Hi Sam. Sorry you're sick, but glad you're on the mend! Rest up and don't overdo it. Let the fam look after you for a while. I would love to share your optimism of the future but the world still appears pretty dystopian to me. There are powerful regimes around the world (we all know who they are) who are hell bent on crushing the democracy 'project' in the westernised world. This needs a strong counterbalance of likeminded nations to stand up for our hard-fought collective values. These regimes don't value the principles of elected representation and seek to gain or cling to power through corruption or coup. They consider themselves personally above the law (both domestic and international) and acquire the power to influence or determine the judiciary for personal gain and act with impunity. They have no respect for the human rights of the individual or their rights to self-determination. They have no regard for the legitimacy of sovereignty and sovereign borders and are indifferent to the consequential suffering such actions create. They seek to control the narrative in order to shore up their domestic support and use Orwellian double-speak to claim truth as lies, integrity as corruption, success as failure, poverty as wealth. They surround themselves with a protective barrier of powerful elites and bleed the wealth of their nation to pay for this 'loyalty'. The west needs a strong 'United' States supporting a long-term strategy to help fight against this insidious global phenomena of authoritarianism, and not a distracted 'Fragmented' States only noticing the urgency when it's too late, at what I consider to be the most dangerous time in our global history. Woah, heavy stuff over.... Looking forward to the next Ren! 🤣
