What a way to be introduced to Ren! 😂 Bless you, you did great despite not knowing the background story. To be fair, i see many have already explained and directed you to his half hour video, where he explains in his own words. I thoroughly recommend you watch this (react or in your own time). As musicians, you will relate I think. As for Ren himself, I feel you need a bit of context into him before you go any further bc I feel you have the impression he's 'just a rapper' (I don't say that in a derogatory way, it's just that he does so much more). Ren is a rare artist in that yes, he can rap, but he can also sing and heck can he tell a story! You cannot pin him down to any genre and I (and many others) feel he has created his own genre tbh. Also one song is every song is very different from the next. Ren, is Welsh but brought up in Brighton where he busked bc he just loved it. He got dicovered by Sony who signed him as a teenager. Unfortunately, he very soon started feeling unwell and this progressively got worse and worse to the point he couldn't write or perform anymore and the contract was dissolved by mutual agreement. Over months and then years, Ren's condition went from bad to worse. Drs who checked him out several times couldn't find anything that they expected and decided what he was going through, was all in his head. They diagnosed him with a few psychological conditions and sent him packing with meds to that effect. Ren tried everything and yet his illness was still very present. It got so bad that he was in excruciating pain constantly, could barely eat any food without having reactions to it and so exhausted all the time he spent 23 hrs a day in his bed. At the peak of the disease Ren even found himself having psychotic breaks. Now imagine this lasting around 7 years and most of your 20s. Ren never gave up though, and despite wanting to, he found solace in his music. However, he felt at many points, that this disease would kill him b4 he was 30. He had taught himself to play guitar and piano, bass and drums and he wrote and wrote. Then one day, after researching and self advocating, a dr in Brussels gave him a diagnosis, he had Lyme's Disease; a condition you contract from a single little tick bite. He began to receive treatment and felt better shortly after. He released Hi Ren, bc he felt he wanted to leave something behind to help others as he still believed he wouldn't last very long. He got stronger and eventually moved to Calgary, Canada to receive specialist treatments for brain damage and autoimmune conditions that plagued him as a result of the Lyme's running rampant around his body for so long. He was there for 18 months and still released songs and created. He came back in July this year to perform on stage for the first time in five years only to find one of his major songs called Sick Boi was taken down due to a copyright claim and the rest you probably now know. I'm apologise for the looong comment, but i thought it might help you going forward. Ren loves reactors, so if you get a copyright claim, just dispute it and he'll take it off so you can monetise. Hope you enjoy the ride down the rabbit hole! Peace out ✌️🇬🇧

Kujo is a producer that Ren purchased a beat from for the title track of his album called Sickboi. The beat had a stolen sample in it which ended up causing him to take the track down. Kujo and his girlfriend then started trashing Ren and lying about him in public (this is the very short version, he has a video on his channel breaking the whole situation down, check it out if you want ALL the context). The chorus in the video is meant to represent the stolen chorus sample in the beat he purchased. Kujo tried to get Ren to pay more than the contract granted him, Ren tried to find ways to work with Kujo but kept getting shut down....so he said fuck it, Im dropping this song letting you know how I feel about the situation and remaking the beat for Sickboi myself. Basically a big middle finger to Kujo for getting greedy and fucking with his work.

Most of his fans are not like that. I suggest you check out that video. If no time the first few and last few minutes. Kujo is a beatmaker who sold a beat with unlicensed sample. (Ren also a producer and makes most of his own beats). He struck the video Sick Boi and had it removed. Other day YT stepped in and put it back up. Ren then met with the head of YT music global. Lads, trust me on this, this is one of the best British artists in generations and he’s not long had a uk no.1 album as an independent artist. He crosses lots of genres from rap, hip hop, ska, punk, soul, indie, ballads, collabs, retakes, the list goes on. He does most videos in one take and live. No song is the same. He does a bit of theatrical in some of his work but it’s top notch. He also has a band called the big push. Here’s some recommendations Hip hop / rap - the hunger, losing it, his whole sick boi album, troubles Bardcore- tales of Jenny & screech, money game trilogy Reggae - humble, ocean (Ren) I shot the sheriff medley ( the big push) Rock - war pigs, what kind of woman is this? ( the big push) Soul - blind eyed Funk - back on 74 Indie ballads - chalk outlines, how to be me Indie- diazepam, dominoes, ready for you Country rap - hold on Collabs - Prof, Chris webby Retakes - Nas half-time, bittersweet symphony, Fred again mash up The list goes on, there’s loads more bangers that I’m sure others will suggest Hope this helps, it’s a journey worth going down. Love this reaction. You guys had no clue who Ren was or what this was about. Genius. You got it straight up. Also, I think you may have just found a few thousand new subscribers. Ren is freaking amazing. Ren is a rapper but in no way a contemporary rap style. He is an amalgum of several genres. I suggest you watch the series 'Money Game 1, 2 and 3'. The final version is a masterpiece--a work of pure art. You said, "we are missing something contextually". Absolutely, there is a great deal, a huge backstory. This diss track is basically a shoutout to many of Ren's prior works. Beginning is the inner dialog from 'Hi 'Ren'. Reference to Jimmy and the cookie in the jar is from 'Money Game 3'. The Choir in the background relates to 'Sick Boi' and the copywrite takedown by Kujo. Ren and King Dotta had a beef a while back and performed diss tracks; but they became friends as a result. Henc the line about Dotta. Ren is just amazing.

@perfectkismet2 ай бұрын
This is such a wild video to introduce Ren 😂 You guys took it better than most newbies. More than an actual diss, this was more venting. The actual first time Ren's done the truly angry thing. Everyone says to watch the 35 min video and you should because Ren came with receipts, but contextually he put this entire thing - the rap, the beats, the production, the video - together in about a month to be relevant. The very short story is that Kujo is a producer who sold Ren a beat with a stolen sample, then used the renegotiation of the contract necessary to compensate the sample owner to try to demand more money because the song had blown up. When it wasn't working, they put a copyright strike on his own song and got it pulled from KZbin as leverage. Instead of giving in, Ren pulled the song - the title track of his album - from ALL digital platforms so they get nothing. This is all as he was trying to be really nice and they returned the gesture by posting all over social media lying and smearing his name. So this was him venting and served as his warning that he'd come for them legally instead of artistically next. This video is so wildly out of character for this guy it's crazy... but as for what to really expect from him? That's even harder to address. He raps - rap rap, technical rap, storytelling raps, fun raps - he sings, he plays something like 7 instruments and he'll often do many of those things in the same track. He also does almost all of the behind the scenes stuff, himself. He has fun songs and deep songs... is a champion for chronic illness and mental health, as he suffers from both. He's an independent artist from Wales/Brighton who started out busking and went viral a year ago with Hi Ren. His Sick Boi album was #1 in the UK. But above all, he's one of the nicest guys in the world (and he loves reactors, if you get your reactions blocked dispute it and he'll get it fixed).

Cliffnotes on the situation: Ren was sick with undiagnosed lyme disease for over a decade. He poured his heart and soul into his song Sick Boi about it, which had a beat he purchased an unlimited license for on BeatStars, made by KujoBeats. There was 1 issue with publishing and Kujo didn't get paid and a 2nd issue with a sample in the beat that Kujo stole and did not disclose to Ren. The people who own the stolen sample (a Bulgarian choir) caught wind of Sick Boi and came after Kujo for money. Instead of reaching out to Ren to resolve any of this, he put a copyright strike on Sick Boi to basically hold it ransom for money. Kujo's lawyer is going after Ren for way more than they're owed. Ren extended multiple olive branches and tried to work with Kujo and help him resolve HIS predicament, all refused by Kujo. Kujo attempted to lie about the contract and said it's up to Ren to clear the sample Kujo stole. And Kujo's girlfriend and Ren had a nice chat behind the scenes and it seemed like they wanted to work together to find a solution that works for everyone, then she turned around and started posting to his Reddit group lying about the contract. He told her if she continues to publicly lie about the situation he's going to sue them, then to circumvent that she started PM'ing Renegades instead. So yeah, she gets to be a star in his video now too. There's an entire video explaining most of this, with screenshots of conversations and emails confirming everything on Ren's channel if you want to check it out.

Hahahaha, this is a funny one to be your first time reaction to Ren for! So, most of the comments will already explain the sitch, but he reached #1 in the UK Album charts almost a year ago with his album "Sick Boi." The title track Sick Boi got taken down from all media platforms after the producer, Kujo, who he purchase the beat from, failed to get clearance for the sample of the choir. There was some back and forth between Ren and Kujo but basically, Kujo has put it all on Ren even though Ren paid for unlimited ownership of the beat.... Under the premise that it was Kujos beat (which strictly, it wasn't). Pretty poorly explained but summarises in a few words. The guy had a #1 album which was a rap album so definitely delve into it. Ren fans literally trawl the internet for reactions so you'll definitely get views out of it. If you wanna see theatrical stuff, The Tales of Jenny and Screech (which has been compared to Dance with the Devil by Immortal Technique). If you wanna hear some more rappy type stuff - anything off the album. Wanna hear guitar and singing stuff - try Humble. If you wanna hear the song that blew him up - Hi Ren Alternately, the song that this diss track is related to, Sick Boi, literally got reinstated on KZbin yesterday! He's a jack of all trades and master of most too. Definitely an interesting artist to delve into

Allllll of it is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This song is about Kujo beats who Ren purchased a beat from...kujo put an unlicensed sample in that beat. Then kujo came to Ren to pay the people who were coming after him for using the sample.... Theres an entire video he put out about this whole thing. But the song Sick Boi is the song in question and it's back up on you tube now.

Hi Ren is where reactors usually start. If you want to hear more rapping type songs, I'd suggest Genesis, Wicked ways, hold on, sevin sins, murderer, or the hunger. If you want hear him sing sing, I'd suggest, chalk outlines, blind eyed (live), back on 74, how to be me, or fred again mash up. He has an extremely large catalog that will keep you busy for a long time and will bring you in a lot more views

Ren is Truly a Once in a Multi-Generational Artist on the Level of Shakespeare. He is a Performance Art Master who blends music and character acting from all the styles over the last 500 years and makes it Modern and Relatable to all Generations even if normally you may not be a fan of whatever genre he is currently performing. From Location and Video Directing Worthy of Tarantino or Spielberg, to Lyrics Shakespeare would have been Proud to have Written, To an Emotional Performance on par with Marlon Brando or Morgan Freeman and the Musical Prowess of Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton and the Vocal Chops of Robert Plant or M&M! The RENegades Welcome a New Member to the RENaverse! May Your Exploration of the Ren Rabbit Hole be Deep and Complete! You Won't Be Disappointed!

This was hilarious, your faces 😂😂😂. You are most definitely missing something, i would start with Hi Ren, then Sick Boi and then you can try pretty much anything else he has created and you will understand ❤. Going to sub for your Ren journey!

Subscribed. Essentially you walked into the room, sat down and started watching The God Father 2 two thirds in. Love it. There is a lot of context you missed and really I think that is a good thing. My advice is simple. Let the Renegades guide you through his videos including the one where he explains what happens. Once you got some of those covered such as Hi Ren, sick boi, Money Game 1, 2 and 3. the Trilogy of Jenny and Screech, Dumb King Come, and a few others. Then go back and re-watch this on your own or do a new reaction. You will then make all the connections. There is a lot of call backs to previous songs. Also Ren has a wide variety of talents and styles. For example: Ren x Chinchilla - One Dance / Drunk in love ( Drake / Beyoncé cover ). No worries the Renegades are great and will not only guide you but make it fun as well. Enjoy.

Ren's musical journey is nothing short of remarkable. Even before his health issues began, Ren was already on the path to becoming a star. As a teenager, he had a record deal and was set for success, but his plans were derailed by undiagnosed Lyme disease, which left him physically and mentally debilitated for years. Despite being trapped in his bedroom due to illness, Ren never stopped making music-using it as a way to process his pain and continue creating even in the darkest moments of his life. This parallel between his illness and his music is a defining aspect of his story, as he drew strength from music to survive his most difficult struggles. The title track *Sick Boi*, which reached #1 in the UK, was an exception to his usual production style-he bought the beat from KUJO Beats via BeatStars. However, after the song's success, a legal issue surfaced: the beat KUJO sold contained an uncleared sample from a Bulgarian choir. This caused the sample’s owner to demand 50% of the publishing rights. In response, KUJO, feeling pressured by the claims, tried to renegotiate his deal with Ren, demanding more than the original agreement by exploiting a minor oversight in Ren's team’s upload of the track. When Ren refused, KUJO removed the beat from streaming platforms to pressure Ren into paying more than what was agreed upon. And that's why he's so upset. Sick Boi isn't a made up song, it's the narrative of his personal story. My personal opinion is that Ren feels that due to greed, and stubbornness that they are attacking something far more valuable than his money, they are attacking his ART. They're stopping him sharing his story. Ren, didn’t back down. He responded by publicly explaining the situation in a video, with text and email receipts and later released this diss track titled *KUJO Beat Down*, calling out KUJO's behavior. People's reactions was to call this "Diss Theatre," highlighting the dramatic and captivating style Ren employs. What impresses me most about Ren is the depth of the well he draws from. Ren had to find light in the absolute darkness-transforming his immense struggles into something good and meaningful. His music was a lifeline during his illness, and that’s something we can all relate to if we think back to our own darkest times. It’s his ability to channel suffering into art that makes his work resonate on such a deep level. It's what people connect to through his music. If you're new to Ren’s work, start by *reacting* to *Hi Ren*, a raw portrayal of his inner struggles. From there, dive into *Sick Boi* to truly understand his journey. You should also check out *Money Game pts. 1 & 2*, which deliver powerful social commentary, and *The Tale of Jenny and Screech*, a stunning multi-part narrative of tragedy and street violence that highlights Ren's exceptional storytelling ability. His other standout tracks, like *Power*, *Chalk Outlines* with Chinchilla, and *Blind Eyed* with Sam Tompkins, further showcase his versatility. For a live performance vibe, check out *The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff*. Once you're familiar with Ren’s story and talent, watch the video where he addresses the KUJO situation in full, then come back here and rereact to KUJO Beatdown-it’s a jaw-dropping moment in an already stellar career. Enjoy diving down the Ren rabbit hole!

This had me in stitches!! I’m sure you’ll get bombarded by Renegades with suggestions. But yeah you’ve literally come in laaaaaate to the party, which is cool 😎 There’s so much more. To get better context of this particular track you need to: - watch his 35min video about why his track ‘sick boo’ was taken down - watch Hi Ren (which is at about 38milliin views on YT with a gazillion reactions too) - watch Money Game parts 1,2 (lyrical video & 3) - watch the original sick boi video which is back online whilst Ren & Kujo’s lawyers sort stuff out (it’ll make sense once you’ve got the back story) Also, Hunger for his rap, his feature on Chris Webby’s ‘Baggage’ and that’s just the tip of the Ren iceberg!! He’s an independent artist who had a no.1 album ‘sick bio’ off the back of no touring or radio play. It’s also worth getting to know his personal story, some of which you will vis his music. In a nutshell he’s been ill most of his adult life with, until recently, undiagnosed Lyme disease. There’s a LOT of missing context guys. I’d love to see a reaction to this again once you’ve got the context to see how it is for you when it makes more sense and you’re potentially, like many of us with Ren, emotionally invested. Love and light 💓🔥

For less theater, try Nas Halftime Retake, Wicked Ways, Troubles, Seven Sins. Ren is different but has the fan base and views because of that. He creates art. He's a rapper, singer, multi instrumentalist, producer, storyteller... etc. Most of the tracks that are iconic are theatrical although he has many that aren't.

I've been a Ren fan basically ever since Hi Ren was first released on KZbin. I have heard basically every song he has ever made including covers, The Big Push and features in other artists songs. He is officially my favourite artist to the point where some music I used to like just doesn't make the cut on my playlists anymore because Ren raised the bar. I knew the entire back story before I watched Kujo Beatdown and even I was taken aback a little the first time I listened to it. So this being the first song of his you hear is crazy lol. So glad you guys stuck with it and you have been able to see what we all see in him. He is an extraordinary artist that spans across almost every genre. A person who has seen both great joy and more loss, suffering and pain than most could possibly bear and still he is a kind soul and an amazing human being who isn't afraid to share even the darkest parts of himself with the world to entertain us and make his fans feel just a little less alone in the world.

You walked in on the middle of a play and It was very funny watching you try to work it out but you got it OK. Just watch Ren's video of the explanation of what went down. You need to watch Sick Boi and understand that it was Ren's whole story that got a strike because Kujo was greedy. It's back up again and all us Ren fans are really glad because the world needs that song. It's saved lives. Welcome as you start your ride down the rabbit hole. Subscribed.

Context: “This ain’t Hi Ren number 2…” Ren has a song called Hi Ren, an excellent entry point to the RENiverse. He later released an album independently, which made it to #1 on the UK charts about a year ago. The title track was called Sick Boi. Although Ren produces most of his own beats, he bought the beat to that song off of Beat Stars, produced by Kujo Beats, an UNLIMITED LICENSE. The beat includes a sample from a Bulgarian boys choir. That sample was NOT cleared by the producer, as REQUIRED by Beat Stars. Well, the Bulgarian choir got wind of Sick Boi, to which Kujo Beats had been given production credit. So, they went after Kujo. To give a short synopsis, Kujo tried to extort more money from Ren, going as far as to copyright strike REN’s Sick Boi video on KZbin. REN’s spent months trying to work with Kujo, even offering to make a new track with him and giving him 50% of the master. Nothing was enough money for Kujo, likely because of his legal issues with the Bulgarian choir. The Kujo’ girl friend got involved online by calling Ren a liar and posting falsified contracts, while privately sending Ren ‘nice’ messages with ‘LoLs’ and even flirtatious type stuff. When this happened and Kujo demanded more, Ren shut it down and turned it all back over to the lawyers. Ren took his ‘receipts’ to KZbin’s CEO last week, getting the copyright strike dropped and Sick Boi back up. This Kujo Beat Down video is his warning to Kujo and his GF to stop the public lies and defamation or things “Will get worse.” Then, he turns off the lights at the end to say, ‘This is done. Time to move on.’

Gentlemen you've no idea the Rabbit Hole the both of you have fallen into. Ren is a Multi-talented Artist, this track was more of a cathartic video for Ren and his fans. Ren song writes, directs his videos, produces his own beats and his vocal skill ranges Rap, Rock, Reggae, Pop, R&B, Beatboxing, etc. He is a multi-instrumentalist, guitar, piano, bass, drums, cello, ets (All self taught). Then there is his performative skills and his own style known as "Bardcore" which is his storytelling tracks, often these are multi-part series that cover his own life story, but also other topics. Ren's album "Sic Boi" charted #1 in the UK, beating out Drake and Rick Astley, mind you he gets no radio play and is literally independent and relies on small scale guerilla marketing and of course his fans. He is a massive supporter of Reactors and has a team which deals and clears any copyright issues in regards to Reactors. Ren is also very much anti-greed and as "Sic Boi" his title track had the copyright strike lifted by the head of KZbin Music, as a result of Ren meeting face to face with him. Ren released "Sic Boi" back out via Bandcamp for 1 pound as a way to thank his fans and the reactors. There is deep backstory to Ren, which includes serious physical and mental health issues which left him bed ridden for the most part between the age 19 to 25. Ren through much adversity has struggled and found his way back to a manageable normalcy of life. Ren as a person is one of the most humble, caring and intelligent people you'd ever meet, his fans can attest to that and is evident in the numerous interview/documentary videos out there on KZbin. In regards to the comment about his single and double syllable rhyme scheme and can he rappity rap?...Oh you ain't heard nothing yet 😉

What a way to start with Ren, babes! Honestly, I think the best way to think of this song/video without knowing the full context upfront is to see it as what happens when some idiot pushes a good person too far… a good person that also happens to be blindingly brilliant. He's got music for anyone, any mood, and his heart is genuine - a breath of fresh air in today's society! I cringe when I hear that this is the first reaction to Ren, this isn't him AT ALL. Theatrical very often, videos shot in a one take mode very often, but his pen is wicked, his beats are sick, and... you might just enjoy finding him so randomly. Thaks for the reaction. P.S: yup, it is a "part 56" from 2 months of going back and forth with these 2 ppl, lol, but others have already explained it
@annaheeldawes86082 ай бұрын
Great reactions guys. You have a new sub. REN’s work is a massive rabbithole he does a lot of different stuff.. Yeah you have walked into the middle of a massive situation, Ren made a song called Sick Boi he bought a beat off Beat Stars from a producer called Kujo Beats with an unlimited license. Side note part of the beat ( the choir part) that was sold was not cleared and sold it illegally. The original claimants of the beat went after Kujo demanding 50% of his take of the publishing. Kujo then decided he wasn’t willing to absorb that knew Rens song had blew up online and was the title track of Rens first UK number 1 album saw an opportunity and started talking to rens lawyer trying to get more money essentially. Because the lawyer wasn’t answering quickly enough Kujo copyrite striked the Sick Boi song wrongfully. Ren only then found out about the issues and tried communicating with Kujo about resolving the matter Kujo then got greedy and started asking for way more than the initial payment agreement. Finally saying he was going after 100% of the master and the full royalties during these conversations Kujo’s girlfriend got involved and saying one thing to Ren in messages and another in public comments ( that’s why the girl was also kidnapped in the video) Ren was gaslit by the two of them for months and the whole time his song Sick Boi was taken down. Also Ren has been very ill for many years with misdiagnosed Lyme Disease ( tick bite) and has been in dozens of medical treatments to try and fix this and it has left him with a lot of health and mental issues. This track was a release for him emotionally and a massive warning to Kujo and his missus to cut out their gaslighting and BS online. Hope that helps lads

Hi Ren is his most popular song, and is set up similarly to the beginning of this song. So most fans get the reference. But that song is very theatrical too, and long. If you want a quick understanding of what's happening, do a reaction to Sick Boi. Then, know that this dude Kujo is a guy who sold him the beat to the song Sick Boi. He played games and got greedy and it resulted in Sick Boi having to be taken down on all platforms. Right now it is back up temporarily. But this song is in response to Kujo and Ren's legal battles and online drama. Try watching a few other reaction videos of this song, and you'll probably learn more of the back story from other reactors.
