@@ige-individualgroupeffort-kenl It was the Alice Cooper-ish one! So great. I've been a fan of The Warning since Choke came out on Octane Siriusxm. I still have to watch a bunch of your videos previous to that time period.

I think the key to "linking" the song lyrics to the video is to flip the concept on it's head. The lyrics strongly imply that the manipulative offender is the male in a relationship; here the "manipulators" are the ladies. Mostly, this was "just for fun" - and thus far is really the second or third video they have done that sort of discards the storyline the lyrics describe and just make a "vaguely associated" video for the song. And quite honestly, it _is_ a lot of fun, and lets them explore other aspects of the arts they want to explore without getting too serious and involved with it.

From what I can gather, the girls were in fact not there and I tend to believe it, as they do not seem to be in any shots with the contestants.

As busy as they are, I can believe they didn't have the time for a whole days worth of auditions and shooting. I don't blame them although I hope they were there enough for the "contestants" to feel the love.

BURNOUT Songwriters: Alejandra Villareal / Anton DeLost / Daniel Lancaster / Daniela Villareal / Paulina Villareal Wasted, never catching up Still you think you’re good enough You’re so blissfully unaware Drag me down like you never cared You lost all your ambitions in a flood of bad decisions you know, woah You’re making it too easy best believe you’re gonna reap what you sow, woah Say you’ve got it so bad baby, yeah that’s all you talk about There ain’t even a spark inside you left, nothing to put out The smoke around you, splits us in two You’re just a burnout Breaking empty promises Talk is cheap when no one’s listening You plan your demolition with a list of self inflictions you know, woah Say you’ve got it so bad baby, yeah that’s all you talk about There ain’t even a spark inside you left, nothing to put out The smoke around you, splits us in two You’re just a burnout You’ll find out sooner or later You’re always one step behind The world just moves on without you A waste of everyone’s time You’ll find out sooner or later You’re always one step behind The world just moves on without you Say you’ve got it so bad baby, yeah that’s all you talk about There ain’t even a spark inside you left, nothing to put out The smoke around you fills up the room Everything you do, it splits us in two You’re just a burnout

THE WARNING HAS THROWN DOWN THE GAUNTLET. These young ladies have shown the entire music world how to not make a bad song because every one of their original songs are great. They are this generations Beatles only they are better because the fab four wrote some songs that were up to snuff and sucked. These ladies do not know the meaning of a bad song.

I don't know if it's relevant, but the great James Jamerson recorded a famous Motown hit while lying on the floor in the recording studio because he had been drinking excessively at the tavern and they had to bring him back to the studio. He couldn't stand or sit but he could still play the bass. Not sure that this is the reference here, obviously.

*Few Easter Eggs you missed.* *"Burnout"* talent contest was a spoof of *"American Idol".* The ladies incorporated original judges into their names. Ale had Randy Jackson since he is a bassist. Was in fact a member of Journey for an album & few tours. Pau took Paula Abdul for obvious reasons. Plus Abdul did try to climb over the table to attack an contestant. So that did happen. That left Dany with Simon Cowell. Who did go to judge on *America's Got Talent.* You did mention the dude doing the splits. Obvious, none of the ladies done the splits on camera. But the lyric in the song had *"splits"* when the dude did the splits. This video was Rudy's concept & he co-directed the video. Keeping it in house now.

This is the first time I've heard the studio version and it's a bit messy in the middle, but still outrageously gorgeous. The live version is simpler and I think it might be better for it.

Yeah their lyrics are so often deep and meaningful, but this one, not so much, more liked they're just painting emotions with words, like a Monet painting... ..then again, maybe they just like the way it sounds...

I didn't love this one at first and I still don't but it is sounding better after listening to the lyrics and the delivery and all the different sounds in their playing. this is something I'd hear on a local radio station, makes me think of Royal Blood, or Dear Rouge. now this is half the album they've released so will be cool to hear the rest in just over a month
@kenlawson6738
@kenlawson6738 Ай бұрын
The rest of the album is a mix of Celtic folk songs, sea shanties and dub-step. Still, as long as it sounded like the Warning doing all of those I'd still be interested because they would make it their own.

I completely agree with your assumption that Dany is making great use of her expression pedal for Burnout. I freely admit I don’t know jack about music production but she has used it quite a bit historically in various ways. My only real complaint about Keep Me Fed so far is I think the studio versions are somewhat limiting Dany’s power vocally in contrast to how they perform the same songs live. I’m sure it’s a conscience choice they have collectively made but one of the things I’ve always loved about TW is how they especially use vocals as like the 4th instrument. It seems they want to draw more focus to the innovative things they are doing musically without being overshadowed by letting Dany cut loose like she does live.
@ige-individualgroupeffort-kenl
@ige-individualgroupeffort-kenl Ай бұрын
I agree about the vocals on the studio versions not being as good as when they do them live but that has been the case with every cd they have done. Having recorded a few singers in my time as well as writing and recording myself, it is a common thing. When you first record you are sometimes still figuring out the song as you go and haven't lived with it and really connected to it. You also haven't had an audience in front of you to sell what you are saying to. I have almost always gone back and re-recorded vocals if I have lived with the song for awhile. I don't think they had that luxury. That's why we all hope for a live cd set one day that captures them at their most raw and aggressive with the feedback and energy of a live crowd.
