Dr. Mike, I know hypertrophy is your wheel house, but I'd love to see more content from you on S&C training for field athletes. For example, your thoughts on daily undulating periodization, velocity-based training, training for power on the force-velocity curve, hypertrophy for athletes, strength training before or after a game, SAID, etc.

Best hypertrophy content on KZbin by far. I understand the doload concept. Not sure I’m clear on how to start the next mesocycle. Do u start 3ish RIR again even if that means dropping the weight and reps? Thanks for the great info!
@antonsand10 ай бұрын
Hi Mike! First of I want to tell you how incredibly much I appreciate your super helpful and detailed (also funny) info on KZbin. I recently found your channel and have been binging it since. I have now gone down from 107kg to 86kg and fat% around 10-12 at best and am finally seeing proper definition…no insane abs still though 🤣 I live in Finland and have always been in to training but since 2016 when I got in to a car accident I stopped mainly because of pain in my neck that led to depression. A year ago i got more motivated than ever and have been doing bodybuilding since and your channel is helping me hugely with indepth knowledge and motivation. However after the car accident i noticed weakness in my pectoralis muscle when trying to get back to the gym and for example bench press…. I got diagnosed with isolated pectoral major myopathy that has not been found in any other human to this day to knowledge and as you probably know this causes pectoral dystrophy and as a side effect muscle imbalance in my back (lats for one). As no doctor here really knows what caused my myopathy and really no doc here understands bodybuilding with myopathy I was so glad to find your channel and just maybe you have any help or tips is it possible to train for hypertrophy or strength with my condition or myopathy in general or how should one train with a weird condition like this? Thank you for your amazing content knowledge is power!

A deload works the same way as a sport specific peak. If you want to pr a marathon you don't run a marathon earlier in the week. Bodybuilders will insist on forgetting that bodies are bodies.
@Yupppi10 ай бұрын
Dr. Mike: "Ok Omar do you want to really kill yourself by super hardcore workout that surely progresses you?" Omar: "Uhmmm I really don't want to overexert myself, I don't like getting sweaty and stuff, I'd much rather have my butt pictured for instagram in these training pants. I mean let's do something unique that's never been done like... a deload workout!" i actually saw the video title change in real time while watching it, that was like seeing the matrix. Amazing what Dr. Mike can do with science though, getting team no calves to train calves. At least he let Omar do chest and biceps after like real men. And just as feedback, would've 100% more clicked the video if it was named "total war" and Dr. Mike's head in explosion. Honestly though, that was an interesting take on video style this time. Almost all chill chat, training tips in the background.

Hey mike Condensing (last workout) into one day how does that work? Do you go from 4 sets per exercise to 2 sets and less weight (half) for this later half? So just pick one exercise per muscle? Just do entire deload week halving sets/halving weights/halving reps?
@claybowman124210 ай бұрын
im sure youve discussed this before but what happens if i can always get little prs? does that mean i never deload? im not a complete beginner, ive been training for 2 years, i have the typical gym bro ok sbd maxes.
@claybowman124210 ай бұрын
@@srleplay oh gotcha! I’ve been adding volume only when I can’t get prs so if I only match my previous best I’ll add a set and typically that gets the pr next week and I keep the set depending how I feel each workout. I’m doing a good bit of volume as is, I don’t see why i would move up and intentionally make a deload necessary.
@streetdogg820610 ай бұрын
Is there any reason why deloads should to be the same exercises you did during the last meso? Or is it just as good to use the new ones from the next meso (as far as they even change anyway)? I feel doing it with the new ones seems more productive, since I can train the technique a bit, get into the groove, figure out what a good weight is for me, and so on.
@teknoreaper923210 ай бұрын
I think that can be a good strategy, you just have to be careful with the weight and reps because your strength is going to differ, along with you not being used to it, so you don't want to accidentally go too hard and make your deload more fatiguing than it has to be.
