The ending with the "I'm sorry... " breaks my heart. Makes me tear up every time. Sounds like she's crying when singing and it's like she's apologizing for being her, saying sorry for loving too much 🥲😵

Perhaps she realized that loving too much is often placing expectations on the other when perhaps living is true appreciation of who that other person is without expectations. Perhaps she realized that hers has been conditional all this time. Since I texted you this many times, I expect you do the same. Perhaps she realized he may be the fly, trapped by her need yo hear I Love You by her command, on her schedule.

The one thing Chinchilla does that gets me every time is the conveyance of the emotion. She thinks so deeply about harmonies arrangements and the tonality of her songs to perfection. Gives me chills. Great reaction to this 💕

I love that you picked up on the "Say I" section. Very subtle but clever writing. Chinchilla is a seriously underrated artist. I was lucky enough to see her first performance here in the US recently. It was a showcase and I honestly don't think the organizers anticipated the crowd and response she would attract. Or they would have put her last and not 3rd out of 4. Felt bad for the last guy. No one should have to follow that talent.

My understanding of the times when the screen goes black (not edits) is the representation of a fly blinking, being stunned when crashing into some unforeseen “reality”. The unexpected cry of the strings is a jolt to the heart and it only becomes more disoriented throughout, just as the fly when desperately trying to maneuver around obstacles too large to avoid, ignore, or escape.

Chinchilla’s ability to express EXACTLY what the song is about in such a raw and emotive way makes it impossible not to feel it , emotionally and viscerally. The strings coming in feels like they are the heartstrings that are about to be shredded into bits in a matter of maybe a minute. She is a phenomenal artist and performer, and is always uniquely herself .

Regarding another Chinchilla song, may I suggest "Little Girl Gone". While the official video seems to be mentioned by most fans, I find the situation portrayed in that video unrealistic. I prefer the "Little Girl Gone Live (Requiem)" version. I like how she made it much more somber and powerful and I find her live performance more interesting. It gives more attention to the backing singers and the harmonies are delightful.

I saw a discussion of this video’s production where they explained the POV. We are looking through the eyes of whoever Chinchilla is singing to/about and the screen goes black because that person is blinking.

Thanks RM, really enjoyed your reaction..(as well as your review of Fingers...late to comment there) Chinchilla is special. I was very happy to know I'm not the only one who can hear similarities to Janis and Aretha. Of course they both will always have their own suites in the Tower of Song...but space is being reserved for Chinchilla no doubt...and she even has that tendency to kick one leg up in the air on special notes....just like Janis used to do! ^_^. Please be sure her live busking duet with Ren covering/retaking "Sexual Healing" is on your To-React-To list ... in my book they now OWN the classic...and me thinks Marvin might be nodding in agreement. ✌️

You should check out Flytrap - outro. It is Chinchilla's mum talking about relationships and it was, I believe, the inspiration of the Flytrap EP

Yes she is a fly in a flytrap ❤ she did a short explaining that her mom told her that creative people often attract people who love their thoughts and other qualities but will then quash those very qualities to keep you in a relationship but then will lose interest because you no longer express those qualities that drew them to you in the first place (like a fly flying free who is then caught in a trap). So don't change yourself to make someone else happy ❤

You really picked up on the fly trap concept. The idea came from her mother who told her a story about relationships and catching someone in a fly trap. Her new album is called Fly Trap. And she does make all of her costumes including hats. Love your reactions!

It is different to Ren videos which are one take. You saw 5 cuts, even though it's live. One person in the chat suggested that at those particular points she was emotionally overcome and the voice choked up to do another take. I don't know but it could be artistic choice! But I like the first version... There are songs I can not perform live without breaking into sobbing, so...

A compressor/limiter is a vocal plugin/hardware that helps to make softer notes louder and keep loud notes from peaking so that you can have a more even volume for the whole performance. They are used pretty much on everything live when there are going to be extreme lows and highs so that the volume doesn't have to be raised and lowered to compensate.
