer with an amazing voice expressing, feeling, inviting us to join him on his personal homage to another 3rd artist, using that other artist's work to inspire and emote. And his performance is absolutely moving, the expression he gives combined with the blending of the mash up, there is plenty to say about Ren. There is vocal analysis, his guitar work, the camera work, the overall expression of the work, the under lying expression of the work. Perhaps even an insight in what drives Ren himself. I'm not saying you have to even like Ren, or his style. But, to me, there are those certain artists that one comes across that it doesn't matter what his art is, it can be recognized, and as it has been told to me of art, any reaction, makes it art of some worth. The reaction video is the time for you, @IzzyIzenstain, to give us your opinion, rather than to ask us ours. Yes, comments help drive algorithms. But maybe you can talk about why you liked his camera movement, or how it vaguely reminds you of someone. Did you feel it was just another song, wasn't your style, did or did not like the guitar playing, or maybe you'd prefer the story telling bard videos, and if the song isn't telling a story, why don't you think there is no story there? Was there something about the performance that turned your insights inward? Why? Many of us know the video you are reacting to, I have played it myself many times. So you can stop, pause, reflect, let us know what YOU think as many times as it comes to you. That is why I am subscribed, and came here to watch your reaction to Ren. It's your reaction that I was expecting to see. And in my opinion, I think you fell short on expressing much. Sorta a shrug and a meh. Don't like it? Why? Not your style? Understandable. At the end, you asked us what we think down below. Here I am, and here is what I thought. I'm hazard that I've given you more without a video, than you just gave your viewers. I gave you a thumbs up anyway, but I want your feelings and opinions.

Pal, you need to take a chill pill. Personally I really like this performance but for this guy it doesn’t really rock his boat, which is also fine. For me, some of REN’s music is just sublime and some of it I’d rather pull my finger nails out than listen to again. It’s a matter of horses for courses!

@@supertuscans9512 First thing I said was "This song moves me". I've watched the original many times. But here, I'm watching a reaction. And I was kindly asked by the Izzy as in: "leave comments below," so I did. I even agreed with you that he didn't have to like it. I just asked Izzy to react. I gave him prompts to use to inspire commentary. And I'd even be interested in why it may not rock his boat. Sorry to have stirred you up, SuperTuscan. Hopefully you support the portions of Ren you enjoy, and yes, some of it is certainly heavy, and not really my style either, but I don't let it stop me from letting me appreciate what he can do. Thanks for the chuckle on the colloquialism. Used to be a horse trainer, so I know why that phrase exists first hand. Did you give Izzy a like?

For me, this one hit me on a personal level. It’s incredible that he seamlessly wove 5 different Fred again EDM tracks and made it his own in a deeply emotional acoustic performance. The video treatment was exquisite. It was filmed by his buddy Josh in the apartment in Calgary Ren’s been living in while getting medical treatment for over a year. So the final part “I’ve been lost for a while, but I’m really trying” hit hard as he looked out at a skyline so far from home. You could see him shaking at the very end. I think many of us connect with Ren on an emotional level. He writes in a way that helps us channel our own journey through life’s struggles. But his other two recent releases (Back on 74 / Message in a Bottle and Nas’ Halftime retake) showcase the broad range of his talent.

Thanks for sharing Elizabeth! It's a great thing about music, isn't it.. that we can see ourselves in certain songs and artists. And great songs seem to have infinite meaning. I was thinking recently that songs I was listening to as a teenager have completely different meaning to me now. Which is pretty cool.

FRED AGAIN is currently Ren's favorite artist. He does combination voice/electronic edm dance music. Huge crowds. Ren went to 2 concerts in LA this past year and when the "ive been lost " song came on,the simple repetitive line just broke him down in the middle of the crowd. He says it perfectly described the last 10+ years of his life . I personally love this song. I saw the bts of this and Ren directed all of these camera angles and the "floaty" nature of the moves. Josh Stiles did the filming. This is Ren's bedroom in his apt in Calgary, Canada. I love the intimacy and raw emotion and the isolation we experience during grief. And there is great grief in illness . It serms poignant that at the end he stops playing and grabs his knee, which is shaking. He just recently ended up in bed again due to extremely low blood pressure. With even more than a year of treatment, he has only been able to add one food to his small list of things he can eat. But, YAY, bok choi! I can't think of who else he might sound like. Sounds very Ren to me. Thanks for doing this. Have a great day Izzy! I'll have to check your list, but have you done Seven Sins? Or Penitence? Penitence is old but one of the most poetic if his songs, i think, with Molly Mc cenna

I friggin loved it. Not being familiar with Fred Again, I went a bit into that rabbit hole, only to discover, what impressive mush Fred produces. EDM, but I love dance tracks. The way Fred puts together a dance track, is by taking some words from friends, maybe from a phone call, or some abstract thing that happens in his life, and turning into a very emotional EDM track, its art as well. Ren could totally relate to the 5 Fred Again songs, and weaved them into a little piece of magic. Damn Ren, I love your gift of music.

Heyy my friend how are you?! I am obsessed with this song, well with all 3 of his recent drops. Back on 74/ message in a bottle retake and halftime Nas retake are insane! This one had me bawling all night at work the night it came out as I kept watching reactions to it. I suppose because I have chronic illnesses/ mental health it really resonates with me so if you don’t, maybe you just don’t feel it. Thats okay, we don’t all like everything. Anyway here’s the songs and lyrics so you can check out the originals which just happen to be EDM tracks by Fred Again. How he has managed to turn 5 EDM tracks into an acoustic song I don’t know. This was certainly earth shattering for Ren, he poured his heart out on this mashup. But then again his big fans know him very well from all the many bts footage videos we get to see. Plus the behind closed doors footage and watching his music since he was a teen till present day is a lot of footage, 100's of videos, you get to know an artist that is wide open for all to see. Just a quick glimpse of only a couple of his songs I can see why you didn't care much for it because you don't know him. Most reactors check out so many artists it is hard to know any one artist. Some of the reaction channels started with Ren and have done many of his videos so they get him more than others. Thanks for the honest reaction anyways.

I knew i wasnt going to get much from you when i saw the legnth of your video. I was surprised because i think this is a gut punch of a song. Musically, The Big Push seems to appeal to you more. I tried to think who the vocals reminded me of but could only agree with a previous comment that Ren reminds me of Ren. It's okay if this song left you feeling a bit flat -- at least you're honest. I dislike the reactions that gush over him like they're afraid to criticize anything for fear we Renegades will abandon them. That's not who we are. TBH, it took me a fair few listens and some backstory to really get it.

Five song mashup and the funny thing is, that the originals from Fred again are EDM songs so very different and I like what Ren does here. He is as usual all in and this is very emotional. I do though like, even better, his new mashup/retake on Back on 74/ Message in a bottle (with his own rap part added in-between). It is much more relaxed and happier retake and his enjoyment comes through. Back on 74 is a very recent song by Jungle although you might think different hearing this retake and I like especially how each song blends into the next. The riff from the Police song is introduced early in Back on 74 and the rap part uses elements of the first song in the beginning and the end. And in the Police song you hear the backup singers respond to Ren (singing Sending out an S.O.S) with the same phrase as Ren did to them earlier in Back on 74, that is Let it go.

I think this take on 5 different EDM "Fred Again" tracks is freakin amazing! I am 68 years old, and I found Ren's music touches my heart in ways not felt in today's music for years! Ren does so many different styles, some you may not like, but there is no way to deny his talent. I personally never liked rap at all, I am of a generation not used to it, but I even like some of ren's rap songs, because he always has lyrics that are unmatched in other rap songs, maybe why I could never connect to that style. He is a brilliant lyricist, plays multiple instruments, vocals amazing, he is the whole package IMO, a talent of this generation, plus a damn amazing human being. He has a short video on reaching one million subscribers, watch that, you'll see his heart, heart and talent, you cannot ask for more.
