REN - SEVEN SINS: Reaction & Review!!

Ren surprises me YET AGAIN with "Seven Sins". The production of this track is S tier and feels very large and grandioso! On top of that, his rhyme schemes mixed with the true message of this song is impressive yet daunting. A definite playlist worthy song from Ren in my opinion.

Ren's mother found him literally laid out on the kitchen floor scratching at it in pain, he was in full blown psychosis. His body was allergic and shutting down from the fecal cell transplant he had. His missing "Chapters 1-8" documents discusses his life from getting sick at age 19 and bed ridden for 6 yrs, his stem cell treatments till the most recent treatments he is getting in Canada. He is 34 yrs old.

"Stuff the haters...". Oh, the irony, lol. :) The problem with such a kneejerk, catch all response, is that it's merely used as a tool to shut down any criticism, disagreement, or misunderstood humour, by labelling all such as merely 'haters'. There are genuinely malicious people out there for whom the epithet fits but most, who are easily dismissed by such lazy labelling don't fit the epithet. Cutting yourself of from all criticism or disagreement and choosing to live in a safe but unrealistic bubble is a choice and not necessarily a healthy one. It's an especially bizarre attitude to be constantly expressing, while choosing to post in a public forum, on your own volition. :)

The clapton reference is to tears in heaven, a beautiful sad song eric wrote to his young son who died in a tragic accident, voodoo is a reference to hendrix's blues rock song voodo child, and of course humble to kendricks song humble.

This was the most recent song he did for the album. He meant it to be an introduction to the themes of the album. The begining is all about his illness and the extreme pain he lived in every day and still suffers from tho not so extreme. The screaming and clawing on the kitchen floor was real when he was 25,the worst year of his life. Then he talks of being bedridden and Clapton, Hendrix and Kendrick exemplify as other elements of pain and his mental state. And making money from his pain and then much of the money game= societal evils that he covers in tbe album. It was supposed to be a minute and a half but he got carried away and kept going 😂😂😂. Its my favorite track on the album. If you watch the 8 Chapters just for yourself, you will get all the back ground. Gut wrenching and beautiful at the same time. The man never gave up. These are well worth the time. I like your reactions. As Ren says, if someone slags you off, you might be doing sonething right. You can't please everyone. Don't let hate drag you down. The gospel according to Ren.❤

Funny you mention this in connection to Money Game! Back in October, Ren hosted 14 days straight of money games as a promo lead-up to the release of Money Game 3 (which was released the day before the Sick Boi album dropped). The money games were split into pairs of challenges focused on each sin in turn… each sin had a cryptography challenge followed by an internet-wide treasure hunt. He used text from this song in the challenge riddles. The whole thing was super fun and highly collaborative-Ren and team made the challenges extremely difficult to encourage us to work cooperatively. And Ren being Ren, there was an unexpected, thought-provoking twist at the end. Too bad you weren’t onto him yet… you said you’re a programmer, so I bet you would have enjoyed the challenges. RikaShae has recaps on his channel if you’re curious. As for suggestions, I guess a lot of people will suggest The Hunger as another instance of Ren showcasing his rap skills over one of his own beats, which you can’t go wrong with!! I’ll go a bit different and say Ren and Sam Tompkins - Blind Eyed Ft. Angry Car Park Attendant (that version specifically).

This is the first song on his Sick Boi album I believe. He shouts out tons of people if they inspire him. That's the only reason ik. And sometimes he is inspired from himself so he'll make call backs to himself in his lyrics. His very good at flipping the titles to not just fit the rhyme scheme but to fit the topic. All the songs on his Sick Boi album reference each other and it kind of builds a "World" of Ren. I can't remember which ones you haven't heard from the album so I would start there! ok, promise this is the last comment for the day - don't want to be that loud guy in chat not his music, but highly recommend Chinchilla - they did a couple of things together (chalk outlines, how to be me) but she is a stunning independent singer in her own right and really doesn't get the exposure she deserves the collaborations are amazing, but her solo stuff is also well worth your time

"He's having a panic attack or something". Really? lol. This was a bit more than a panic attack! Years of literally wasting away, on a severely restricted and liquidised diet, due to becoming highly allergic to virtually all food. Years of constant, unrelenting, chronic pain, making it impossible to get any real sleep and the continuous chronic pain and extreme fatigue making it impossible to do anything, even reading or watching tv. Years of barely seeing the outside world at all, while everyone you know is doing what people in their twenties do. All with no answers and being told it's all in his head... After years of this and much else besides, including the misdiagnosis that meant he was on unneeded but powerful, psychotropic drugs... After years of this, he'd somehow managed to make it downstairs to the kitchen but the strain made the already chronic pain even worse. His mum found him screaming, on the kitchen floor, in so much pain that he was literally digging his nails into the laminate flooring, in desperation. That opening part is Ren describing the exact moment when his mind couldn't take any more, snapped and he entered full-blown psychosis!

If you rewind a little, after pausing, you won't miss anything. :) You've already missed a couple of the best lines in the entire song, never mind the transitions. You were also so focused on what you expected the track to be and be about, that you, very clearly, completely missed most of it. Then again, you mentioned that you haven't got the attention span for longer tracks, or music styles that you don't listen to, which indicates that focus isn't your strong suit. Here's an idea... why not try? Or not, it's entirely up to you, after all.

Almost everything you said is false and off the mark. I've listened to the song plenty since this recording and looking back, I didn't miss much. Just because I don't mention every little thing, doesn't mean I didn't catch it. A lot of stuff is obvious. Also I DO rewind 90% of the time. It's called editing.
